For three years in my life I was a vegetarian. I went and visited my father in Colorado and was going to cook us Veggie burgers for dinner 1 night. He said "Great" can you cook mine in Bacon grease? He was quite the jokester. 😅
Howdy! Well, this is a first. I'd never have imagined that there would be an MRE that required a chisel to get at the dessert! An Opryland video would be a treat. If you can get it out in time, I'd watch it on Christmas morning! Enjoy the respite, you deserve it. We'll be here when you get back! Merry Christmas and a happy new year to you and yours!
I love seeing your different ideas that you come up with during these videos. I cant wait to see new location or new product ideas. I also like the ideas of a feild ration/mre that you cold make only from the stores. Like different meals that you just need to add water.
You you are looking for a simple additive for your water, Tru makes lemon and lime packets. It's the equivalent of a wedge of lemon/lime. Super refreshing and super tasty.
Having been deployed to Afghanistan twice, and drinking endless bottles of water, having flavour to put in it 100% helped me drink the water and made it easy to drink that bottle or canteen.
Hi DBA. Great video, as always. I am looking forward to the next few Christmas type ones. We will miss you when you take some time off, but hey you need some down time, just like everyone else does, and no one could forget you. I hope you ,D'elle, and the family have a wonderful Christmas, and may 2025 be a happy and healthy year for you and your viewers. Much love and respect to you and yours from me and mine, here in the South East of England. xx
I/we try to never miss one of your presentations. During the many hectic weeks we have had the past few months, a few videos may have eluded us? We do attempt to never miss one of your videos, we owe you the views for the excellent work you produce. We have drawn a lot of inspiration from your efforts. One thing we have learned, large, heavy weight products that you have showcased, are frequently NOT shipped to the Philippines. Bad enough the shipping cost, import fees, and added VAT taxes might be in the stratosphere, if the product were sold here. Hiring a buying service to purchase and ship the product puts many items out of reach for EX-pats overseas.
Since you like hot sauce , I would like you to try some McILHENNY Chipotle Pepper Sauce from Avery island. The Chipotle gives it a smoky flavor, and in my opinion is a great pepper sauce that’s not too spicy ! Thanks for the videos Brother and Merry Christmas !
Good morning Brother. Another great idea for MRE's. I did watch your Wednesday vid, and did not comment, Please forgive me. I did save the link for further study. Through your help, we have grown in both knowledge, and experience in construction of our meals. We were brand snobs, you know the type; had to be DelMonte, instead of best buy brand, or food club. However, with your nudging we branched out into other brands. What a revelation, another world has been revealed in accepting other brands. We appreciate your vids more than you could ever imagine. Take time off, gather your thoughts, enjoy the Season, spend time with your Beautiful Wife, and Family. Come back after the holidays refreshed, you will be missed, however we shall survive. Merry Christmas, and a Happy New Year. Thanks Brother. See you on the trail.
😮 I had a thought, looked it up. Maybe you have seen these. If so, excuse me. Try dehydrating honey. You can then grind it into a powder. Then, you can make your own sweetened drink mixes.
Nougat is honey, sugar, and egg whites, so unless it's protected by a layer of chocolate, it'll dry out and get chewy. I'd be careful, I broke a tooth on a a chewy pizza crust. Oh, and those meat sticks are 4 per serving, so you can add more. I usually limit myself to two too, due to the sodium.
That’s hilarious. I just saw those plant based meals yesterday and thought of your channel. And you’re spot on about using purification tablets, they all have a aftertaste and those packets help to hide the taste.
Unit pricing is good. You could consider doing 2 columns, Investment Price and Unit Price. Realistically speaking though, today's price only lasts until tomorrows price increase. Vegetarian is a good way to go too, consider a good rich dark beef pilaf eh, sounds great until you try to tell a fisherman to put his salmon stakes in it :) vegetarian leaves the door open :)
The closet Aldi's to me is about 35 miles away (Lancaster, CA). I will get there one day. Looked at their online presence for 93535 and liked a lot of what I saw.
Grew up with 7 Day Adventist grandparents, so no stranger to vegan diet, but other grandparents raise beef and poultry, so I’d say me diet is well balanced. I enjoy meat, especially beef, but sometimes vegan is really a nice change of pace, especially Mediterranean and Indian vegan.
I have been wanting a trucker's lunch box for a while. I think I might get one for Christmas. I've been watching videos on TH-cam. The thing is everybody I find a video on. They're taking the food out and putting it in there. I like the way you do it. You just stick the pouch in there. Can you explain a little bit how that works? Do I? Just throw some water in the bottom and then put the pouch in there. Can you just heat water in there that you could add to like your mountain House meal or something? Sorry I'm just learning
Not a problem at all. You can cook directly in it since the tray comes out for washing. You don’t have to put water in it, I do that because it’s more efficient. I haven’t tried doing Mountain House in there but I might experiment with it. Maybe I’ll do a video trying different things with it.
Thank you for getting back. Yes I like the idea of just putting pouches in there and heating them. I love that! Maybe some of those little chef boyardee single individual containers. I just like how you do it so just trying to repeat that. Yes I have a lot of mountain House and things like that and trying to find a way I can heat them if needn't be. Thanks for all your hard work@@dadbudgetadventures
Nice video, thanks again! Please enjoy some time off! YT is quite an invasive job, and I've watched some channels suffer as the creator's quality of life declines. There seems to be a tipping point where one sees normal events/experiences/occurrences as things that you would normally just enjoy as "missed" content that goes unfilmed. We're finally getting an Aldi's here, but it will be about 40 minutes drive from my house, so that is a no-go! I bet that nougat bar would be a good dunker in a nice cup of coffee!
Darn I missed the hiking boot video, will have to go and watch it. Ice been busy and have missed out on a lot this past week. Alsi's is such a hit or miss in my opinion.
They have things I go there specifically for like meats. But they don’t have everything I need so I use Kroger for that. But I’m usually at Aldi at least twice a week.
Love your videos. The thing that is missing in the flavor of those Vegan/Vegetarian meals is that they have no "Real" meat cooked with them and that is a source of Flavor, and while to each his own, adding Hot sauce to a entree is not always the answer for everyone.
Definitely. These are something you want to try out before you need them and see what works for you. Might just be some BBQ sauce or mild taco sauce. Something will work for you though.
Great video. Just wondering, have you ever considered including chewing gum in your MREs like the military has in the past? Also, have some great time off.
If I was building a full kit for field use I’d include an accessory pack with things like gum. Dollar Tree has little packs of chicklet gum that is perfect for that.
I use both. Kroger is closer to the house and has things I use regularly but I always buy meat, milk, and eggs at Aldi. Also, Aldi has much cooler novelty products.
I think "vegan" is a synonym for "tasteless". I thought for sure you'd dice up the meat sticks to add to the main, and maybe that's exactly what it needed. See you when you get back.
@WhatAndyDoes up taking care of mom. She fell and broke her femur in 2 places and was in the hospital 2 weeks and nursing home for 20 days before her insurance will only pay 80%. I brought her to my house last week to take care of her. She needs 24/7 care. None of my siblings have come to see her. Nor have they called. They will regret it when she's gone.
Throw the nouget bar in the truckers lunchbox for a min...lol
Heating it up definitely made it edible.
For three years in my life I was a vegetarian. I went and visited my father in Colorado and was going to cook us Veggie burgers for dinner 1 night. He said "Great" can you cook mine in Bacon grease? He was quite the jokester. 😅
It’s a hard conversion process for some of us 😂
Been 30 years since I had the opportunity to visit Opryland- would love to see it again!
It’s changed a lot since the park was there
Mmmm looks good DBA. Loving these homemade Aldis MRE’s. Happy Holidays to you and your Family. Commenting for the algorithm.😊
Thank you so much!
I livedin Nashville and love Opryland. Yes please give us a video.
Working hard to make that happen!
@dadbudgetadventures can't wait to see it and yes you deserve time off.

Definitely going to do that this winter.
lol on the struggle eating the bar
That was so tough! Better out of the microwave.
@@dadbudgetadventures that's good it soften up from the microwave lol
You you are looking for a simple additive for your water, Tru makes lemon and lime packets. It's the equivalent of a wedge of lemon/lime. Super refreshing and super tasty.
I’ve used those before in other videos. They are great products!
can't wait to see the trip. and another great meal
Thank you!
In the edit of the explanation about the drink mix, a little Average White Band backing track would have been nice.
Looking forward to the Opryland video
Working hard to get it ready!
Having been deployed to Afghanistan twice, and drinking endless bottles of water, having flavour to put in it 100% helped me drink the water and made it easy to drink that bottle or canteen.
Kool-Aid was like gold in Vietnam. Probably the most requested item from home.
Happ Sunday Dad. Just checking in from cold Wisconsin for the algorithm. As always thanks for the video.
Y’all stay warm up there!
Happy Christmas and I hope you have a safe and healthy New Year.
Thank you so much. To you and yours as well!
Enjoy your time off from TH-cam. I look forward to the Christmas video. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you and your family.
Thank you so much!

Thank you so much. I’m hoping for an amazing holiday season and to get beck to all of you with some great content.
I have a hard time drinking plain water when it's not cold. So adding a little flavor helps.
Absolutely. For some people it’s just not something they can do and enjoy it.
Fun video! Sorry about your struggles with the nougat bar. Yes, you will be missed but don't worry about us, just enjoy time with your family.
Thank you so much!
I reckon I'll go there today and try to make 1
Cool! Happy hunting!
I use mason jars for my lunchbox and with the top it’s easier to Mx the drink mix still like the knives you showed some videos back.
They are a great way to carry and drink from the same container
Would love to see Opryland, Dad!
I’m working hard at it. Hoping I can get it all done.

I was scrolling the comments before I saw the nougat portion of the video. The video did not disappoint. 😂😂😂
What I put in my water is usually tea bags or herbal tea. Low calorie and I don't mind no sugar.
That definitely works!
And thank you for wearing safety glasses for Sriracha 😂😂
Gotta protect the peepers!
Happy belated birthday. ✌️🇺🇸
It was D’elle’s birthday so I will pass that along!
The Aldi drink mixes taste much better if you wait two hours after mixing before drinking.
interesting one this time, but don't think most of this would be to my palate though. Keep up the good content.
Sometimes it’s gonna hit that way. Definitely not to everyone’s taste.

I just stumbled across D'Elle's channel.
Very nice tone to her voice.
She should do a Dad Budget Jingle Intro. The Liquid lunch gave me the idea.
That’s a great idea!
I can’t do white chocolate at all, because it is so extremely sweet.

Thanks! I’ll take it.
I was just telling my wife I wish we would go to see the lights in Nashville
It’s cool but it can get expensive
Gotta dip the amaretti in coffee or tea befor eating! Trust me.
That’s a great idea and likely the way it’s intended to be eaten. I learn so much from you guys!
Those White Chocolate Macadamia Nut bars are definitely more like a dessert. The chocolate chip variety is better!
I’ll give those a try!
Love your videos! Thank you!
Your jacket is something my son would like do you mind linking where we could find that?
Merry Christmas 🎄

I always say that most every dish is vegetarian until you put meat in it. I look at these as a foundation for making it what you want it to be.
GREAT VID DBA. YES KEEP EDITING CANT WAIT TO SEE THAT VID. 26.5K SUBS, KEEP ROCKING....Z...

Sweet. Going to start scoping out Aldi's more. We usually get fruit and Bluebell ice cream there. Going to do a condiment raid at Taco Bell.
Perfect!
Looks more like a GNAW-get bar
😂
How about printable menu for each video? I have an Aldi in my town. Will revisit based on your videos. Enjoy your break. Merry Christmas!
If I ever decide to do a website I may do that.
