I think how you decided to go with the rubber front floor carpet in the bunk and seat covers was a smart move for the type of work your doing. Love the truck man you should be very proud!
I like the seat covers better. As you showed the coffee being spilled, and the coke, milk shake, hot dog trimmings of mustard, ketchup and relish, french fries, chicken tenders and M&M's all over you, the seat, and the floor - it's seat covers for me !!!!! Nice job on the rubber floor mat, great choice over rug !!! She is starting to look like an award winning show truck now, everything coming together !!! It is such a good feeling to see something you have planned and done yourself - it is an extension of you !!!!! I see the quality craftsmanship, pride and happiness in your work. Well done !!! Looking forward to the next video !!!!!!!
That's so Cool that You and Twinstick are doing the same thing to your Truck's and You call your Truck Old Red and Twinstick calls His Old Blue l think that it's Awesome that the Both of You are Restoring your Truck's and are going to use them that's just Awesome to see and watch your progress your Truck is looking Amazing can't wait to see it finished I'm sure You can't either Take Care Brother Enjoy your Day
Definitely nothing wrong with those seats. They're covered anyway so if they're comfortable then I myself would roll with it. But it's your truck and your money. The idea of rubber floor on front and carpet in the sleeper is the way to go. I agree with easier to clean the front and soft on the toes in the morning.. excellent job EZ.
Cab looks great, nothing wrong with the seats in there, you've been right so far! You've done a remarkable job, your so close to the finish ...hope we get to see it regularly after the build is done, you know the experience off the truck at work or maintenance
Our trucks over the pond are great because the top steps are covered so we can kick our boots off and leave them outside. It’s amazing how doing that keeps the dust down. Looking better with every episode! 👍🏼
I would like to Congratulate you Sir your a genius seems you’ve built a truck from scratch , you’ve done Each trade yourself I’ve really enjoyed watching your videos your taking great pride in your Work
I ride with my shoes off, so I cut a piece of carpet for the drivers side, just pull it out and knock the dirt off. Keep the covers, paint the pedals. Enjoyed as always, THANKS
You are doing one hell of a job on that old truck I have watched every episode from the very beginning and haven't missed one yet me and my children look forward to watching your videos when you post them , they love old red and always saying dad can we go for a ride lol , keep up the great work on the restoration and on the videos we love you channel and we really look forward to alot more content from you
As far as what I think about the seats and seat covers, it doesn’t matter to me. It’s your build. I’m just happy you’re documenting it for us to watch and/or learn. Thanks for that!
The more I see of this project Ezra, the more addicted I become, those seat covers are great, for your kind of work they are practical, a fantastic job, I love it. Can't wait to see it pulling a nice load out on the road, all due respect to you.
I like the thick heavy insulated rubber down myself, front and back. You can always throw some heavy rugs down as you like here and there. Rubber is so easy to clean and maintain.
I’m sure most will say new seats but it’s a big expense and not their money. I like the seats once you put on the covers. Matches the interior nicely and if the seats still have good support then why bother just yet. Get the truck all buttoned up and put her to work then decide once she starts making you money. She’s coming along beautifully my man
@@charlesscott1493 yeah, Ive been working my truck hard and my seat is so uncomfortable and I'm dying for a nice Bostrom wide glide but I'm so cheap lol
Hi EZ yep don't worry about your choice in rubber floors for the cab after 4 years of hauling spuds for Con Agra I can guarantee you there will be times you'll cry when you see the interior of your truck no way you can keep it clean. Looking good now, thanks for the video.😊Wait until you have about 1/2 inch of dust and dirt on your new seat covers.........
Couldn't agree more with the rubber floors. Manual locks, windows and rubber floors are the way to go. Interior is looking really good, even though i don't like grey the door panels look really nice. You're building a great working truck that is increasing in value that it will hold. A couple of the police style adjustable spot lights would be super cool.
Your wife might get a kick out of this I was watching one of your videos and your face was actually clean when you got done. I love watching your videos, and you're not afraid to tackle any jobs on that truck
My most recent truck was an '04 Pete tri-axle log truck, and when the cab carpeting got bad in it, I got the brain dead idea to go with hardwood flooring. Looked beautiful, stained and polyurethaned, sound deadener mat under it. Fabulous!! Until you got in it with muddy boots on. Scratched it all to hell. Wish I went with a rubber mat like you just installed. I will give it a thumbs up for the seat covers! If you have a hot air heat gun, you can soften the covers up and tighten them to a more formed fitting. Don't get to close with it though...lol.
Love it. My routine of watching you and a couple of other tubers was with my wife. We sat thru all your video's. Today I looked at the steering wheel your wife bought and how my wife got a smile so big from it. Keep your family dreams going.
I ran those same seat covers in my 2013 KW T800 heavy haul truck and I'm with you...I don't like seat covers but as far as seat covers go they're about the best bang for ur buck. U will have to keep flattening them out and tightening them up but they're about the best economical choice out there. Keep up the great work. Can't wait to see it all finished.
Like you said, it's a work truck. With having your dog in the truck the seat covers really save the material, and it's easy in and out to wash them. Good call!
You're going to really enjoy those seat covers. We put them in our new T880 and for a work truck they look pretty good and are very durable. Very happy with them. Good choice on the rubber mats, only way to go if you work off paved roads a lot!
I really like the “ Old Red “ project !! I watched all the episodes in 3 days so I could catch up to we’re you are now!!! Amazing transformation!!! You definitely have a passion for trucks and I really like how you explain everything you do to “Old Red” !!! Keep doing what you do and we will definitely catch you on the next one 😎✌️
I always feel exhausted after watching your videos, I give you 100% for the effort and things you do on your own especially the cutting of the chassis the only similar thing I have done was a new rear chassis on my land rover and that was with help.
Brilliant video again mate. Definitely done the right thing putting the rubber in the cab 100%. And the seats are good for the job. You’re not gonna see them anyway fella 👍 one beautiful truck. Stay safe bro. Regards from south London England 🏴
As your going to be using the truck for work I would go with those seats and the seat covers they look cool anyway 👍 You can always change them out in the future if they get scuffed up but I think they'll do just fine and they look comfortable and that's what you need for long journeys. By the way the inside looks amazing is there no end to your talents 😎
I put seat covers on everything , cheaper to replace a seat cover than a complete seat when you have grease somewhere and sit in the truck . Looking good Ezra👍🏽
I have had that same brand of seat cover on my seat for 4 years held up very well but the sun fade made it time for a new one searched for something a little better looking and form fitting to the seat I got the redline seat covers from Raneys there laser cut for excellent fit and they look sharp they have a gray and black might be worth a look truck is looking awsome
Seats look great, their practical its a work truck. You can upgrade when you feel like it. Awesome job on fitting the rubber floor, really superb. Good old Guitar town kicking it in the background 🎸👍.
Keep the seats. If they were structurally bad ,that would be different. They are going to be covered anyway. It's going to be a great looking work truck either way. Nice job Ezra.
Go with the seat covers. Seeing that you travel with your dog plus all the places that you have to work in. Truck is coming along nicely. Keep making great videos.
Great call on the floor covering! I had a red 84 Pete and I ordered it with same type of setup and never regretted it. So easy to clean. Really enjoy watching your channel. Greetings from MN.
You and Twin-Sticks do an Excelent Job at Restoring those old Irons, i love it! makes me wanna do it myself everytime too when i watch one of your videos^^ I do perfer the Actual Working Truck you put together then the "show" truck of Twin-Sticks but i love both of them! Keep on Trucking! :)
Keep with the seat covers if you're going somewhere special take them off Red is a wonderful working truck she looks magnificent! Alan Northern Ireland 👍
I think for all the hardworking days Jimmy puts in he shouldn’t have to worry about messing up the seats. Seat covers are a smart move. They look utilitarian but it’s a work truck and you need to be comfortable, even if you’re the copilot; right Jimmy.
I agree with keeping the seat covers! Seats can always be bought and put in later! Plus seat covers will buy you time in the long run to decide if you wanna keep using seat covers or not! That interior is MINT! Good job EZ! Already excited for the next episode
I’ve got wood floors in the cab and I love it. Gets foot prints and dirt on it, take a damp towel to it and good as new, the easiest floor I’ve ever had in a truck to keep clean.
Ezra, once again you’ve produced another brilliant episode!!!!!! I agree totally with the rubber cab flooring. My last two pickups have had it. I think that it’s the only real practical solution for someone who will keep getting in after being in the dirt. It hoses right out. I’m not a seat cover fan. With the dog, he’d tear up the interior, which you’ve worked so hard to install. My dislike is over non breathable material. It just makes you feel sticky after sitting on it. If you find this to be the case, maybe just some old blanket would work. Then you can just pull it out and wash it between runs. I just know that you’re smart enough to come up with a workable solution in the end.
Sure enjoying the restoration videos. Little by little 👌👌 "The World Meets Nobody Halfway, when you want something, you gotta take it" -Sylvester Stallone, 1987
@@Ezrider359 well considering the facts you said with the dog and heavy haul seat covers might not be the most appealing but they are seat savers they also help with smell(because they can be easily washed). I say fuck it your truck your living space prolly the better idea! And save a couple bucks on seats!
I agree with the rubber floor up front. My Kenworth t401 has a rubber floor and it's very practical for a working truck, cleans very easy and comes up nice with tyre shine as you mentioned. Carpet would be nice for a week, but it's way too hard to keep it looking clean. People end up using towels and mats over the carpet anyway.
I agree, rubber floor is the best way to spec a working truck. I drive for a recycling company, no matter what I do ( besides strip to my underwear before getting in the truck) I’ll get dirt somewhere in the truck. I drive with no shoes and take great care of my truck, but the seats always manage to get something on them. Unless your going with a leather seat and even then with your four legged copilot use the covers. You can take them off if you want to show off the truck at any time.
I have tried running with my pup he is the same rough on the interior I just worry about him messing up my k100 interior so I leave him at home now k100 parts are too hard to find and I definitely don’t have the money to spend on a beautiful new interior from the day cab company yet maybe one day keep it up Ezra !!!
Yeah he will wear down the edge of a seat within 2 years if left uncovered otherwise he doesn't do any damages other than constantly cleaning up hair...lol
I think the seat covers are the practical solution to your problems you have described about your working life - wet weather, mucky ground conditions etc and a) having a dog in the cab and b) using the truck as your working vehicle. Afterall it is cheaper than having the seat fabric repaired/replaced or splashing out on new seats. Does the "new" seats have in-seat electric heating or in seat cooling? Possibly heating - doubtful cooling? I use seat covers but have found that cheap ones move around too much and often make you sweat in hot weather and don't last long whereas those made of what seems to be made of a heavy grade canvas type of fabric wear really well, don't move much at all, will warm up (and don't melt with seat heating) but I hardly sweat on them in hot weather. However they are expensive and you need a good drying weather when you wash them - I use a pressure washer and a soluble washing liquid to clean them NOT a washing machine! Incidentally they resist letting water through them if I sit in them wearing a wet coat or forget to close the window!
seat covers do a job...ya gotta be able to make it all work for what your doing with the truck... so go for it! i like the effort you're putting in with the project. nice job!
Put a boot scraper/brush on the step. I put them on my trucks. It helps! I also have blow guns in the cabs too. I'm thinking of getting a Milwaukee cordless vacuum cleaner.
Love your videos. you helped me out doing wheel bearings on my truck this week. Thank you. I put a new floor in my 379. I used dynamat for sound deadening on the metal, then i used antifatigue matting as a subfloor over that, then i topped it off with homedepot vinyl simulated flooring planks. Looks like hard wood. Came out insane looking.
Since this is a working truck and not just for show only, you should just do whatever is the most practical for you. Sure, looks matter, but in the end, user comfort is a must have when you're using it for your work.
Only found your channel the other day but I'm all caught up now on the Pete's progress and I love it, the interior is stunning and those covered seats wouldn't bother me at all, if they are comfortable then I'd just stick with them
amaaaazing restoration, i found your channel exactly the day, you published the proyect of an old truck you found, and bought... so i've been following the progress... and it was an amazing journey... btw, i preffer without the seat covers... keep it great...!!!
Excellent vid once again Ezra! In my opinion if your going to run with seat covers because of good ol' Jimmmy, then save your money brother and just use the seats you have. Just my opinion, but you can take the money saved on the new seats and add more cool stuff to Red! Stay safe brother.
I agree on rubber floors when you spill that big cup of coffee or large ice coffee take that fancy rug and throw it away cause that damn coffee smell lasts a long time just easier to keep clean and you can wash it and make it clean again in the winter I throw some cheap rug cut offs over it to suck up the salty slush from my boots and throw it away when it gets shitty
You will like you seat covers. Put them in my 2017 heavy haul 389 I'm in and out every hour or so they have held up great. When u get grease on them just a little break cleaner will clean them up
The truck is looking great 👍. As a work truck, it’s probably best to use seat covers no matter which you chose to use. I think everything looks good the way it is. I admire your work man.
Glad you liked my work ( I’m the James stamped on the backside of your panels)

However they are expensive and you need a good drying weather when you wash them - I use a pressure washer and a soluble washing liquid to clean them NOT a washing machine! Incidentally they resist letting water through them if I sit in them wearing a wet coat or forget to close the window!
The rubber floor mat is the only way to go for a working truck. Ole Red is coming along real nice.
Thanks 👍
Go with the seat covers .trucks looking fabulous.
Truck is lookin proper dude. I love the black and grey. Keep making it happen dude!
My dog Harley’s seat has a seat cover also. The truck is turning out great.
seat covers do a job...ya gotta be able to make it all work for what your doing with the truck... so go for it! i like the effort you're putting in with the project. nice job!
Put a boot scraper/brush on the step. I put them on my trucks. It helps! I also have blow guns in the cabs too. I'm thinking of getting a Milwaukee cordless vacuum cleaner.
Classic interior just beautiful and that dashboard
Love your videos. you helped me out doing wheel bearings on my truck this week. Thank you. I put a new floor in my 379. I used dynamat for sound deadening on the metal, then i used antifatigue matting as a subfloor over that, then i topped it off with homedepot vinyl simulated flooring planks. Looks like hard wood. Came out insane looking.
Since this is a working truck and not just for show only, you should just do whatever is the most practical for you. Sure, looks matter, but in the end, user comfort is a must have when you're using it for your work.
Only found your channel the other day but I'm all caught up now on the Pete's progress and I love it, the interior is stunning and those covered seats wouldn't bother me at all, if they are comfortable then I'd just stick with them
Welcome aboard!
What a difference man EZ RIDER you are damm good at everything you do buddy.
Thanks 👍

The seat covers are like the rubber floor: Perhaps not the best looking option, but definitely the one with the most practicality in a working truck.
Ez, i just installed a legacy low in my 379. I think its super comfy. Just my info to you, keep up the awesome work. That interior is beautiful.
Next time I am in North Dakota, I would love to see her
Lookin good. I’d run it with those seat as long as you’re keeping the covers on there.
amaaaazing restoration, i found your channel exactly the day, you published the proyect of an old truck you found, and bought...
so i've been following the progress... and it was an amazing journey...
btw, i preffer without the seat covers...
keep it great...!!!
Definitely the right choice to have the rubber flooring in the cab, you can always get carpet mats.
Excellent vid once again Ezra! In my opinion if your going to run with seat covers because of good ol' Jimmmy, then save your money brother and just use the seats you have. Just my opinion, but you can take the money saved on the new seats and add more cool stuff to Red! Stay safe brother.
You make everything seem easy
It has come along ways the interior looks awsome doing a fine job sir
I agree on rubber floors when you spill that big cup of coffee or large ice coffee take that fancy rug and throw it away cause that damn coffee smell lasts a long time just easier to keep clean and you can wash it and make it clean again in the winter I throw some cheap rug cut offs over it to suck up the salty slush from my boots and throw it away when it gets shitty
You will like you seat covers. Put them in my 2017 heavy haul 389 I'm in and out every hour or so they have held up great. When u get grease on them just a little break cleaner will clean them up
i just love watching your show
The truck is looking great 👍. As a work truck, it’s probably best to use seat covers no matter which you chose to use. I think everything looks good the way it is. I admire your work man.
Looking good👌really like that rubber mat floor in the front
Thanks 👍
