Wireless printer connection problem solved

Hi all. My name is Vicki and I am the owner of a little print business called Peaceful Heart Studio. I recently invested in a new A3 wireless Epson xp970 printer and I ran into some problems when trying to connect the printer to my laptop wirelessly. It took me a day to solve and I couldn't find much online about my issues so I thought I would share this quick video in the hope it helps someone out. I had both my printer and laptop connected to the same network and both had a stong signal but the computer despite finding the printer would not connect to it. I had all the correct drivers etc. installed. I contacted Epson about the connectivity problem and confirmed the issue was probably due to me having a dual band WiFi router meaning the computer is connected to one channel on my router and the printer is connected to another. I have pasted the advice given below.
Explanation: Printers can only connect to 2.4ghz frequency. Most people nowadays have a dual band router that emits 2.4g and 5g. Sometimes 2.4ghz is disabled or low priority. If your computer is set to 5ghz and the printer is on 2.4ghz, they won’t be able to communicate . What the Internet service provider can do is enable you to connect to either frequency at will by giving you 2 distinct network names to log into. At this point I would suggest to contact your Internet service provider and ask the following: If you have a dual band router, please ask if they can split the two frequencies and give you two distinctly different network names, one for each of the two frequencies (2.4g and 5g) that way you will be able to choose which one you are logging into.
I contacted my internet provider and they solved the issue for me by turning of the 5ghz band and now my computer and printer are connected. I hope this helps someone out.
