Thank you Doug, still catching up with your back catalogue and so enjoying your sketching technique. My sketchbook has taken on a new life. I sat in the garden yesterday and sketched the garden shed, the hose reel, the side fencing with roof tops and trees. I thought to myself, ‘Thank you Doug’. You have certainly changed my sketching outlook.
I hung on until the end because I LOVED every minute of your video! Thanks for explaining why you made the choices you did and, oh my gosh! What a beautiful result. I especially loved the bright colours and the idea of sketching out the ‘mini-scenes’ beforehand in order to facilitate your colour choices. It must be a load of fun living in the Jackson household! Much love to you and your family ❤️
The thing I love most about your style, is the contrast in your line work. How you use super loose lines for things "out of focus" and crisper ones for where you want the eye to focus on.
Love this sketch!Have to agree,I’m so glad there are little jewels of our buildings dotted around our cities,in Nottingham where I am,there are lovely old buildings mixed in with new builds,so grateful we still have protected buildings!I love the colours you have used here Doug,on my watercolour attempts, which are less than a handful!!I am always uncertain on just how much paint to use and always amazed at how light watercolour dries!I only have very basic paints so would love info on what is ideal for new starters etc…Great tutorial once again!Thank you!❤
Thanks Bev. Nottingham has some amazing building and some great spots for urban sketching. I need to do a tutorial on swatching. Its a really useful technique for getting to know your watercolours.😁
It's because off the people and the history i have to come back to your country every year!! If possible by bicycle. Like your drawings very much. Reflections are great! Thanks! I am from the Netherlands.
I love the Netherlands too. I've visited many times and always love to return. I've travelled a lot less since we started a family but I'm really looking forward to getting back into it.
@@Momabearsews Hi there and welcome. For perspective I mainly just use good old fashioned observation. Occasionally if it's a detailed sketch I'll plan it properly but it depends on the mood. How do you approach it?
I just discovered your channel today and I’m hooked. I love how you keep the sketching and painting fun and bright. Thank you
Thank you so much!

This was awesome! It reminds me of Rainbow Row in Charleston, SC.
Thanks 😁

Thank you Doug - I just found your channel and find it quite interesting. Question: How do you keep your 'perspective' in check?
