      Maryann Lockwood ya I might do that. Though usually if I think I’m going to do a video on something, I won’t watch Lloyd’s dissection until after I do it because I don’t want to inadvertently pick up on the points he makes and make the same ones. This way, any points we both make is pure coincidence. I already watched this one so I’ll probably wait a while before addressing this Caleb and Sophia video

    I was in a car group once and a sister wrote "CD" next to a name when we got back in the car. I asked what it meant and she said "Chose Death". This was because they didn't accept literature. Also the sisters used to look at houses and say how they would choose this one or that one once Armageddon wiped out the current occupants. This was done in front of kids all the time. The judgmental "us vs them" attitude, the superiority, the obsession with appearances...all wrapped up in a nice little cartoon. So fun. Creepy.

    I recently had an adult woman call at my door. I politely listened to her presentation but noticed she was shaking like a leaf most likely from nerves. I felt really bad for her. It must be so difficult for a lot of them.

      Feel free to acknowledge the fear.
      You seem worried or afraid. Lets sit. Would you like a hot beverage?
      It has to be difficult to give a presentation with words and thoughts that actually come from other people. Lets wait on that for now. Today....lets just talk about how you feel being out here giving presentations.
      It is a paradigm shift when you realize....the visit does NOT have to be about the canned sales pitch but....about this poor person roped into giving some canned sales pitch to join a cult.
      You may not be interested in joining but you can reach out to the person at the door.

    Caleb and Sophia is the most heartbreaking indoctrination stuff they produce because its targeting children. They cannot tell right from wrong, it's just so sad how they give a child these terrible morals, creating broken and cult-dependent adults.

    • @Nocturnalux
      @Nocturnalux 6 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Yes! And it gets so hear-breaking in that we see Caleb and Sophia morphing from being normal, happy, happy-go-lucky kids who are happy their friend gave them a cool toy (who wouldn't want a friend like that!) or cool with their classmate having lesbian parents, into mindless drones who hate everyone and everything that is not JW-like.
      It is horrifying! The people behind this are presenting sweet kids with the occasional penchant for mischief as sinful, wrong and in need of being 'put right'.

    • @nasariv9309

      Actually this is teaching kids how to behave properly. When kids are preaching door to door they shouldn't be touching other people stuff nor running around that's disrespectful. This isn't a cult. Now it's up to the parent to make sure they behave this is a just a video for kids.

    I can assure the Watchtower that none of the bad impressions I have about Jehovah's Witnesses are due to the behavior of children. That was a good point, that they're trying to get children, who haven't reached the point of even being *able* to truly accept the religion, to preach it to others (adults) and try to get them to join.

    I wasn’t given a choice as a kid. Service was mandatory and if I said I felt sick or didn’t feel like going, my mom would send the Elders to our house to pick me up for field service anyway. On Sundays after the 2 hour meeting they would announce, “We are gathering in the back for afternoon field service.” Then my family would take me back there. I just wanted to go home.

    • @nasariv9309
      @nasariv9309 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's because your parents wanted the best of you. I understand it could be hard to go preaching all day and sit for 2 hours listening to a man talk. But it's what's Jehovah wants. As you get older or if your older now you can choose what you want to do
      Remember, you could always pray and it will make you feel better.

      Nasari Vlogs It’s what Jehovah wants? A God wouldn’t want kids to be indoctrinated into a religion, definitely not a religion that protects pedophiles. I was baptized at 11. As a brother, that meant the women in the congregation were subordinate. If I was the only brother that showed up for field service, I had to lead the meeting. Leading the meeting meant assigning the car pools/preaching groups, assigning the territory that would be worked, and praying over the day. There I was, 12 years old, in the middle of sisters arguing over whom should be paired with whom and why. And how humiliating to these adult women, many of which were full time pioneers and were infinitely more qualified and knowledgeable than I was. Going door to door was the least of my worries.

She will study more, pray more, go in service more, and isolate herself more from the sisters that are older and more experienced. I nodded and said, "Yes indeed - my favorite part of going out in service when I was a child was... getting a bowl of chocolate ice cream at the restaurant all of the brothers and sisters would "congregate at" (pun intended) after the door-to-door part was over!" 😉

    I absolutely HATED field service! I would make up any excuse not to go. Also hated meetings, conventions etc. Was born into this farce and it took me over 50 years to get out. The only thing I enjoyed about those things was being with others until I realized all that fellowship and friendship was conditional. I think the practice of forcing, yes forcing, your children to do this boarders on child abuse. Ask your child if he or she wants to go out and ask them for an honest answer telling them they do not need to and I bet 95% will stay home.

      It is child abuse.
      Making a child feel guilty about play....is child abuse.
      Making a child into an adult business salesman clone.....is child abuse.
      Unpaid child labor at that age....is child abuse.
      Children up to age 12 should be learning basic work tasks to care for self and to contribute to the family ie picking up after themselves, dusting, setting the table, sweeping or using a small mop to clean up when they track in mud. They should gradually learn to fold their clothes and put them away, put away shoes and jacket, and make their bed.
      It is developmentally inappropriate to use children as part of a corporate labor force.
      The job of early childhood is to learn that much, attend school, do school work....and to play. Rarely a child may have a job such as a paper route, or sweeping sidewalks for neighbors, but parents must be diligent to make sure this is not taken to excess, and does not interfere with a normal amount of sleep, schoolwork and play.

    Thank you for this video, showing the smarmy way children are talked down to - and it's no different than the way the GB guys talk to adults, as you remarked. When i was first studying with JWs, i worked in an office with a nice lady and i began telling her about the study. She said she didn't object to having JWs knock on her door, but was horribly offended when they sent children to her door without an adult. Well at that point i had no idea they even did that, so i asked the couple about it. OH CERTAINLY, they said, we teach our children to serve Jehovah, why would anyone think there was anything wrong with that??! So then i just accepted it without question, having already been love-bombed and flattered within an inch of my life.

    Hi John! Absolutely love the videos, keep spreading the good news! I have a little story for you and any people that read the comments and who might be interested. For personal reasons I won't name anyone . My family was indoctrinated into the Jehovah's witnesses. I was born into the Jehovah's witnesses when I was born. Mother was indoctrinated from a young age because she was going through a hard time in life. That's what they do, target the weak. I was born into the Jehovah's witnesses as we're my two younger brothers. As for my three older siblings, they were brought into at a young age. and was a model child for them and even from a young age it was already clear to them who I would marry, the daughter of an elder who's family I was close to. I was only 9 when I read the Bible from a convention in the Netherlands. It was Infront of around 4000 people. I just followed because I knew if I didn't I was surely going to die in Armageddon. I absolutely loved the Bible and spent alot of time, and I mean a lot, with elders who were grooming me to become some sort of cultist leader I reckon. I even spent time with circuit overseers and people of higher ranking. My family is large however, and my two older brothers who were now in their teens decided to stop following because they finally had the choice to, seeing as my parents wouldn't let them them as a kid. When my oldest brother moved out to live with his girlfriend, I was told by many Jehovah's that he was going down a path of death and destruction. My family was told we shouldn't speak with him or see him. I think this is around the time my mother started to wake up (she never talks of this). My mother is a proud woman and would not be told she couldn't speak with her eldest son. This is where my family started to fracture, and where the Jehovah's pulled me in more and more, same for my two younger bros. (We were pretty oblivious ). My parents decided to move to Ireland. When we were in Ireland my mother explained to us what happened. My two older brothers were sexually assaulted by an elder, but it was all covered up. My mother was so brainwashed that she was convinced to keep it quiet. But the JW's telling her she couldn't talk to her son tipped the bucket. She threatened to speak out and was several bullied and threatened by congregation to the point where she decided she had to leave, and thank god she did. My sister was now the only one left, she was also the only of my siblings who was baptised. She was threatened and bullied for almost two years before she was finally disfellowsipped for coming out as gay. I'm 21 years old now and forever loving and grateful for the strength of my entire family for leaving it, especially my mother who choose to move to escape them. I have since moved back to the Netherlands for work and actually decided to go back to the elder and daughter I was supposed to marry. I went into their house and they were ever so delighted to see me, and of course instantly started enquiring was I still a believer. After preaching all the good news to me, the wife and daughter left and I was left with the elder for an hour or so. I debated him for an hour or so and I can tell he was rattled. Before I departed he gave me the JW website details we said our polite goodbyes. I think I blew him away a little with my arguments, coming from the sweet little boy they used to know. Thanks for reading! I will certainly visit them again in the future, if u would like me to get in some sneaky questions Infront of a elder or even circuit overseer please let me know, because just like they played me, I can play them

    As a Christian kid, I remember feeling uncomfortable with "witnessing" in our own context. I did have a brief period as a teen when I was enthusiastic. Later on in my adult life I deconverted. :-) But my thought is that if there is a divine inspiration to preach the message, then kids who are true believers don't need to be encouraged. And that's definitely the problem. I feel bad for them.

      Remember, the whole idea of door to door preaching is to proselytize. We kept records of who answered the door and who did not. We would go back to the same neighborhoods the next day or next weekend to make follow up attempts to reach someone. We also kept notes on who threatened us or told us to stay off their property, so that we wouldn't visit them again. We would even make note of homes where the tenants spoke different languages, so we could dispatch witnesses that spoke their language to their home. Most importantly, we kept a record of which homes accepted literature. Anybody that accepted literature would get "return visits". We would go back every couple of weeks to drop off the latest editions of the magazines and try to talk them into bible study. When I was a kid, we were still selling the literature and actively tried to sell magazine subscriptions to people. We begged for donations later on. And the JWs tracked everything. On a monthly basis, each publisher (those going in the preaching work) had to report their performance numbers. We reported how many hours we spent preaching, how much literature we were distributing, how many return visits we completed, how many subscriptions we sold, and how many bible studies we had going. I've been away for 10 years now. It's very surreal to explain all of this. We were free labor for a million dollar publishing company. Sigh

    As a parent and former jw who is tackling the hard job of deprogramming herself and her son who was in the ministry nearly every day with me for 8 years, I have to say this is one of the most offensive CS videos yet. It’s going to send parents on a major guilt trip for not having their kids dressed to the nines at 9am, shoes shined and hair slicked back. More fodder for jws to use to criticize their “brothers” who don’t make the cut bc their kids are growing like weeds and it was all they could do to find a pair of pants in their kids room that still made it to the ankles. We got to see Caleb in tight pants, anybody else think that was beyond sick? I can respect the whole rules on decorum when it comes to adults who choose to belong to this cult and want to represent it. But to impose these rules on kids is RIDICULOUS, but you are so right Lloyd - the whole concept of kids preaching and being expected to do this when they themselves don’t fully know what they’re saying is unreasonable; how were we ever okay with that? No eating at the door, now sister righteous will use this video as a “loving reminder” when she’s with the mom and her two-year-old in the stroller snacking on Cheerios at the door. I could go on and on bc I was that mom. This makes me so angry and glad to be done with it. I hope other jws who are seriously beginning to question this way of life watch this and see the exploitation for what it is!

    Children don't have a choice. I was forced to go to service as a kid. I hated not being able to sleep in and watch Saturday morning cartoons. I can see how they have to start conditioning at a young age. They want kids to get baptized at a young age so it's harder for them to leave. I remember people seeing me and feeling sorry for me having to be walking around the neighborhood with my fancy clothes and be in my best behavior instead of playing on a Saturday morning like a normal kid. One lady actually asked me if I wouldn't rather be playing at the park. I was afraid to answer her because I actually did but I couldn't say that. And here's the thing, they have a way of convincing people that it's actually enjoyable and fulfilling. But for whatver reason, I never felt that way. I felt tired and trapped.

    • @KatherineRogers
      @KatherineRogers 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I STRONGLY suggest NOT asking these children if they would rather be playing. Many will be beaten if they give an honest answer at your door.
      You can tell the child...no good god is out there wanting little kids to give up their day of rest and play.
      Tell the adult that biblical Jesus did not get baptized or start ministry until age 30. Any org that asks people to do differently than that....are not following Jesus example.

      That's one of things that a strict religious upbringing does to kids: it makes them utterly unable to tell how they actually feel. I was raised Catholic and I experienced this. It wasn't half as awful as what I hear about JW kids but I once had to define 'paradise' for a TV show featuring kids. I was 10 or so. The network wanted me to say something 'fun' and even suggested what I should say but all I could repeat, was, 'paradise was the garden the Eden from which Man fell after partaking of the fruit of the knowledge of good and evil'.
      I could tell the network people were getting frustrating. 'That's not what kids say', 'Tell us what you *really* think'. 'Isn't paradise like being on summer vacation all the time and eating all the candy you want?'.
      That last suggestion, that paradise was just waffling about, made me so agitated I began to hyperventilate. This interview took place at school, in fact, in the very same room where kids were daily told about hell and how they were headed there.
      No one thought of the repercussions I'd face if I deviated from my script. The nuns would watch the show and what then? I'd be on national TV, spitting on God's creation, and making myself a prime candidate for eternal damnation.
      Also, what kind of sick people go out of their way to interview Catholic children and try to trick them into abjuring their religion on television? I am sure they did not fully understand what they were doing but it was cruel.

    Every time I watch a Caleb & Sophia cartoon, I am constantly dealing with the feeling that I've heard the voice of Caleb's dad somewhere else, but couldn't figure out where. Today, it finally hit me....Caleb's Dad was on Sesame Street! He was, of course, The Count! "Caleb, that door slammed in our face was number 3 in a row, ha, hah, hah; 4 door slams, ha hah hah; 8 door slams, ha hah hah". I wonder how Jehovah feels about Caleb's dad being a vampire? I hope he doesn't have a lingering fascination with Bert and Ernie, cause two guys living together and sharing a bedroom can only mean one thing, especially if they wear tight pants. Just ask Tony Morris - he seems overly interested and knowledgeable about these things!

    Greetings Lloyd. Thanks for bringing this video to our attention. This is another way of the society taking over and control of your children. Parents themselves are reluctant to go door to door and that would be very evident to children who are tuned into these feelings. So, parents can divert to a "higher authority" to coerce their kids to go out. Parents in turn get courage from their children. Insidious.

    I was out with a JW sister at a shopping maul when she said I hate these crowds, I'll be glad when the end comes so I don't have to put up with them anymore. Thats the mindset they have, what happend to "Love your nabouar as yourself."

    The vast majority of kids are traumatized by going door to door, I know I was. On top of the fear that someone from school will open the door there are also people who will yell and swear at the witnesses because they are sick and tired of being bothered. Now if they come to my door I politely ask the child to go down the driveway and proceed to tell the adults just what I think of this practice. It won't change anything but makes me feel better.

    My coworker at my very first workplace said to me that he would open the door for JWs even at 8 am on a weekend but to see children being used for preaching a particular set of belief system is beyond acceptable for him. I was shocked back then as I was PIMI but his comment totally stayed with me.

    Sounds like Tony Morris and Sam Herd are looking for Christmas Day field service partners again! I heard Tony Morris Christmas gift for Caleb is a "well-arranged and modest" T-Shirt with the slogan "Lotta Dead Bodies" on the front and "No Tight Pants" on the back with an arrow pointed downward. Samuel Herd presented Sophia her Christmas Gift with a biology class donated brain showing 90% capacity of his without the air and a T-Shirt with the word "Barefoot" in front and "Pregnant" on the back

    Ah, yes! The weekly horror show of talking to strangers. How I miss that.
    I totally enjoyed and draw strength from the mind-numbing terror. And being pressured into preaching did wonders to my shyness. /sarcasm
    One of my only prayers was "Please don't open the door" and surprisingly often that was indeed answered, lol.

    When I was a kid, I never got to rest. During the week I got up early and went to school, and in the drive there we would read the daily text. On Wednesdays I got out of school early, went straight to piano practice, came home, spent time studying for the Wednesday night meeting, then went. Saturdays I got up early for field service. And Sunday I got up early to study for meetings and went. I didn't get to be a kid

    I have not been a JW, but the reason the organization has run under the radar so long is that the members are so clean cut and polite. I have been shocked by the revelations that have aired recently . I thought they were devout people who wanted to share their faith. This facade has served them well.
