I'm a 16 yr old girl who has always watched Ru Pauls drag race and has seen drag as my dream career but never thought I would be able to do it because I wasn't a man, and then I saw you at the opening Pride Gala this year and my mind was blown! I saw how Gender F**king you were and fell in love instantly! I ran home that night at proclaimed that I shall be a drag king! I just always had a vision of drag kings as super masculine and that never interested me much, I like more of the androgynous stuff, and now that I have found you, I feel like the worlds my oyster!
I've always been interested in drag, but I'm very femme and I wasn't sure I could find a style that works for me and still looks masculine. Then I discovered ouji fashion, which is the male counterpart to lolita fashion. So lots of lace and frills, but with pants instead of a cupcake skirt. And it all came together for me. At the time I'm writing this, the corona virus is still going strong and we're all in quarantine so I can't go out and do it just yet, but as soon as it's over I'm gonna check out the local drag scene and introduce the world to Levi Tation.
Hearing you say that you are trying to be what you needed when you were younger is bringing me to tears. My god, that is profound, and even as a gay man, I totally get it. Thank you.
Bravo! Thank you for this. ❤️ I have been fascinated by Drag Queens my entire life and always wanted to play with gender expression, too. I never thought I could since I am female. When I realized Drag Kings were a thing, I nearly fell out of my chair with excitement. I constantly dream of my future Drag King persona now - hoping some day he will burst through. 😉 I wish the U.S. had the same fabulous, accepting Drag King scene that New Zealand does. Thank you for your perspectives and advice. 👏🏻 Keep shining! ❤️
