dose this plug-in require a specific type of images ? like a png image or an image exported from illustrator ?

Welcome! It can work on raster as well as on vector image format. But, it works best on vector image format.
Good picture resolution will always help! Threshold adjustments will help to get the required curves as shown at 1:42.

for some reason this plugin i am unable to install, after downloading the .rhi file and try opening it, but just a series of rhino windows keep opening and the plugin never gets installed.
