I guess I've played waaay too many great puzzle games, because I only played Candy Crush for, like, five minutes and found it to be a dreadfully uninteresting clone. But I do get why other people love it.
anyone notice on the new updated Candy Crush Game Over screen it use to say
"Play On / End Game" now it says...
"Play On / Give Up"
although its very subtle but by it saying "Give Up" it encourages the player to spend more money on it. Wouldn't be surprised if a group of mastermind psychologist created this game.
The developers of this game READ hundreds if not thousands of research papers about human psychology. They know EVERYTHING to make you addicted to buying boosters in-game.
I have never played it. Seems as if I'm in a minority there. The screenshots don't make it seem like a very interesting game, to be honest.
agreed, looks boring to me too.
That's what I thought at first, but man I've had to delete the app to get away from the game lol Its very addictive.
Hey Candy Crush! Bejeweled called, It wants its game idea back.
Do you remember the time when games don't have achievements and players still enjoy playing games to have fun.
pepperidge farms remembers.
Candy Crush has never interested me, I could have played "Candy Crush" anytime in my life, even before it was made. It's called Bejeweled Even then It wasn't particularly fun or rewarding for me.
I play until my lives are gone, then I'm done for the day. The thing I truly wonder is this: The first time a level loads up, is there a possible win? I think it's totally randomized - either the level will let you beat it or not. The suggested moves sometimes work great, sometimes do nothing. And you always get that one candy in the corner with no like colors anywhere near it. The ingredient levels - 3 moves left and there are still ingredients not even on the board yet. Just trying to get you to pay for more lives.
It's not randomized, rather there's an AI system behind all these candies dropping.
Is it possible to buy a copy of this game like you cab with Nintendo virtual store or Xbox ?
Dopamine, i have never heard this word as much as in the past 2 weeks since the Olympics started, the word is in a lot of videos of the past 2 weeks, lol
*****
You're a Liar; your name is fucking awesome.
***** If you payed attention in school, you'd have seen that word a lot more.
lol
***** Hahaha you got me!
In my defense, though, I was just in the hospital and they pumped a truck load of pain killer in me. That's my excuse and I'm sticking to it! ;)
Been playing it for almost a year now...CANT STOP
Aha.. so that's the secret formula I should use for my plan of world domination.. **evil laughter**...
you're too late.
Balee Tong DaEliminator
Ooorrrr, and this is only a suggestion, combine all their evil super powers to facilitate the plan for World Domination! Muahahahahahaha!
The world has tapped into Flappy, they've broken barriers and walls with Angry Bird, and gorged themselves on Candy Crush... (Enjoy all the "unintentional" super villain puns? =p) But for true evil and world domination, I introduce to you...
**Broccoli!**
Oh wait.. no, I meant..
**Super Angry Flappy Candied Bird Crush**! Where birds in Jelly bean suits, tap their way between pig assembled obstacles in order to collect the eggs and 3 candies of the same color. It's all new, never seen before and *definitely* not ripped off from other games!
I say World Domination is within your grasps again! =p
The game should be called “Bewitching Candy” I was just playing it, now I have to watch the video with the video at the side of my screen.
I've never fallen for this stuff. I don't really see the appeal. As soon as some game forces me to stop playing (beyond like a queuing system, which is more like waiting in line for a rollercoaster), I throw that crap in the digital trash. No, Farmville, I am not waiting 20 minutes for that stupid corn to grow just because you said so. Screw your corn! I'll go play Harvest Moon.
Same I lose intrest
I played Candy Crush until about level 50, at which point my frustration outweighed my dopamine and I threw it away forever.
Candy Crush is so addictive b/c it's played by bored moms that've taken over Facebook.
You are correct. Candy crush is addicting game. I think that it must be totally banned . Because in our India I heard some few people who were playing candy crush during time of office meeting.
@angel paw So it's been 5 years. Did you change your mind?
I used to smoke before. I was playing world of warcraft, and when I wanted to go smoke, I took my phone, played the lives I had while smoking , when I was done, I went back on WOW, playing 1 hour or so, smoking again, getting full lives or a few, and I was doing that for a long time, not spending even a penny for that game, I was even waiting the 3 days of the QUESTS when you had to change zones. I've done the quest, and waited, meanwhile, I was getting 3 stars on the leves I didn't menage to get them previously.
:)
My mum obsess over this game. I've played it but find it boring and too easy. It's practically identical to bejewelled which I also found boring. I don't like mobile/tablet games, I prefer PC and console games.
My mom wont let me buy a pc or console is a laptop okay?
there's a greek myth of a guy who did something to anger the gods while he was alive (i forgot what it was but it doesn't matter) and so his punishment in the afterlife was that he had to push a boulder up a hill. every time he got really close to the top, something would go wrong, the boulder would tumble down to the bottom, and he'd have to start again. this is like what you're talking about with gambler's fallacy.
The person you are thinking of is Sisyphus. The story basically says that when Death came to fetch him, Sisyphus had him chained up so that no one died until Ares came to free Death. Before being taken to the underworld, Sisyphus asked his wife to leave his body unburied. When he reached Hades he was permitted to go back to earth to punish his wife, which he didn't do and he lived to a ripe old age before dying a second time. His trickery resulted in his punishment in Hades...so not really related to the gambler's fallacy, but the reference would fit if when the creators of Candy Crush die, they had to play it for all eternity...lol
BTroibayn i'm saying it relates to gambler's fallacy because you think you're gonna win if you keep trying even though it's obvious that it's futile. sisyphus was never gonna get the boulder to the top of the hill, but he almost made it, so it looked like next time he tried, he would. and the cycle went on and on for eternity.
All you actually have to do to get more lives if you don't want to wait OR buy more lives, is adjust the date on your phone. Everyone i run out i swap over to task manager --> settings --> date and time --> skip forward one day --> after i skip like 5 days forward, i just reset the date back to automatic and its fine....saves A LOT of money. Also to transition across gaps, if you turn you're mobile and wifi off, then go into the app, you can play three challenge levels to get across. essentially, everything you can do in the game is free to play AND pay to play, the free option just isn't really presented at all until you're in the correct situation. i had to stumble across all if this stuff on my own, by chance.
Boy, are you ever passionate about this one.
I mean yes, you're absolutely right and I'm in full agreement - it's just entertaining seeing how energetic it's making you compared to most videos ahah
I have NO idea how anybody can get to level 100, 200, or 300 and beyond that in Candy Crush... when I'm only on level 37, that game is REALLY difficult, only gives you so many moves, and expects some things to happen, like you clear the whole board because you mixed some candy together and you eventually beat the level. In most King games, you usually have to get lucky. :(
Hey it's 2023 I am I 4100 level 😊
@@ADVENUMEcongrats, did you spend any money on candy crush at any point? Just curious..
Well Candy Crush irritated me so much with its damn ads that I just never even touched the game. I refuse to play it, ever.
And then there are the people who mess with their phone clocks so they can just gorge on candy crush
8 yrs after my mom is still playing this
"Turning players into PAYERS!"
-- Actual quote from a malicious game dev on a presentation on the topic, look it up.
I knew since looong time that anything is better after a while of not having it so I've always applied it to everything...like when fasting, after 72 hours without food, the first bite of that watermelon is the best taste you ever had !
Bejeweled by PopCap Games, Jewel Quest by iWin and 7 Wonders by MumboJumbo are so nostalgic and way better than the P2W game about sweets!
Atlantis Quest by Playrix too, still better than that candy-themed game.
Odd for Anthony to be apart of Rev3Games, but to not cover this huge tidbit about candy crush...
You should know, candy crush devs not only copyrighted the word "candy", but used that copyright to try and actively ruin other trademarks, also trying to copyright "saga" and the title for their other game. IN ADDITION absolutely destroying "CandySwipe" a game that was years before candy crush, that they clearly fully ripped off bit by bit. www.tickld.com/x/i-cant-believe-they-are-doing-this-its-disgusting
I seriously hope none of you guys continues to support and play these games from now on.
Copyright =/= Trademark, hopefully they have stopped their request over candy, before the bad return they got from this, so keep protesting against this it works!
The chocolate experiment!!
Recently travelled to Japan and loved its choco-biscuit with an image of a ship carved on it. Ate 2 packs one night and then don't eat it until the day I got home.
It's the Bourbon Alfort Chocolate. Made in Japan🇯🇵
If you know you are 1 move away and you pay 99 cents and you still lose.. Well good luck to you in life.
Love how passionate you guys are.
I'll play something until I hit a pay wall, and then I'll stop playing it, forever.
This is the exact opposite or me, I found It stupid that I had to wait for lives, so I got bored and quit...
i am on the 85th level of the game and i love it but i never spent a single penny for any of those 'lives' , 'extra moves' or stuff like that... Paying real bucks for something virtual just doesnt make sense to me
Lizzy Pay to get nothing in return.
I play for free too and never have a urge to pay for boosters. Maybe I'm a cheap bastard.
I crazy thats it's now 2020 and Candy Crush is closer to 3 billion downloads.
Why would you play this and not one of the other 10000 bejeweled clones?
I played candy crush for ten minutes and was so bored I almost fell asleep -.-
Played Candy Crush for 15 minutes then deleted it. Wasn't addicted or amused. Same went for Flappy Bird and Angry Birds. I'd rather have the full gaming experience on PC or sonsoles then half-ass it with a phone. Plus I hate how a lot games have been plagued by micro transactions.
back when I played I just set the clock ahead, went back to get the lives, and set my clock to normal. I never had to wait
Anthony is killing it on these videos lately. Great job bro.
Thank you!
I'd also like to include that Flappy Bird really got my hooked and I still occasionally play it but at least it has no payable features. Instead every game ads are displayed and that is where the money comes from.
what people dont realize is that if you change the time in ur device while u still have candy crush is on, u can reset ur lives back to 5. You can also advance through the levels without asking your friends to help you out
It's really disgusting that games go this far to scam and trick people out of their money. These type of game have some of the most awful business models and they should be ashamed! I can not wait for this awful trend to crash and burn and the companies that promote this garbage to die as well.
"The Last of Us" is very similar, except this time it's emotional abuse that gets your brain to like the game even though in every other aspect it is way below average. Massive use of quick time events, and the rest of the game is very average.
I like story-driven games, but some things are just too much for me. Telltale games' The Walking Dead contains a lot of emotional abuse too, but at least it stays much more true to the adventure genre.
There was a report recently that said only about 0.15% of all mobile players actually buy things in F2P games, so hopefully they're on their way out. I'm sure they won't go down easily or quietly, though. :/
Did you even listen to the story at all. It's 100% a scam. Games that use these kind of tatics horrible and purposoly made to be hard to make you have to pay to continue. It's the pay to win model. Look at the game like Dungeon Keeper Mobile or Final Fantasy: All the Bravest. They are a pay modle that forces you to wait stupidly long times and makes you play to make you think you are actually doing something when in fact all you are doing is paying to continue playing the broken game. Games like this pretty much tolls the line of extortion. The only differance is there is no gun to your head.
I would continue this debate but your rambleing nonsense is not worth my time. I honestly have no idea what it is you're trying to convey to me other then You have absolutly no idea what you're talking about and that I should shut up and grow up. Other then that you have absolutely no argument. Though do please continue your insane babbeling as it is rather amusing :) Have a wonderful day.
I can't get addicted to Candy Crush because I can't download it to my flip phone.
I got bored after like 6 levels and stop playing and never looked back :D
As soon as he said near misses and dopamine I thought is that y flappy bird is so addicting for me because I die so much while being so close to winning
SuperBetter is brilliant. It's done me more good than any of the therapists I've seen for my depression and anxiety problems.
I don't know why but the art style of candy crush gives me the creeps.
Also, what is the difference between candy crush and bejeweled?
I was addicted to this game for two weeks straight, but like many games it lost it's appeal. I did not spend any money on it and it is now deleted off of my phone. high five brain!
I played Candy Crush for longer than I should have, maybe a week. Didn't spend money, because I wouldn't waste it on a game like that.
After about 50 levels I could tell the game was designed to addict people, solely because it's about 80% luck (the chocolates). That's a bad game design, any gamer can tell you that.
tried candy crush for 15 minutes, hated it the whole time
This is such an important video; I have watched it repeatedly.
That's why I play on consoles and not mobile devices. You pay one price and then you're done. They don't make you stop playing and then ask for more money until a timer dictates when you can continue playing.
I took Psychology as an elective in university, so I've know what a Skinner Box is for a long time. I can identify skinner box games is an avoid them. If I start at square one every time I start the game, I generally don't play them.
One of the oldest yet most pervasive businesses that makes it's profit off of the micro-transaction model is McDonald's and fast-food restaurants in general. You pay $1 to $5 for a cheap meal of varying nutritional amounts and often loaded with salt and or grease. The food is high-energy and "tasty," so it is possible to develop an addiction to it, and since it's so cheap and fast, it makes it tempting to regularly rely on it for meals.
I gotta admit, I've deleted this from my phone several times not that I was addicted at those times but I was into other games. But this time I did become addicted I was actually spending money on the game to have extra moves or lives.
Played 2 levels, hated it, never touched it again
This is why I bought a lot of games RETAIL for my Nintendo 3DS instead of spending a lot of money on bullshit on my Android phone. I pay a lot of money up front, but I have that game forever, and can play it as much as I want when I feel like it. Some days I'll play the same game for 4 hours straight, and other days I won't play any of my games. The games don't pressure me to buy anything, and I don't buy DLC unless I really feel like it's worth it.
I played candy rush for about 10 minutes and got bored... however, jelly splash is my weakness O_O. I love that game.
Came to read these comments arguing about Bejewled (what ever that game is) and Candy Crush lol
The moment I see I get little bit addicted to a game that takes your money like that I say goodbye game I will never see you again
Tetris battle on facebook has a time limit on how long you can play. Now I know why.
Ingenious design! The only game I ever play is, though, is Bubble Bubble, because the app was made by a teenager who is his family's sole means of support. :)
My mom plays candy crush like around 9-12 times a day ( in trying to pass levels) I just play it when I'm bored.
Me and my friend played it and we got bored. Do we have problems or what?
Apart from the review, his t-shirt is cool
I tried these games and didn't care for them at all I deleted them.
The only games I spend micro transactions on are League of Legends and TF2.
Most pay to play app games on mobile are just a waste of money.
Wizard 101 is an evil game just like candy crush. Items obtainable for somebody who plays for free are near impossible to get, with boss monsters only awarding 15 coins, and the cheapest mount you can get which is a dead rat, is 30,000 coins. But if you pay money you can get all sorts of the cool crap. I could go on about Wizard 101, but I probably shouldn't.
Candy Crush is not evil. King made it evil since it saw this game is popular !!
I got to admit, when I worked for Zynga I played Farmville and that stuff for hours to be up to date with all the glitches. I really had to control myself though, because at times it stopped being for work.Luckily ever since then I am cured from stuff like this and never touched Candy Crush Saga. :D
I have the app and occasionally play it, normally when I don't have wifi, but I use up my five lives, go well that was nice, then forget about it for another month, I'm not addicted to that game but I am to others
TH-cam literally played a candy crush ad after this video. Like wtf TH-cam
This is the 21st century. Don't pay for a game with a value of 99 cents. If you like reward then climb a mountain or skydive and land on top of a target. lol your money can be used to better yourself. sorry if this doesn't abide by you.
I know someone (ahm ahm) who has a jailbroken iphone.
He basically "bought" all the perks in the store for free with this tweak to his phone.
Everytime he was about to lose he would "buy" (again, paying nothing) extra lives and turns.
He got to 289 in 2 hours and stopped playing because it was getting repetitive and the game is not productive.
I used to play Candy Crush.
Getting & using power candies is good, but combining them together is just satisfying. It's fun experimenting different mixes. It's why it stand out to me.
Then the game got too difficult & I just got frustrated.
Of course, games must gradually get more difficult as you progress. I'm just saying that I'm not addicted to the game as much now.
I've played enough games to know of the gambler's fallacy and the skinner box. Whenever I play a game like Candy Crush, I usually play it to pass the time so, it doesn't bother me that I have to wait a few hours before I can play again.
Thank you sir 👍!
This is very invaluable research 😄😄😄😁!
Very good video! I never played this game myself, but I have seen people play in busses, subways here in nyc. I even know a couple of people, who plays this. THANKS GOD I am only addicted to HoDa, because you are not using money at all haha :D
That is really true!
And somewhat I fall to and play the candy crush game too
But I didn't spend any money, I just play whenever I feel bored, and now I reach to the the higher level, I remember the last time, the max is 530, which where I am now... so candy crush is not that difficult to play, just like like flappy bird, not everyone is likely to hit the pipes and lost
Downloaded it, don't see why how it's addicting.
I think the competitions among your friends is what's really keeping the people playing. Playing solitarily like me just makes the game so freakin boring......
That's the reason why MMOs like EQ and WoW are still relevant even after nearly 20 years. Social involvement for quests and raids.
played candycrush one time never played again
deleted flappy bird after 5 minutes
My entire family is addicted to candy crush, the rage when they cant get past a leval, my mom has been playing the same level for 3 months
Got it for 10 mins, deleted it. I don't see the appeal, it just seems like a standard bejeweled game
watvid1 no candy crush is way better many goals bejewels are still same no goals while candy have nice graphics and creativity and colorful and have stories look at how candy crush is better than any matching games
MICHAELLA ELLA Candy Crush is finite it'll end when king goes bankrupt. Bejeweled is infinite by design. Candy crush tricks you towards spending money for helps and shit. Bejeweled has no IAP and you pay upfront and the game is yours until you die.
**Why Candy Crush Is So Addicting**
Because a vast majority of humans are dumb - The rest of us aren't fooled.
I got bord of it after level 15 and never paid for lives
Usually just dont start with those games but once in a while there might be one i play which ill usually play for a week and get bored
I never even tried it because I don't have time for average games when so many good ones exist.
If you cross your eyes to the point were your view becomes blurry...
the butterfly in the background will look like a pikachu
here's the trick to have full lives always. when u run out of lives, reset the time on your device ahead by the time required for full lives. change by a day or so because it won't get complicated to change back if required... a minus point is that your call logs may show different dates....
Im too will powered. I played 1 level of Candy Crush. 1! and I stopped forever. Never went back. I feel special :'). I'm not one of the 500 million weak brained players.
I've paid money in a few free to play games, but I've never really gone over board. I only do it when I think it's worth the money, not whenever my brain wants to win more. Plus I only play the really good ones that could be worth money anyway. If I really like the game then I'll support the developers with my purchase.
Yeah sure.....sure ya junkie lol
I did play Candy Crush but stopped shortly after. Hidden object games are more my forte. Some have good story, beautiful design and nice music. It's like a mini RPG for more casual gamers who can't afford console games.
i just don't play phone games anymore. I started to play in school on boring classes, but I just decided NO. I won't lose my time like that. And I stopped. If you want to play games, do it on the PC.
Never even played Candy Crush. On a related note I never paid a penny for Real Racing 3 then GT6 came out and I uninstalled RR3 from my phone. Paid for GT6, but never paid any micro-transaction fees there either (though they are hidden in a separate menu option on the games home screen instead of being littered about and taking you to a digital store-front like in RR3 or Forza Motorsport 4). This is another thing humans can overcome by using their brains and a little patients.
I know how game development works. The metrics say this will get a large amount of people playing and the psychology says this is what will keep the majority coming back for more. Puzzle games are *HUGE* in the mobile market space. Research let's developers know how much to charge for games and micro-transactions without offending potential userbase and keeps the new games competitive.
Games are a big business and good market research can be cheap and pays massive dividends. It's also why there are so many FPS and sports games.
I play the game, but never paid a single cent. When i run out of lives I just wait, its not hard.
Anyone who gets sucked into these games need to re-evaluate their life choices.
You forgot to mention your 100 or so "friends" asking for a life every 20 minutes
Dang, games are even more of a science than I thought!
For me, it's Bubble Witch Saga. For some reason, I'm way better at it than stuff like Candy Crush. I'll enter a new territory, usually blitz through 10 levels within a few days (literally) then get incredibly frustrated when I have to wait 2 weeks to gain access to the next territory. I've actually been tempted to buy Candy Crush stock in the past because of the addictive nature of the game
I can see the candy falling even when I'm not playing... D:
I played that game compulsively for a couple months, but never gave them money. I just spent an amazing amount of time on my phone spread out throughout my days lol
