    Chuck, I’m not going to lie to you, this video is exactly what I needed to hear. I pinned this video in my “motivation” playlist. The “organize your thoughts from taking notes to giving notes.” This is really one of my main beliefs with how I really master a subject. I teach it to others. You really got me hooked here. But then saying “Your perspective is valuable.” “Will it be valuable to 1,000,000 people? Probably not. But, it needs to only be one.” Gosh. Boom. Mind-bomb. I love helping people. It’s why I do many of the things I do. I can do something that not everyone can, so I enjoy sharing it.
    I just started my homelab journey a few weeks ago while having some time off from surgery as a way to pass the time. Here I am three raspberry Pis and a repurposed enterprise HP server later and I was considering making a website, but I wasn’t really sure what to do. I have several ideas now.
    I love this video, not the first I’ve watched of yours, but YOUR perspective was so inspiring. It’s so relatable. I love it. Thanks so much!

    Of course I have a web site up and running. On my own Dell server. Who doesn't ?
    A.I. is a great tool. BUT, what do you learn from allowing a computer to code for you ? Or when your boss sees your site and ask you questions about it. And you stare at him/her with a blank face. They will know real fast, that you didn't do the work on it

      I kinda see this unraveling on the web already when I search for things: you have all these articles popping up on unfamiliar websites, which in itself could be "good" for whoever doesn't know that ChatGPT exists, but when you have "similar" articles plastered all over the f'ing search results page - all from no-name websites that did their SEO just a bit better - what have we done with this other than trash the web with AI noise?..
      What do you really do when you let AI design, code and write content for your website? Did you learn to construct websites? Did you learn how to design websites? Did you improve your writing skills? Did you contribute anything new to society that comes from your unique perspective and experience?.... no... you didn't do jack sh!t, and other people will recognize that by the common ways that AI writes. If that's the case, then why bother paying for that domain which after that 1st year will cost you much more than $0.99?..
      These videos can be really depressing sometimes... :\

      You learn how to use A.I when you use A.I, it's all about learning how to make a robot work for you, the whole point is for you to get going only with basics. Not a lot of people knew how to farm, but a lot learned how to use machines that did it for them.

    • @GrumpyDerg
      @GrumpyDerg 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @weekendwarrior3420 1. Because you want to set yourself apart from everybody else, and AI - due to its nature - often struggles with creativity, thinking outside the box and "taking the road less traveled". 2. Because the skills and experience you gain put you closer to the top 10% (if not within it) - those people are hard to fire and/or replace, at least in companies that don't "just want to put themselves on the web fast"; 3. Engineers who can work their way around the core technologies get paid more than "prompt engineers" and copy-pasters who are limited to what the glorified autocomplete algorithm and StackOverflow can give them. Rest assured, people who developed said AI generators are paid more per month than you will be paid per year using their work, and they will more easily find their next job if they were to be let go.
      Using AI to generate websites for you (and I'm not even talking about people who use it to generate the content) - puts you in the average at best. The average employee is paid below-average salary, and is the first to go when "trimming", "pivoting" or "restructuring" has to be done within the company. I wouldn't be very comfortable in that zone if I were you...

    Interesting explanation on learning at 13:07. I was just reading a study where they tested four groups of students, the ones that RECALLED the information, learned better than the students that read once, read multiple, or took notes. A website is still very much needed. When I look at someone's website, I see more than a youtube, or twitter or github account of that person, I see and understand more of the personality. A website is indeed a unique expression of himself, very much like a very own branding.

    As a teenager, learning website designing, I've got to say, the first part of this video really shook me because of this whole AI something taking over web design, but I felt a sense of relief as the video went on. I do think at some point AI's gonna massively influence web designing, but not now or maybe I'm just deluded. Anyways its a great skill to have.

    The perspective on life that this adventure gave me opened up new possibilities for me. Nowadays, I am uploading content to TH-cam with my partner and continue to strive to excel and step out of my comfort zone. Even though this video is sponsored the reason to have a website with the weightage given by you was very much appreciated. It has all the teachings the free stuff, techniques everything in simple terms. The end card of how not sharing what you know is like commiting a sin made me think about it again and again. Overall this video goes into my favourite section and I will watch it again. By the way your daughters are very lucky to have you as their father and keep sharing your legacy to them like always so that they may inspire other young women like them in the future like how you were inspired by someone you said in your video. Thank you been thinking about this for a week without seeing your video and the universe (great mother goddess) bought me here. I see it as her calling. Thank you thank you and thank you so much for this video and information provided. Love you brother.❤🎉

    Creating a tutorial of what you're learning is basically how I taught myself what I needed to know about HTML markup, JavaScript and later on CSS. So the process of needing to share what you've learned while you're still learning can work a whole lot better than not sharing your stuff. ;)
    So what you've done here is very interesting, as it gets people to dive into something they'd never bother about doing before. Originally I wanted to share the stuff I did with Realbasic. Trouble is, I didn't have a website in which to share it. So, that's when I went down that route. Or should I say rabbit hole. LOL

    Hey Chuck, I got to thank you for so much of the content you create and share. You inspired me to pursue something I would have never thought of pursuing. Thanks to your videos, I was able to get myself into networking and it all started with the pihole on the raspberry pi, just blocking the ads on my local network. From there I started to get more invested in networking, and eventually self host my on website. Because of that I was able to prove myself to potential employers and managed to land a NOC tech job for an ISP. It has been a lot of fun learning more and more. Thank you Chuck!!! I hope I can inspire others too just the way you did to me.
