    I love my mother in law too! She's awesome!
    I absolutely love this floor plan. What a great design. Crazy amounts of storage. Beautiful interior!

    I just thought of this, when I saw the "Toddfather". A journeyman mechanic's tool storage!!! I was a journeyman mechanic, before a co-worker thought it would be funny to "play" with the jack while I was under the front end of a semi tractor. Anyway, I know its only rated for 800 lbs, but it can be the mullet storage business (heavier stuff) in front, party (lighter stuff) in the rear aka fishing poles, Coleman grill, hammock...

    LOVE this 'diesel pusher' style storage drawer on the back!! It's NOT good if you have something stored but can't get to it!! This is GREAT place to store bicycles/kayaks/chairs/tables or anything!! WOW!! This elevated rear den is COOL!! The tan decor w/ stone surround is just very 'cabin-like' & is inviting!! Who doesn't ADORE a MASSIVE fridge??!! GLASS door on the oven!! LOVE the sealed burners that are WAY easier to clean!! I'm like a kid in a candy shop with this one!! :)

      Did I mention that I LOVE the whisper quiet A/C? It's gets VERY hot & humid in North Carolina!! Is this Montana generator prepped?

    They need to make a version of the decor for people in their 20's to 40's and not all decor that looks like it would belong in my grandparent's house.

    • @JoshtheRVNerd
      @JoshtheRVNerd  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      People in their 20's and 40's aren't usually purchasing a Montana. Your grandparents are.
      So... there's that.

    • @StriderGTS
      @StriderGTS 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Haylett RV is that potentially because people in their mid 30s like me take one look inside and walk out? How would they know if we would buy one if they don't design for us?
      In not saying this is terrible by the way but there are certainly other rvs that are way more contemporary.

    • @JoshtheRVNerd
      @JoshtheRVNerd  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Definitely not saying you're wrong, but Montana is and has been THE #1 seller either overall in the fifth wheel market or at least in the high-profile class on years when its sister Cougar has been the #1 overall. They know their market best obviously.
      And conversations like this are EXACTLY why we carry more than one brand of fifth wheel here. Sometimes people say "You carry X and Y. You say they're both built basically the same. So why do you carry them both?"
      And the answer is "because sometimes people just don't like the look of one but love the other."
      Being multi-branded like we are at Haylett RV is very nice at times. Montana definitely has a classic classy "feel" about it. Looking for more modern? It doesn't get much more opposite of the spectrum of an Open Range with a Jayco somewhere between.

      I'm in my early 40's and I think this is the most beautiful 5th wheel I've ever seen. Taste is a very individual thing and you certainly can add your own touches, once you own it.

    Why does Montana take the time to hide the AC in the ceiling, but place the floor heater vents in the wrong locations, right where you walk or sit? That's the only thing I don't like.. Is it a deal breaker, probably not. Anyway, great info and video.

    • @JoshtheRVNerd
      @JoshtheRVNerd  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      The logic behind the two is the same. The challenge is heating needs to be placed in the floor for efficiency, and efficiency is the exact answer to your question. Montana (and most of Keystone actually) runs a straight line heat plenum through their floor because it's the most effective and efficiency way to heat the RV.
      When you don't need the heating, then simply slide something over the vents, but when you DO need heating, then you'll appreciate why they're positioned accordingly.

    I have a dumb question. If you have a unit with a residential refrigerator, operating on electrical only, and you don’t have a generator, how can you possibly travel all day and still keep your food cold?

    • @JoshtheRVNerd
      @JoshtheRVNerd  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      *EXCELLENT QUESTION!* Part of the cost of a residential refrigerator in a towable RV is a 1000w inverter that converts 12v power off the battery/tow vehicle charge line to power the fridge's cooling unit. It's not great for cooling off a fridge, but does well enough to keep it down to temp.

  • @erhodes352
    @erhodes352 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    Josh - Correct me if I'm wrong, but there are at least 2 other differences between the Montana and the High Country. The roller shades and quiet cool a/c in the bedroom aren't available in the High Country if I'm not mistaken.

    • @JoshtheRVNerd
      @JoshtheRVNerd  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There's actually a fairly significant list of differences, Eric. Many of them are a little more trivial in nature. You've mentioned a few of the more significant qualities.
      The biggest thing is the "mindset" behind them:
      * High Country: Weight and Price Sensitive Large Fifth Wheel
      * Montana: Neither weight nor Price Sensitive Large Fifth Wheel.

    • @erhodes352
      @erhodes352 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Josh - I think I'm actually wrong about the roller shades. I just watched a couple other videos and they were on a High Country and even a Cougar 5th wheel. That is awesome that Keystone makes them at least available on their "lower" models. I wish Jayco offered them on their Eagles and Open Range on their Roamer 5ers. Do you think either Jayco or Open Range (Highland Ridge) would let you special order roller shades on a 355MBQS or a 374BHS?

      Factory shipping to a local dealer generally runs more per-mile. That's something to keep in mind.
      If you're able/willing to make the drive, then the savings you'll enjoy will SIGNIFICANTLY outweigh the travel costs.

      We’ve been mulling this over for about 8 months now. Might finally be a candidate for financing but the winter weather driving scares me. More to the point, Wyoming scares me lol. Where we are would take us right through there. Might have to wait for spring but I’d LOVE to go to Michigan. Never been and you’re about 4.5 hrs north of my little brother.

      If you get off the highway this is an incredibly beautiful state -- especially around the northern lower peninsula and pretty much anywhere in the upper peninsula. The "UP" as we call it is one of the most forgotten parts of this state.

      As long as it's not significantly thicker than a common screen door as seen here you can likely make it work. Haven't had someone inquire previously.

    13700 lbs. Kind of out a range of a half ton truck. If you try to put this behind a half ton truck, I will personal make the trip from WI to MI and hand you an 'I'm stupid" card and force you to duct tape it to the rear cap, so people who are following you, know!!! You know I won't, but you get my point!!!

    • @rockdrummer4545

      David Aukofer sad thing is there are dealers that will let a 1/2 ton pull off the lot with a rig like this.

    • @davidaukofer
      @davidaukofer 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I know, that's why dealers are more important than the products they sell... and THAT'S SAD... One of my former neighbors used his 1992 chevy s10 (he put a chevy 350 in) to tow his newmar mountain aire and 20 ft ski nautique at the same time!!! I warned him, but did he listen? Then he blamed me for warning him...
