I was able to aquire a few from the lunch ladys because they know I am a coin hunter,collector like you. They would always ask the child where they got the coins but the kids would lie and say their parents gave it to them. Usually it was pizza day. We even cought one child that had brought his lunch with him. The coin was so rare we called the parent in on it. That was one upset parent when they came to retrieve the coin and square up. I cant remember the year other than it was a Morgan Dollar and was an O. The lunch lady handed it to me first,I told her to contact the principal on that coin,I wasnt going to be a part of that mess. The others were just older coins,some silver ( they always traded me the silver for regular coins).

I went to a Safeway store and asked for any Kennedy halfs that I can buy. They had a dozen in a small tray that they were happy to have me take. Surprise! 4 of them were 40% silver! How lucky is that? I felt like I won the Lottery.
I searched a box of halves about a month ago, and thought I was going to have a heart attack! I did not find any NIFC or Proofs, but the brinks box, contained 7-40% silver, 2- '64s, 37-Walkers and 69-Franklins! Sadly though, my bank told me they did not have any more halves dollars so i ended my search for more. But I was extremely happy with that one box. Most of the coins were in vf+ condition (vf-au) so it probably sat in the bank for ages.
I used to manage a retail cell phone store in a poorer area and would check the tills at the end of every shift... you'd be surprised the amount of silver coins people unknowingly spend at face value

I went to my little small town podunk bank and they had entire rolls of mid-1960's coins and earlier... I guess no one in my town ever decided to get rolls of half-dollars from them. I bought them out over a 2 month period. Sometimes you get lucky, good find!

As soon as she left the bank, I called my dad & he came right over & bought them! He sold most of them & made a bunch of money! They were beautiful & silver! Dad shared half the profit with me 😊. The lady who brought them in, didn’t bank at the branch I worked at, so I didn’t see her for about a year! One day she did come back though, I knew her the minute she walked in, and she came to my window! She said she wanted to take her silver dollars out of her savings account 😢 I felt really sorry for her! She really did believe she could get them back! I did tell her that my dad had bought them, at that he ended up selling them, told her I was sorry that I didn’t tell her we didn’t save the money people put in their savings! But thinking how could people not know this? I felt bad, I’m really glad she didn’t ask how much dad made!! Really glad!! I can’t remember now, but it was a lot!

I love it when my customers come in straight from the Casino up here in Washington State, they give Halves to their customers and instead of cashing them in, they come to my store where I work at....I got quite a few Silvers, a couple of Benji's and a lot of Bicentennials which I add to my collection. I started coin roll hunting way back in 1979 after an accidental discovery. I ordered $50 worth of halves (100 coins) and $46 was silver, most of them 90%, including two Barbers, several Liberty Walkers and Franklins, but only 4 1964 Kennedys and only a few after 1964 but before 1971, Every week, after that on payday, I would go to different banks and have similar finds. Almost always there was more than half of the coins that had some measure of silver in them. After You Tube became popular, they became harder and harder to find. I had more than $20,000 in face value when I finally sold them when silver was going for over $45/ounce. I made out like a bandit mostly because I never told anyone what I was doing.

Junkies and addicts usually sell their parents coin collections or just steal them and use them as face value a lot of times for drugs. Probably how the proof coins got in there. I was in a convenient store at a gas station before talking with my friend and looking over old coins with him (he worked there), and some crackhead came in and was trying to sell a mess load of silver for prices that were laughable. She said they were hers but we both knew that she had no idea about what she even had. She returned a while later and spent them and a collector bill as face value for a chore boy, a tire gauge, and a pack of smokes. Chore boy and tire gauges are common crack smoking tools haha. I remember the majority of the coins were all silver. Among the coins were a couple of barber quarters, and some mercs... She also had a crisp red seal bill... I can't remember the date or face value but it was obviously from a collector. Rumor is that she stole her fathers collection but I can't verify that though. If you're wondering what happened to the money after that, my friend swapped his face value money for the collector money and held onto it since he was a fellow collector, but nobody came looking for it as far as I know.

At 18:40 you looked at a 1971 that appeared to be 40% silver. The mint made errors by stamping 40% Silver planchets that year, so you may have one like I do. I found 18 NIFC's in a box along with 1 proof, this week.

My grandma gave me a walking liberty half dollar, Ben Franklin half dollar, a 1902 V Nickel, a 1921 silver dollar and a 1923 silver dollar. She gave me 7 1964 Kennedy half dollars. I bought several coins as well. They include, a pack of 6 uncirculated 1930s buffalo nickels, a pack of war coins that were a 1943 steel penny, a 1944 nickel, a 1941 walking liberty half dollar, a 1943 Washington quarter, and a 1943 mercury dime. I bought packs of small packs coins as well. They include, 3 more 1943 steel pennies, a 1909 Lincon penny, an 1883 indian head penny, a 1957 proof wheat penny, a 1901 V nickel, an 1853 seated liberty dime, and an 1853 large cent. That was all from the same store.

How much are those NIFC's usually worth? I went through $1000 worth of halves and got nothing but possibly some NIFC's. You are so lucky to find a couple of 40% silver coins in addition to some proofs! 15:35 That has a nasty nick on Kennedy's neck though.
i like when you check rolls of coins. i do it small scale, two rolls of half dollars at a time. for clad, i only check the 1972s for lack of designer's initials on the back
I don't go through $500 boxes very often. I usually get customer rolled half dollars from the bank because I get better luck that way and it doesn't take as long to go through. I go through a $500 box every now and then. I got a score last week with 8 silvers in one roll and they were all 90% silver. 2 of them were Franklins.

Thank you for posting this. Because of this video I went to my bank and got four rolls of half dollars. One roll had one 1964 Kennedy. Two others were all 1964s and the last was a 2001 uncirculated roll!! I was extremely excited. I'm not sure the value of the 2001 D roll though. But it was a fun adventure. Thank you.
Nominal 50 cents to a dollar. There were some TH-cam videos on some of the 2019 and the 2018 ones going for very high in really good condition. For now it's mostly considered an investment, hopefully the values will change with time
I want to start doing this with pennies or dimes because they are cheaper and I think it would be fun. I also like to metal detect but I can right now because there's about 2-6 inches of snow.
Gotta love American money, gigantic coins and worth only 50 cents, somehow even silver ones still in circulation. At the same time also copper pennies circulate that are so worthless that the copper used in the coin is more valuable than the face value itself :D
at around 3:04 if you look closely to the coins you can see that there is one without the rim/lines on the side of the coin (i dont know the name of it)
There have been a few 1971 and 1976 40 percent half dollers made accidentally watch out for them very valuable.40 percent silver weigh 11.5 grams steel weigh 11.34 grams.

You missed something... That smooth-rim coin in the middle of the roll is a milliliter smaller than all the other halves. Freeze frame at 7:14 and verify my finding please. Thanks.
man i worked in the coin dept at Brinks for 15 years and at the height of the silver boom bout 5-6 years ago we had to wrap almost 100k a had in halves just to keep up becuse so many bank customers were ordering them to go thru.

I think the usual haul is something like 1-2 silver coins in a box, those proofs are quite uncommon to see in a roll, and they are also 90% silver.

Thank you for posting this. Because of this video I went to my bank and got four rolls of half dollars. One roll had one 1964 Kennedy. Two others were all 1964s and the last was a 2001 uncirculated roll!! I was extremely excited. I'm not sure the value of the 2001 D roll though. But it was a fun adventure. Thank you.

So, as far as the NIFC coins you find, how much to you typically make when you try to sell them?
Nominal 50 cents to a dollar. There were some TH-cam videos on some of the 2019 and the 2018 ones going for very high in really good condition. For now it's mostly considered an investment, hopefully the values will change with time

Gotta love American money, gigantic coins and worth only 50 cents, somehow even silver ones still in circulation. At the same time also copper pennies circulate that are so worthless that the copper used in the coin is more valuable than the face value itself :D

at around 3:04 if you look closely to the coins you can see that there is one without the rim/lines on the side of the coin (i dont know the name of it)
You should see the value of each coin that would be more interesting that’s what I was waiting for good job on the box though

You missed something... That smooth-rim coin in the middle of the roll is a milliliter smaller than all the other halves. Freeze frame at 7:14 and verify my finding please. Thanks.

man i worked in the coin dept at Brinks for 15 years and at the height of the silver boom bout 5-6 years ago we had to wrap almost 100k a had in halves just to keep up becuse so many bank customers were ordering them to go thru.
