    Thanks for this extremely useful video! I am so grateful to come across this.. For someone like me with a design background and no experience in coding, it was really easy and convenient to follow.. The hack for generating static website after using inspect tool to include files fixed the issue for me which no other person explained in any tutorial.. You r a genius sir! :D

      @@jcwebtech Hi Jan, yes really useful and helpful indeed :) .. Needed one more small advice from you please. I uploaded my static files to Github repository which was looking and working fine until I put a custom domain I bought from GoDaddy. Now some icons and images are not showing on the website and when I inspect I see a couple of errors - "blocked by CORS policy: No 'Access-Control-Allow-Origin' header is present on the requested resource". Please suggest.

      @@SukhdeepSingh-sh6eb Did you export it for that custom domain in Simple Static? I suppose you did not, and that the switch between the domains on Github did not alter all the code and therefore is loading some of it resources via the old domain.

      in the plugin you have settings to export to view locally on your computer so you can test that before exporting it to upload online.

    This video was VERY helpful! Thanks so much for creating it! Just one quick question.. What happens when I want to modify the content of the HTML site? For example - I want to add a couple of new Blog posts and update the text on a content page. Do I just perform the updates on my Local WP build, then use Simply Static to re-generate the HTML and then re-upload to my web server? I presume I would need to do this every time I make new content? (Which is a bit of a downside, but the pros of no backend, speed and security far outweigh!)

    • @jcwebtech
      @jcwebtech  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You are accurate in your assumptions, it is not suitable for website that changes a lot. On the other hand when you do this couple of times and find and fix all pottential issues, it only takes you about a minute to export and upload. There are payed solutions that automate it like payed versoin of this plugin for example.

      @@jcwebtech Thanks again for making this video! I now have a static WP website in production and it's incredibly speedy! I'm doing all of the maintenance and updates locally, then just generating the static site and pushing it through FTP within minutes. If you don't already have a video on the paid version that automates the upload, it could be a helpful one!

    Tengo una web de más de 100.000 páginas, no quiero clonarla toda, solo algunos directorios, puedo hacer eso con solo una categoría? o tiene que ser la web completa? mi web es muy grande, y no quiero copiar toda la web, solo algunas categorías. Gracias

    • @jcwebtech
      @jcwebtech  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Por acaso estaba jugando co eso hace unos dias. Sí es posible, puedes copiar todo el contenido a la carpeta public_html de una instalación de wordpress, eliminar los directorios que equivalen a las paginas que no quieres que sean estaticas y las tienes publicadas como paginas wordpress. Solo tiene una trampa, tienes que cambiar el nombre de la carpeta wp-content en la instalación de wordpress de donde exportas o en la a donde lo vas a copier porque si no, acabarás con dos carpetas con el mismo nombre en el mismo directorio. Pero hay guias en el internet como hacer eso. O sea el workflow seria: 1) Migrar el sitio web a nueva instalacion 2) cambiar nombre de wp-content y meter las paginas que quieres tener estaticas en draft 3) Exportar todo de la antigua con Simple static 4) subir a public_html de la nueva 4) Eliminar los directorios que llevan las paginas que tienes publicadas con wordpress. And now I realised I should have written it in english for everyone to benefit. Well maybe Ill do video about it.

      @@jcwebtech (JCwebTECH English Translation) - GPT-4:
      I was actually playing with that a few days ago. Yes, it's possible. You can copy all the content to the public_html folder of a WordPress installation, delete the directories that correspond to the pages you don't want to be static, which you have published as WordPress pages. There's just one catch, you have to change the name of the wp-content folder in the WordPress installation from which you are exporting or to which you are copying because otherwise, you will end up with two folders with the same name in the same directory. But there are guides on the internet on how to do this. So, the workflow would be: 1) Migrate the website to a new installation 2) Change the name of wp-content and put the pages you want to keep static in draft 3) Export everything from the old one with Simple Static 4) Upload to public_html of the new one 4) Delete the directories that hold the pages you have published with WordPress. And now I realized I should have written it in English for everyone to benefit. Well, maybe I'll do a video about it.

    Thank you for making this in such detail. this was really insightful as I was looking for a method to see if this was possible.
    I had a quick question regarding plugins, in Wordpress backend the plugins are either automatically updated or you manually update them yourself from what I understand.
    Once you have all the new static site working and set up correctly on your hosting provider, do the plugins automatically update, or if not, how would you go about making sure they are up to date? Some I wouldn't need to worry about, but I have a specific one that I would like to keep up to date.
    Thanks again for the awesome tutorial! I will look forward to the follow-up video 👍

    • @jcwebtech
      @jcwebtech  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey, well I am not support of this plugin but I can try to point you the right direction. 301 stands for permanent redirection. It is used when some page wes removed and substituted with new one on a new link. It can be also redirecting from http to Https. This message means such a situation was detected and may create an issue. I would probably try to export it and see if there is in fact any issue or go around the website with devtools set to network and see if there is any 301 instead of 200 code and what is it... Or see if you have some redirecting plugin installed and what is set there. Sometimes it can be also functionality of your seo plugin

    • @jcwebtech

      I guess it depends where you are caching it, if on cdn then you should set it on cdn, if not you could set it via plugin before you export it.
