- Living out of a small Honda CRV is really tough. In the heat, it's even worse. I tried out the ENJOYCOOL portable outdoor air conditioner for a few weeks and I did my best to showcase a typical day camping and how my lifestyle was impacted.

Make sure you have the both white hoses going outside the vehicle and the drain hose as well. Make a template from cardboard with two 3” holes and no gaps, then add the silver bubble wrap on the outside of the cardboard, if you have big gaps you are trying to air condition the outside that will never work well. Also a unit this small should be used only after sunset or at least in the shade.
If you just do these things this little AC will do great things. And make the your suv very cool
THANK YOU!!! Sorry for the late reply. I plan on doing another video about the air conditioning unit. I'm disappointed in my video and my lack of enthusiasm. I owe the company another try. I'll be doing one soon!! And I'll follow your advice. I appreciate it so much! Someone suggested putting the unit outside in a tent and just running the tube through my window - since it takes up so much room.
You made me laugh out loud…”Let’s see what kinda Hell we are in”, I just love you Kym❤️👏🫶
LOL. I don't remember half the stuff I say.
I would get coroplast sheet board for the window hoses so you can fine-tune the openings for the duct work. Craft stores carry it.
Oh, wow!!! Thank you. I'll look into that!!!
Maybe some knee hi stockings to cover the ends of the hoses to keep creepy crawlies out. Unless you want to work with pieces of screen
@@patriciapuleski900 Oh, I love that idea!!!!
I love my zero breeze it's the same size. U have to close off the front cab w curtain or something bring the hose through and have ur fan off rod to blow the air in ur direction. I keep mine in front passenger seat in a big tub w board like urs for any leakage. I have acrylic I made for the window and 2 tubes. It gets 65 in my car at the beach sat night. I'm going to Huguenot beach next week and will send pic of my AC setup.
Oh, that's great. I used Diane's zero breeze last summer and the power supply was so darn hot, no one could touch it. I used it on the battery for a while. It worked, but it's the size of those things that are the biggest issue. I'm hoping with my vehicle upgrade, I'll have more room for it and I can close off areas to keep it cool. Of course, I need power!!!
Thank you for this information, that unit isn’t cheep , I knew you would give a true honest assessment. You can have plexiglass inserts for your windows with holes cut in them for the hoses , if that helps .
Oh, yeah. I had some cut before at Home Depot. I may try that when I get my bigger vehicle. Thank you!
You crack me up. You are so much like me with your frustration level. More trouble than it’s worth.
LOL. I was very careful what tantrums to show and which ones not to show.
Hello, I just watched this video bc I bought the exact same ac unit. I have a cap on my pick up I turned into a camper. It's only 6.5ft. and the unit won't even cool that down! The water drain hose will go on w some lube n persuasion. Tip: if you want the hoses to go in just thread them in counter clockwise. I tried it for the 1st time today and it was 92 back there. Middle of the day yes, but even on high, after 2 hours the temp went up to 95. I'll be returning it. Best of luck w it cooling down an entire mini van. Safe travels!
Oh, thank you so much for sharing this!! I decided to give it another try. I bought a Transit Connect and I'm going to give it another try, but put more planning into it. It's such a shame, because it's something we really need in this heat. It hit 101 here today!!! Thanks again!!
Thanks for sharing, i was on the fence ok about buying this one vs the zero breeze for truck camping now i know i need a bigger one
@@loganlee8452 Happy I could help!
I give you a "10" for persistence! You are one determined woman! Good job.
I'll take it! A 10 is great! LOL! Thank you!
1) my suggestion is to raise the window the exhaust goes out all the way to the top to the width of the exhaust tubing.
this way you are stopping the entry of most of the hot air coming thru with the window all the way down.
2) re make your window cover to accommodate the tubes going out the top instead of the bottom.
3) cover your other windows as well,
4) utilize your little usb fans to circulate the air better.
5) use the metal duct tape to fasten in the tubes more securely
6) run the drip tube into a bottle and duct tape it so there are no accidental leaks. A/C draws moisture, there WILL BE water.
Also, cover the exhaust tube with insulation.
Excellant advice you really . Honestly she cant make a valid comment when she has left so many air leaks. Around the tubing
I usually get a lot of water in my jug. It's humid here in FL
I'm going to work on another video and try this again - taking everyone's advice!!! THANK YOU!
Good review...Honest, as usual! Yeah, that doesn't look like it is going to work in your CRV. Hopefully, you will be able to use it in whatever new vehicle you get. Good luck! 😊
Fingers crossed! Who knows. I won't give up just yet. Some people like them, so there's hope that it'll work in a smaller van, but bigger than my SUV.
one of the hoses you have out the window is the return air. it stays inside.
I'm a slow learner and I plan to make another video and really concentrate on what I'm doing!
Kim can you put the air-conditioning unit outside the vehicle and just have the cool air pipe come thru into the car window instead?
Ya know, that's a great idea . . . especially if I have a trunk tent. I'll look into that!!! Great!!!
@@OutonaLimbwithKym it's what I do with my diesel heater in winter
Both rear hoses need to go out the window. 1 draws air in to cool the unit, and the other expels that same air.
Thank you. People keep telling me I only need to use one. I told the company I would try to make it work again with all the recommendations from everyone. Thanks so much!
If it cooled down the car even a little bit, that would be enough for me. I think it takes some tweaking.
Totally agree!!! So far, I've been in 70 degree weather up north, so when I get back to the south, I'm going to give it another try. THANK YOU!
Seems like it’s better than not having an ac unit. Looks like a pain to make it work. And the holes, you mentioned a snake. Also bugs. I would try to put some kind of mesh to cover the holes outside. Hope you can make it work. 💜
You are correct. It's a lot of work, but I'm sure I can work on it and try to improve it.
Thanks so much for sharing your experience with this AC in your SUV. I have not tried to van camp in the heat at all. Many years ago when I was much younger, I would tent camp in the Florida summer, but it was awfully uncomfortable. I hope you find a workable solution and best of luck to you finding the van you want.
Thank you so much!!! I've tent camped in this God awful heat and it's just horrible. I'm leaving for the North tomorrow. Getting out of Dodge!!!
Check your passenger front seat to see, if it folds down flat, and try fitting it on that. Then, the runoff hose can empty into a jug.
My seats don't go down flat. I wish they did!!!! I'm hoping it works when I upgrade my vehicle!!!
@OutonaLimbwithKym Bummer... You may want to take a look at the EcoFlow Wave 2. It's the same design, a bit larger, actually, but, also has heat in addition to AC.
My friend has one explore different directions. You have to roll the window all the way up and leave just enough room for the hoses to peek out. But you’re a window open all the way it’s gonna struggle and you’ll probably never get the car cooled off that way when it’s really hot. And then more vent to go out the side window, not the curved window in the front😁👍🏻👍🏻
My main problem is the size. My SUV is so small and the a/c takes up a lot of room. If I had it pointed directly at me, maybe it would be worth it - but then I'd have to sacrifice something else to make room for it.
Honest reviews are the best! I'm sorry that AC didn't work for your SUV. Way too big and cumbersome.
Yeah, too big!! Doubt I'll use it in the SUV. I'll try it out in my new van - some day!
You are too funny, love ya ….you sound like me when I get pissed off hahaha, specially when you hit the hose on the board.
I had to delete a lot of footage. I was really mad at those hoses!!!
When I lived in the UK, ACs weren't as popular as they are now. I got a "portable" AC Unit, and while it was pretty good, it didnt move the air around the room as well as I think it should have. So, I set up a rotating fan in front of it that made it a KICK AZZ system! Maybe you can try that.
EDIT:
I also made a wood cut out for the window. I lived is a very unique building which had very non-standard windows. The wood had enough weight I could rest the window on it and use soft foam (insulation) to add additional hole filling on the outside of the hose (I hope I explained that well).
GREAT IDEAS!!! Thank you!!!! I'm going back south and I'm going to try to use it again. I made so many mistakes. Thanks to you guys, I can give it another try! THANKS!
@@OutonaLimbwithKym All good - its all about trial and error.
You need to buy a 2021 or newer Toyota seinaa . I have one on order it will be a 2025 . It’s a hybrid so you can run the climate control at night . Do some research . Would love to hear your thoughts 👍
Oh, you're killing me. I can't afford a new vehicle. Mine is a 2014 and it's paid for. About to hit 100k miles and I know it can go to 300k. I just really need more room. That darn air conditioner won't fit!!! A new Toyota? Damn - that's so cool!!!!!! And a hybrid. OMG! I'm so jealous.
Hi Kym...I've seen people roll the window up and stick the exhaust through the top. Maybe that can help? I see you already made a hole in the reflectix but maybe you can flip iit upside down? Less heat going out the window. Also, maybe put the screen over the exhaust. I don't think it can hurt, but I don't know for sure. lol I feel your frustration!!!
Thank you for that. I just found out there is a place where I can order a custom made frame for my window with both holes!!! I'm going to try it again. Back to the drawing board!
@@OutonaLimbwithKym I know you got this!
You have the window all the way down so it's going to stay warm in there, try putting the hose out at the top so the window is up most of the way
I'm going to take all recommendations and try again. Thank you. For some reason I thought the window frame would help. It definitely did not! Thank you so much!
Can you try removing the head rest on the passenger seat and put the board up higher by using the dashboard and top of the seat?
Btw, Your filming is so much better!
I never thought about removing the headrest. It's not like I use it or need it. I wonder how hard it is to remove. I'll look into that. Thank you!!! And thank you so much for the compliment on my filming. I do think I'm trying harder!!! 💙
@@OutonaLimbwithKym very easy to remove. Lift it up and there’s this little thing you press.
Hun it aint going to cool off very goon unless you wrap some duct insulation around the hot air pipes. those pipes will defeat the purpose. plus you will have to put something like an insulated curtain to keep the heat from the motor from getting to the part you want cool. You may have to put some sort of a drip pan for the condensation to drip into. Bless Bob wells heart he was looking forward to AC also but he himself said those units like that are no good and he got sent a zero breeze..
Thank you so much. I plan on making another video using all the advice from everyone!!!
Turn the fans on. To help the a/c
Oh, yeah. I didn't think of that!!! Thank you!!!!
Hey Kym, It looks like the AC unit is a pain in the neck to use. Bob Wells Cheap RV Living, did a review just last week on AC units. He had similar issues that you're having. I really like my Max ceiling fan but I haven't been camping when it's been really hot. I've been looking at trading my van for Dodge Grand Caravan because of the extra storage and easier for me to get in and out of. Very frustrating!!! I hope you can find a way to use the AC unit. 🙂
Thanks, Nancy! It's just nothing fit right. I don't understand why things just don't fit like they should. Really ticks me off. I get crap for not reading the instructions. Then I read the instructions and it's full of lies. LOL!
I was hoping this would really make a difference 😢 Laura just bought a thing that goes in your window and has the holes for ac vents. Maybe she can chime in and tell you what it is.
I have a regular portable a/c. It only has one duct. Three is crazy! I ordered a window insert from Etsy for my one duct so I don’t have to makeshift(like, stuff clothes in)to keep the open window area covered. Mine is 5,000 BTU and cools my entire van. Of course, power is the issue. Without an electrical supply it will gobble up a power station battery super quickly.
I may need to upgrade my power. A Jackery 3000 is very tempting right now!
I was hoping to love it! Bummer!
PS you’re supposed to sleep with her blowing on you. It will never cool off the whole van unless you’re insulated and have every single window blocked out with insulation then it may cool off the van. She’s had hers for over a year and it does not work well with your windows wide open like that she has a cover all her windows with two layers of reflectiix…… you can give that a try👍🏻
Yeah, the second time I was in the garage and I was hoping it would at least cool down the inside of the vehicle. I can't imagine being out there under the sun and this a/c doing much!
Also, if you blocked off the cab area with a curtain or something, I think that would help a great deal.
This had me cracking up!!! Because I felt the same way about those mini ACs. Why are there so many hoses? How to make this cute and organized? LOL
Ridiculous, I know. Someone will make a fortune if they can solve this problem.
What if you used your car’s A/C to cool off the inside, then turn on that portable A/C to maintain the cooled air from your car A/C
That's an idea!! Definitely worth a try. Thank you!
Bob Wells did a thorough review of those types of portable a/c’s. It can be found on his channel. Bottom line, he does not recommend them. Worth watching his review.
Oh, thanks!! I will check it out.
Is it necessary to have the two tubes venting outside? Or is one an intake vent? I'm just thinking of my home portable AC and it's the type that needs only one venting out.
Probably not necessary. I really messed up that whole attempt. I'm actually going to make another video and this time I'm going to take deep breaths and keep the AC unit outside the SUV.
Plus Kym you are suppose to leave DRIVER SIDE free incase you have to jump to the front seat and drive off incase of emergency…lol lol
I know!!! I need a bigger vehicle!!!!! 😩
Looks like a cozy spot for a snake 🐍
Yeah, not liking that tunnel exposed like that either!
@@OutonaLimbwithKym all sorts of critters would love that
😱
Yeah I can’t see using one of those ac’s in a car or van. I think the way to go in a van would be an upright floor model ac vented permanently out the side of your van. Can’t see anything working for a car tho…good try tho!
Totally agree. I really can't imagine in a tent either!
Where did you get it and how much was it
The company gifted it to me. It's under $500, I believe.
I tried that in my conversion van. No good.
Yeah, just too bulky. It's great when it's right on my face though.
Hello there from Cali 🤗🐕🦺🦮🐩🐕🦺🦮
Hello there! Welcome!! Is it as hot as it is here!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ☀️😎☀️☀️☀️
Outdoor AC?
Maybe for a tent. They advertise taking it to the beach. SERIOUSLY!
❤😂
💙🦋🐦⬛
Put a nylon over the outside hole. 😂🤣
Good one. Keep out the bugs and spiders. I love this hack!!! Thank you!!!!
Oh that looks like it was so frustrating. New learning curves can be tedious. Glad it works to make it cooler inside for really hot days. Hope that critters can’t get in. You said snake, oh hell no! Lol need some kind of smaller holes for the vent tubes and some kind of covering to keep bugs and snakes out. You won’t like another frog in there ha! 💕
Oh, a mesh covering!!! Great idea. That's all I need!! I'm done with spiders and frogs!
@@OutonaLimbwithKym would your screen go down far enough to cover it?
