- In this video I cover the pros/cons of each of the Mercedes-Benz W211 AMG eclass cars and will help guide you when choosing between the two cars on the used market. The E55 vs. E63 question is one of the most popular questions I get in the comments. The E55 AMG ran from 2003-2006 and the E63 went from 2007-2009.

E63 is the car to choose, if you want to listen to that amazing naturally aspirated V8 while limping it into the shop all the time.

It involves draining the coolant, locking the cams, pulling the belt etc etc so I don't recommend changing them by yourself if you don't have any experience.
You can buy both. There is no mistake here. Both cars are amazing!
@BMW ///M Power you can remedy the heat soak issues with an intercooler, and it's way too easy to get stupid power off the m113k, though the m156 with the sorted head bolt problem is my favourite motor from this era

Nice, real, and fair evaluation for both of the cars . I owned an E 55T and now an E 63T . What I would add: The E63 has a much firmer and saver suspension . May be not that important for the US, but here in Germany, where you legally can go 186 mph on the street ( both cars are able to) the E 63 will prevent you from sweat in the hands. The E 55 will need an experienced driver
to handle it savely above 160 mph.

Great video and on point . My old 2007 e63 had 162k and really never had any issues with her .. no deadbolt..nothing aside from cracked radiator, ballpoints and brakes .she was a mean beast
Nice comparison video. I would choose the E63 because I really like the facelift and the technical upgrades over the E55. I know that it suffers from the head bolt issue and I think the fuel injectors as well but the E63 suits me fine with 507 naturally aspirated horse power.

RuVik because why not have a supercharged motor that holds better timing records and cheaper to maintain and more reliable? With such similar body style

E55 for me!!! but change the front end to the E63.... Mainly bc I like the vents on the bumper 😀

great video as always, man. i will always choose the e55 as it's much cheaper to modify as far as power mods go. the NA power is insignificant and combined with the engine problems like the head bolts I always hear about is a big minus. i think an e55 with e63 bumpers and lights would be my ultimate w211.

Headbolts, cam adjusters, lifters, camshafts, the first generation 722.9 7-speed gearbox - all of these are reasons why I avoided the E63 personally.
E55s lights are its biggest flaw

That is one clean E55 engine bay! Great comparison. Love my 06 E55, they aren't easy to find anymore. I'm over 160,000 miles and plan on getting 300,000 out of it
My 2003 has near 109k, there's one on youtube with over 400k miles.
My 03 has 210k on it and it’s a monster!!

I'll take the CF-101 Voodoo! As a boy, I used to watch them open the Abbotsford Air Show out in the Fraser Valley of BC. A division of Voodoos crossing show center in full AB was awesome. Great video. I'm still on the fence about a final year E55 or a W212 6.3 E63. I'm a sucker for a big N/A V8 and I would never modify it. I would have no problem keeping up with the maintenance and taking it apart for the head work.

VJDM no it's not. E63 all day. More refined and special feeling with that naturally aspirated 6.2
Just "better" engine but e63 facelift body removes tens of major nuances from w211.

How do I decide between the different S Class models?
This was the most in between video out there.
Both amazing cars it comes down to reliability and feeling. Which ever matters more to you then makes the choice easy.
I like the E55 in every way including looks, it's much more sleeper, if I buy an AMG or M car I want to drive sporty and not draw attention

Truth has been spoken thumbs up man! E63 is certainly more refined and rev happy but the E55 is just a classic big old strong brute that pulls like a train and for me personally one of the best german muscle cars.

E55 always. Mine is a sleeper and second favourite only to my G-wagen. Have driven an E63 and is great, but seriously the E55 has more torque and feels so much better off the line. Sounds better too. I'll never sell mine.

I’d get a low mileage e55 and just do the e63. Bumpers front and rear with defusers, get a big brake kit a tune, exhaust, pulley kit ! Make a cool 😎 600 crank hp while riding in comfort oh yeah and also I’d change the head lights as well and I’d be super happy 😃

It's all about the heart, in this case the engine. M113K has long been proven to be bulletproof. As opposed to M156 with head bolt issues and cam wear issues. Not to mention the performance upgrades available for the 55k platform. Lastly I'm starting to notice that they're asking more money for a clean E55 than a clean E63 with about the same miles.

My favorite Mercedes, especially with coilovers. Just wish they could swap out the 722.6 transmission for the 722.9...
So is every single other Benz in silver, so beautiful. The SL, CL, maybe only the S550 unless it has black accents.

E55.... early 63 had the infamous head bolt breakage problems. At least its not as bad as the the 996 Porsche 911 IMS issue

The facelift was more then minor, it makes a huge difference on the appearance. Although I do agree the E55 is a better car.
Just bought my E55. Absolutely love the car. Drove a couple of E63’s just decided the E55 fits my needs or wants better.

Having the newer model Benz’s is more a symbol of power and wealth. The 2003-2010 line ups are every bit as classy and beautiful speaking on Mercedes in general.

I like the E63 and the 6.3 engine. Would drive as is and no need to modify. Sounds hands down best.
