- The housing market is booming in Sweden, and on the news they are saying we are running out of houses, so what happens to all the millennials wanting their own home? In this weeks video, we present the first of hopefully not too many house hunting videos. We are determined to leave the student apartment behind, and find a fixer upper that we can make into our Swedish dream home. Come along on this journey, which in this weeks episode contains a lot more nightmares, than dreams.

A little about us:
Morgan is from the USA and Will is originally from Sweden. We met while working together in Germany in 2018 and have ever since tried to find a place to call home. In January of 2022 Morgan finally received a positive decision on her residency application in Sweden, so for now we know where we will call home. We look forward to share with you the challenges and differences between our cultures, and how it works when they meet in our relationship. We very much love each other, but do we love everything about where we are from? Is Sweden as good as everyone says, and is America more than all of its stereotypes? If you haven't already we would be super grateful if you would hit that Subscribe button!

We can not believe it - but the hunt it over: WE BOUGHT A HOUSE!! Follow this link to watch us buy our new home th-cam.com/video/JMJxBVbtzfY/w-d-xo.html Stay safe and take care :) //M&W
It’s so crazy that every house you see is potentially your new home!! I would love to come with you on the hunt some day!
We can’t wait for you to come with us and look at some more 🦌🏔 //M&W
Also the editing is sick! Don’t mind me. Commenting as I watch 😍
Thank you - it is a process! But hopefully we are getting better 🤍 //M&W
The last house, what i could see, has direct electric heating system. This is a economical disaster in this day's. You will have huge electrical bills. So pay attention of the heating system when you look for houses, especially the old ones
Thank you so so much for you advice! Anything else you would suggest we look out for?? //M&W
@@MorganandWill I think you need to request a inspection protocols for the houses you look at. Normal in the area i live (Norrköping) is that almost every house for sale have an inspection protocol in the advertisement (hemnet).
I will say that a heatpump air to air or air to water or rock to water is the best
A heat system with water radiators is the best system.
Also the heater for hotwater is sensitive, the age of the equipment.
The roof, windows, plumming (VVS) but this should be mentioned in the protocol
If this part fail, it will be expencive.
We have been looking at all of the ones we’ve been too so far, but all of this that you’ve shared is really useful to know for us in our future hunt for a home. Any favorite areas in Sweden you think we should look at?? //M&W
Such an amazing adventure you’ve started! Can’t wait for more videos like this one!
Amazing, but scary! Hopefully we will find our home soon:) //M&W
Me too!!!
Hope you find something soon!
This is gonna be an epic journey!

Hopefully it becomes less complicated than it is now 😅
Nice inspiration for me and my fiancées future 🇪🇨 🇸🇪🙌🏻
Thank you! Would be awesome if we could find something :) //M&W
Such exciting times for you guys where patience is key. You can do it! 👏🏼😍
Thank you!! Can’t wait to have you with us on this journey 🤍
the right house will come along for you guys! make sure you get one with a guest room ;) xxx
We know it will, just got to keep looking! Ofc - one of the priorities! ;) //M&W

I love this one!!

We are super excited to see what the future holds! 🤍 //M&W
What an adventure! Haha
Hope you can find your dream house!
So do we, so do we!! :) //M&W
I'm so excited to start this process here in Germany. Thanks for sharing this experience!
Honestly, after looking around Sweden for a while we are strongly considering maybe buying something in Germany 😂 //M&W
@@MorganandWill that would be awesome too!
Borås is such a bad place in general, maybe look on houses further north usually cheap and nice with the beautiful nature, if you can stand the cold snowy and dark winters :) but I wish you two the best of luck u seem like a lovely couple
Yea we weren't thrilled about the area. Think we are going to go more south than north, even though there are some pretty stunning houses and woods up north. Whats your favorite part of Sweden?? Thank you so much, and please don't forget to say hi next time you watch us :) //M&W
@@MorganandWill Hands down favorite is Gotland it's beautiful, good place for u2 to visit in the summer tbh ^^ or the north seeing the northern lights etc and I personally enjoy the hardships of winter but It's not for everyone, I get that.
We can’t wait to visit Gotland/Öland this summer, but we have also heard about the magical northern lights. Maybe we should reconsider moving up north?? Where is a good place to start our hunt if we do?? //M&W
@@MorganandWill So I dont actually live in the north right now I just used to work in Lappland, where santa claus is from :)) for a few months, loved the scenery obviously Its more common to see northern lights the further up you go. And yea öland is great too! been there once as a kid. Öland and Gotland during summer has the most amount of time where the sun is shining on average in Sweden, that's what I've heard anyway from a lot of people ^^
So great to hear all of this from you, really inspired us to look around. Hope to see you in future comment sections of videos, ans please don’t forget to share our channel with your friends. Stay safe and take care 🙏🏼 //M&W
It's craaaaazy hard to find houses nowadays... sucks to be our generation.. stay strong guys!
It been really hard, do you have any experience of house hunting?? Whats your best advice?? //M&W
@@MorganandWill Want to get out of my rental so bad, just hard to find the motivation when everything costs a million dollars...
Just keep saving up and keep dreaming!! One day 🤍
@@MorganandWill YES FOR THIS ENERGY!
A friend of mine described the house hunting in Gothenburg well: "most of the places I went to ended up being houses I wouldn't want to live in - and couldn't afford." Really disheartening at times. Feels like no matter how many "must haves" you turn into "nice to haves", you still can find anything. I recommend searching along the commuter train routes radiating out of Gothenburg. We settled in Ytterby, and love it here. It is much more affordable than most areas of Gothenburg, and takes only 20 minutes to Centralstationen with the train. It still might be on the expensive side (don't know your budget), but the general premise of looking along the train routes is solid I think. It is worth a lot not having to rely solely on the car to get to where you want to go.
Thank you so much for your comment, and we agree with your friend. Ytterby has definitely been on our radar, but now we don’t know if we want to look in the outskirts of Stockholm instead of Gothenburg. How are you finding Ytterby?? Stay safe and welcome to the channel 👍🏻 //M&W
@@MorganandWill I re-read your reply and realized I misread it the first time. There are many Ytterbys in Sweden, so first I thought you mistook it for Ytterby outside of Stockholm...
We love it here. Absolutely nothing happens, which is perfect for a family with two small children. But at the same time close enough to the city to have access to anything you want.
Haha, no we thought it was the one outside of Gothenburg. Yes we really would love that combination, hopefully we will find something like that soon. Have a great week 🌧 //M&W
Woho! Hope you'll find the castle you can make your own!
We hope so aswell!! Wish us luck 🤞🏽 //M&W
Maybe a nice place in the UK, maybe. London would be a good place to look
Don't think they are looking at the UK..
Don’t think the UK is in our cards right now - but would love to come visit! 🤙🏽
@@MorganandWill Dude Brexit happened, get over it!
Yes after Brexit it made stuff trickier. It originally were in our options, but don’t think it is anymore! //M&W
@@MorganandWill Brexit is one of the worst things that has happened in the last couple of years...
Welcome to foggy Gothenburg.
Its this, its a learning period, figure out whats in your budget, renovation costs, commuting costs!
Thats about costs, there are more considerations, and that is about how far frome comunity centers one want to live, and that services.
In anyway, I live in a small (very small) village not so far frome Gothenburgh, its this, those younger residents beside me have at least two cars, one need that if one have children, and if one have to comute to Gothenburg.
I can still take public transportation, but it make my working day 2-4 hours longer.
We have just gotten back from a couple of days in Stockholm and we don’t know if we need to start looking around there now 😂 either way I think heading out from the cities 1-1,5 h away is our goal, but yes it does put some demands on planning and how to do your shopping. Any advice on good villages and smaller communities we should look into?? //M&W
Welp, the third wasn't the charm, but there's always the fourth or fifth! 😉 I'm sure the house you're meant to be in is right around the corner 😉 good luck, and just have fun with the process. It will be worth it.
Yes trying to have fun and enjoy it, but jeez it is hard work to find a house 😂 but we are confident we will find what we are supposed to find. Hopefully sooner than later! //M&W
Love this vid! Sorry about your spooky experience with that first one 😅
Thanks guys, you live and you learn 😅 Can't wait to hear/see more about your journey and house hunt!! Take care and stay safe :) //M&W
@@MorganandWill we actually have big news on that front! Eeeeeee 😄
@@LowkeySwedishVlog JUST WATCHED THE VIDEO!! ITS AMAZING!!!!
So excitingggggg
Super exciting!! How are you?? //M&W
Good luck!!!
Thank you brother!
Hey guys, You are awesome and I can't wait for the whole house hunting experience to be shown to us! BUT Is it a problem if you also show (say) at least the starting prices of the houses you are showing us, so we can know where the market is? Good luck with the buying! Greetings from far away Bulgaria! 🌲🦌😇
Hey Lora! Thank you so much for you comment, we will make sure to include the prices of the houses in the next video. The ones we looked at in this video was roughly between 1000000 - 2000000 kr (100 000-200 000 €). We may go up or down, as we say we are looking at fixer uppers, and depending on where and what shape we may put in more or less. We were about to visit one in the next coming days starting at 500000 kr, but looking at the details from the inspection we are now stepping away from that one (nightmare) 😂 are you looking at buying in Sweden?? Let us know how you’re doing by saying hello if you watch any future videos in the comment section 🤍 //M&W
I watch pretty much all of your videos! You have me as a sub for 5-6 months now. As for any advise I definitely can not give one. I am planning on moving to Sweden in 2 years with my baby (who will be a child by then :D) . I am looking at houses for the past year, but my budget is half of yours and I also prefer somewhere a bit north maybe Gävle or Falun area. And there are a lot of good (on pictures) houses for around 60-80K Euro in those areas. But I don't know what the market will be after 2 years when I actually have the money. :D In any case, I am just interested in other people's experience in moving to Sweden and buying a house there. Even tho I am within the EU and probably will be much easier for me just to move, I still want to see your experience and how you develop there. Also Morgan has a very nice hat with pine trees in front! 🌲
We are so happy to share our lives with people, and makes us so happy that you’ve been with us for that long:) yes the areas up north you speak of has a lot of good ones between 40-100k and we have also looked into those ones. Just feel like we might go more south than north, we will see. Can’t wait to hear/see more of your journey! How come you want to move to Sweden?? Take care and say safe 🤍 //M&W
Thanks guys I appreciate you! Just to answer your question on why I want to move to Sweden. It all began with a holiday for a week in Denmark back in 2019 when the world was normal still and I fell in love with the Scadi way of life, but Denmark doesnt have mountains and deer , two of my favourite things, so naturally Sweden came to mind and så jag började lära mig svenska och jag hoppas kunna vara flytande om 2 år. If you are still there, maybe you can come visit my Nordern house. 😇🦌🌲
That is such an amazing story! Mountains and deers are amazing, and you’ll find plenty of those up north. We can’t wait to see where you end up. Stay safe and keep in touch 🤍🦌🏔 //M&W
Hello Will and Morgan! What house are you looking for? 300-500.000 ? Near Gothenburg? Because you have work in Gothenburg?
We are looking through a wide range of different houses. Anywhere from Västra Götaland to Skåne. We work remotely so we can be pretty much anywhere in Sweden. Close to Gothenburg or Malmö/Copenhagen would be a plus for us though. Price range from anywhere as cheap as we can get and hopefully not any higher than that 😅 You have any suggestions on a house/cottage/barn we should buy?? //M&W
@@MorganandWill Gothenburg or Malmö? I live right in the middle of this two. Its not gonna be cheap if you wanna be close to big citys, go 50-100 km away and you have a much bigger chans to find the gem you are looking for.I will keep looking for you, but Im going to Thailand soon so dont have much time. Good luck hunting 🏹🏹🏹
Well basically we are looking with a 1,5-2 h range outside of both of those cities. So hopefully that will be enough to find our gem. Amazing!! What part of Thailand are you going to?? //M&W
@@MorganandWill To Phuket for the eight time, love it ! Love the heat, beaches and the food is the best. Best wishes from Michael
Incredible place!! Enjoy the sun for us, we miss it 🌞
nice
Thanks Mate!
Do the driver not wearing a seatbelt?
Pretty sure neither of us would drive without wearing a seatbelt, sometimes it may look like we aren’t if we are wearing a black jacket! Safety first!
//M&W
Morgan cracks me up lmao
Best part of being together with her! //W
Ahh..we could have become "neighbors" :)
Think unfortunately we are looking more south now - but that would have been fun! :) hope you’re feeling better! //M&W
@@MorganandWillI understand and my town is not the most exciting place to live in 😂 Yes I feel much better now, thanks for asking 🙂 Hope you are fine too! /Pia
Honestly we just want to live out in nature, and there’s nature around Borås. But we will keep looking! :) Thank you, stay safe!! //M&W
Yayh Borås. Oh no sadness
Another vote for Borås? Seems to be wild discussions about this city 😂 //M&W
@@MorganandWill love to see you here, but it must fit you. Take no issue what i say. When you love the place you will grow. Hug you both wherever you choose to live.
That’s very sweet of you! We are just trying to find somewhere to call home 😂😂 we’ve just come back after a couple of days in Stockholm, and we feel flustered about west coast vs east coast now.. maybe we need to look at both and then decide!
Let’s be neighbors
Sure - wanne move to Sweden?? //M&W
Varför munskydd?? Overkill royal, har hon amirikaniserat dig??
Think it’s got to do with how the majority of the pandemic we’ve been out of Sweden, so we are simply accustomed to wearing them whenever we are out and about in public. Can’t hurt to be extra safe:) //M&W
Everywhere else in the world masks are typically mandatory.. think Sweden is the odd one out tbh
