I have a bit of a take on this. I was born in Iowa. Lived there off and on over the course of my life while also living in St. Louis and Chicago. I can safely say that a place like Perry is fairly conservative (outside of the avalanche of Meth in the state). It would be difficult at best for somebody new to come into a town like Perry and fit in. Certainly so if you have any type of effeminate tendencies. Places like Perry are full of Farmers, factory workers and Bikers. Overall they are really good people. But they are instinctually suspicious of ANY person that seems like an outsider. Maybe this kid was exploring his boundaries at some clubs in Des Moines. as it is a fairly short drive to the City and back. Des Moines is actually a fairly cosmopolitan town by comparison. Looks like he liked Anime and some other things most people in Perry may be taken aback at. They literally are 2 different worlds. It appears to me that the Western Gear was a poor attempt to fit in while covering up something else on the inside. He looked uncomfortable at best with the gun. Maybe it all festered after a bad experience in recent days and his coping mechanism was to attack people. Just my .02

These types of things require exact facts to report & misinformation can be harmful. I appreciate wanting to report things but your information must be correct. Watch a few news reports as there are loads of them now. Best would be to watch the updates from the officer on scene at the school. There is one at the end of the day. The principal was in surgery, maybe is again I don’t know, but he is very critical. He went above and beyond and saved kids lives by taking shots. I hope he makes it.
