2:17 I have the opposite problem: my Catan gaming group is five people, so I haven't played a "regular" game of Catan for years. We always have to play with a bigger board and extra pieces, and we can't play most of the recent scenarios because they're only designed for four players! 😢

Ah that's annoying hopefully online someone has customed some rules for 5 player scenarios

@@DontBeBoardIt's tough, because many of the recent scenarios and campaigns require very specific new wooden pieces and boards and cards. So it's not just a matter of modifying the rules and figuring out a bigger board layout--it's also a matter of somehow acquiring more pieces, painting them to match the 5-6 player colors, getting more cards and boards, etc. That much work isn't worth it. So I'm mostly just borrowing bits and pieces from them as inspiration for our larger games. For example, some of the recent campaign scenarios have really nicely printed border frame pieces with an integrated victory point track. I have begun using those frame pieces in all of our games, since it's really nice to have a quick visual reference of how each player is progressing.

Ah right that certainly makes it harder to make it work. 😕 surprised some of the scenarios don't just automatically come with 3 - 6 player counts

@@DontBeBoard Completely agree! The four main expansions (Seafarers, Traders & Barbarians, Explorers & Pirates, and Cities & Knights) all have 5-6 player expansions available separately. I guess the reason that "Legend of the Sea Robbers", "Crop Trust", "Legend of the Conquerers" and "Treasures, Dragons, and Adventures" don't have 5-6 player compatibility is that they are technically "campaign scenarios" and not full expansions. Still, they are substantial additions to the game with lots of new rules, parts, and pieces. So it's a bummer that they didn't design them for more players or offer a 5-6 player expansion separately.

Do the pieces from the 25th anniversary edition fit the hexadocs?

They do indeed, I moved my hexadocks over to the 25th anniversary edition.
