The whole point of their relationship was that on the outside they looked to be toxic and looked like they didn't care but in reality they love and care deeply about eachoter. This is shown in e.x the car scene when they're comforting eachoter in a near moment of death. It's also shown by the fact of how close Dionne and Murray's mother is, oh and let's not forget the "Sorry miss Dionne" moment. Much of the analysis of this movie is way off the mark. The narrator has conveniently forgot to mention the part where Cher is reflecting on all the good things about Deons relationship and that Deons boyfriend is putting on an act and that fact that Deon doesn’t just stand there and take it but often puts him in his place and shows what strong intelligent girl should do. I’d recommend a teenaged girl watch this movie over any of the horrible crap supposedly geared towards girls today.
I'm not saying all the points aren't valid but I was the same age as these characters at the same time and most of it is just called being a teenager. As a teenager you aren't "politically correct" most of the time regardless of socioeconomic standing. You have to live , learn and grow and as many people have pointed out Cher narrates and explains most of these things. Oh my gosh, the stereotypes are in there for jokes. It’s a comedy. Teenage girls DO obsess over their bodies, teenagers ARE often in mildly toxic relationships, and a lot of maids for wealthy families are from places like El Salvador. Why shouldn’t girls be allowed to just talk about guys if they want without being branded as vapid or superficial? And as a woman, idk about other women, but I DO get grumpy at that time of the month because I’m in pain 😂 It’s not supposed to be perfectly politically correct, it’s not a movie from the 2010s, and thank heavens for that.

The idea of the gay stereotypes in Christians character is that it was supposed to be so obviously gay that anyone should see it, but Cher still thinks he’s into her. It’s meant to showcase her - for lack of a better term - cluelessness.

So we're not going to talk about how Cher gets with her ex-step-brother? Even if they weren't blood-related, he was portrayed as a brother figure at the start of the movie. The rest of this stuff is common and was mainly intentional satire on stereotypes, the brother thing is the uncomfortable aspect of this movie in my opinion.
My favorite movie is clueless and cher Josh are so cute together this was first time watch it really great movie cher and Josh are so amazing couple together

Much of the analysis of this movie is way off the mark. The narrator has conveniently forgot to mention the part where Cher is reflecting on all the good things about Deons relationship and that Deons boyfriend is putting on an act and that fact that Deon doesn’t just stand there and take it but often puts him in his place and shows what strong intelligent girl should do. I’d recommend a teenaged girl watch this movie over any of the horrible crap supposedly geared towards girls today.
I'm not saying all the points aren't valid but I was the same age as these characters at the same time and most of it is just called being a teenager. As a teenager you aren't "politically correct" most of the time regardless of socioeconomic standing. You have to live , learn and grow and as many people have pointed out Cher narrates and explains most of these things. Like the fact that Murray and Deon are really nice too each other when no one is looking.Murray, wants to be cool but he is still an insecure teenager, so he may seem a little possessive but in no way is a douche bag, that's just fear and not knowing how to have a mature relationship because well, you're not mature...lol. Movies usually over dramatize things to make them obvious like the fact that Christian was Gay. When you're that age you are still struggling to figure out who you are, which was basically one of the major themes of the movie. It was just done in a clever comedic way, to stand out from the other overly sappy teen dramedy movies and shows from that era. Not that they weren't great in their own right. I have to agree they were reaching a bit. The movie was not geared to politically correct adults, but teenagers.

Seriously...? They dfidn't call it "Politically Aware Teenagers" or "Socially Sensitive High Schoolers" (what a bore that would be). The movie is called "Clueless" for a reason. The whole point is that Cher's world is self-enclosed and oblivious to the rest of the world. The characters have to be shown as unaware, self-absorbed and "clueless" or else there is no story. What makes it funny is the very fact that the characters are so clueless. This video commentary is truly more clueless than the movie.

Minghao's Lines I first saw this movie when I was 11 now I'm 33 and I never saw it as a toxic relationship. Murray was not misogynistic and although it's implied that he may have been the cheater it is not played seriously. None of this movie was. The 90s didn't take itself seriously.
This video is pointing out normal things in an aged movie that is viewed as "bad" or "insensitive" now. It was the 90's, the Western world was still trying to figure itself out and yeah there will be iffy things mentioned. It's not even that bad but the sensitive snowflakes of this side of the ocean hate anything being risky besides their hair colour
Maybe the reason why we weren't able to see them before, is because we were clueless.

JFC, do the creators of this video understand nuance, sarcasm, or comedy AT ALL?! So much of this is taken out of context and in that regard, the narrator fails to mention that all these are how the characters start out and the point of the movie is how they grow and become better people, accepting each other for who they are and relaxing their original judgments. Furthermore, I know plenty of Persians, and that "stereotype" is spot on and hardly insulting. They all love leather and drive BMWs. What exactly is wrong about either of those things? It is not so much a stereotype as it is an observation. Learn the difference! I think the biggest problem with this video is that, for some reason, young people today are not being taught how life used to be and that lack of understanding makes them sound like a bunch of whiny twits. My generation is failing them as teachers.
Uh. These aren’t problems. It’s a movie, an exaggerated reflection of our reality and in the 90s the way these characters spoke and acted was reality.
