Remember when you sat on that swing with Kim waiting for the tide to recede? Remember the dice maker in the tower? DE doesn't just have great atmosphere, it has great... *moments* .
Remember when you finally unlocked that dammed blue door? When you first entered the church? When you first woke up? When the world came crashing down into a 2mm hole? When you turned on Kim’s radio? When you were first called tequila? When you first sat in the worlds deadliest chair? When you connected the dots? Or when you had your first conversation with a strange woman renting the room 2 doors on your left? Because I do. And if you experienced them as well: I bet you remember them too. Fucking hell, what a good game.
It's truly a rare game. There's no filler content. I've never actually experienced this in any game before - this feeling of near-perfect suspension of disbelief.
This made me realise how precious and special human made art is. I feel warm and happy to see the names attached and they motivate me to create something beautiful.

As incredible as the writing and art is, DE wouldn’t be half of what it is without the involvement of Sea Power. Both the OST, the inspirations, the cool references to their songs… and general vibe. The game is flooded sprinkled with their influence, and they have a much more important role than just incredible musical artists… They’ve set the tone. As in, the writing is definitely inspired by the vibes of their songs.

I am not saying that DE isn’t a masterpiece, quite the opposite - everything in this experience is supporting each other, like an arch. If one thing goes missing, it all falls apart imo. Which is true for almost all masterpieces. I’ve recently played Outer Wilds, another masterpiece imo, and that game, just like DE, wouldn’t have been half of what it was without Andrew Pharlow’s music. Skyrim too btw, by far not a masterpiece but a very nostalgic game for many and ultra successful like it or not, and probably some of the strongest memories attached to that game are it’s music. You need to evaluate a piece of media from all it’s angles and consider all of it’s pieces. SP didn’t just make the OST for DE, they also set the tone and a lot of the themes. The original creators were fans of their work for a while, and the game is choke full of references and ideas that feel like they are SET inside a Sew Power song.

I teared up when I was done chatting with the jeweler who made dice, and I caught the ones that were meant... For Harry. It's a strange game. Players falling into the boots of the detective and straight from the beginning you are facing same questions as the character, with quite convincing reasonings. It still fits you in there. The fool who really has no idea what to do. Reels you in with the flashing surroundings and questions. Disco elysium... All the points of interests are just sparkles that shine in from the mirror ball. Life is one big disco?
I think about everything happening with this game in the real world. How we'll probably never experience more of it, at least more of what the first game was. But i look at both of their faces and i feel okay again, even if never seeing more of them feels like never seeing them again.
I love how she was a character you only interacted with for a couple minutes, but they still managed to give her so much personality and make you feel so much for her, and she felt like a real person with an actual backstory (partly because Titus talked about how she was always there for them when they were kids). Love this game.
I listen to Sea Power, like, all the time now. Thanks to Disco Elysium, I discovered them. My most favorite song ever is Remarkable Diving Feat, but whole album it's from is great. They can’t ruin the IP With a sup par sequel anymore after kicking out those who made this game so special. Be happy knowing that this game and everything about it has inspired so many creatives, and Disco will live on through what is made going forward.

Before Disco Elysium, I was very cynical about the RPG genre, partly because I had the preconceived notion that games with heavy story couldn't really provide as meaningful gameplay as something more sandbox orientated, where you have more freedom --Yes I play Morrowind how could you tell?-- Then I played Disco Elysium and I realized how wrong I was. This game is Great with a capital G.

Finished today my first run, what an experience It is undoubtedly one of my favourite games ever, writing, world building, ambience etc. are all mindblowing, I miss it so much already
Why this sequel obsession is so tiring. Every other comment is waaah, I want more, I need to experience this for my whole life. You will probably have the means to replay it in 30 years with your grand-kids, but in the meantime go to the myriad other strands of life and fiction, we have games like this, we have books and movies like this, you need to put a little bit of work to find them. Sea Power's impact on this game hits the same as Jesper Kyd's music did for me in the Hitman series or even the Darksiders games. It's incredible what a difference these experiences are without emotionally powerful music to underline their stories.

I just finished Disco about three days ago. Such an amazing experience... The music definitely helped set the atmosphere... Very hard core.
