Buy a triaxis as it has the 2c+ already in there with the identical circuit. I have been using a fractal for 3 yrs now but when I got out my old rig with the 2:90 power amp it sounded in a totally different league in every way. There is simply no comparison and the Fractal is for bedroom practice use only from now on. I've played through the 2c+ in a store and it sounds exactly the same as my triaxis and so you can save a bucket load as they go for not too much on ebay comparatively.
I've got a lot to learn.. I want to get something like this and out of all the videos I've watched on these kinds of things (Kemper etc.). I think I really want this Axe FX III. But damn it looks complicated but so much fun like the possibilities are endless. Thanks for the video mate.
I suspect it might be a bug in Axe-Edit III, but I've definitely had it where I type a number in, hit enter, and it just goes back to the previous value instead of taking on the new one.
Weird thing is I couldn't reproduce it lat night after posting this comment. But just the other day I was trying to setup a series of multidelay patches and was typing in a lot of delay times by hand, I swear it was not accepting it like 1/3 times. I also thought I was going crazy. I haven't reported it on the forum yet because I'm not sure how to reproduce..
This is amazing, thank you LT! I was struggling to get that rich saturation and this got me 95% to the tone I was chasing. Know I'm quite late to the party but better late that never! Any recommended tweaks for updated firmware/software? Some of the controls are quite different (No fat switch?).

Hey buddy, serious chops and tones once again! Do you notice better realism than early firmwares? Also was wondering if you could ever consider doing a bit of an instructional video of some of the solo licks similar to the ones in this video. That super exotic stuff mixed in with the minors I think. Really fluid!
Please help. Mine doesn't even come close to sounding like this at the initial settings. I feel like it doesn't have the same input gain / distortion to it. I'm running straight into the Axe FX III and out output 1 into the power amp of line 6 catalyst amp with the switch set to "power amp in". I turned off cab modeling and went back and forth with power amp modeling on and off to no avail. It just sounds way cleaner than what you have going on with "stock" settings at the initial selections of blocks.
Great video! I'm about to pull the trigger on an Axe FX3 or possibly Kemper, leaning towards the Axe FX3. My problem with the AFX3 is that configuration demo's like this are usually carried out on a laptop using the software. Can you configure things the same way using the actually rack unit?
The user interface on the III is way better than the II, i tweak from it all the time. i do these vids in the editor because it's easier than trying to film the screen on the unit.
These videos are great. I'm thinking of getting the Axe. I don't have a FRFR speaker cab, but I do have my Adam Audio monitors. Do you think they'll suffice for bedroom playing? I also have a good pair of over the ear headphones.
When you're playing through XLR into a PA, I could see using the cab models. But if you're running to a power amp then an actual cab, are you running a separate line out without the cab model?
Hey Leon. I’ve been using this (slightly tweaked) as one of my main amps on the Axe3 for a while now. I know we are on FW 8 at present and I’m curious if you had to go back to presets like this one and others to “re-tweak” them given the new parameters the various FW upgrades have offered. I wonder if you’d be at all interested in skype style lessons for Axe FX 3 tutorials. I was on FW 7.01 since August and my rig started acting really weird at practice yesterday. Out of nowhere I started getting ice pick frequency responses from the preset and I never changed a thing through all the FW updates. Bottom end was barely there as well. The preset had always been fine. Then when I got home to investigate it further, I found a bunch of presets were out of whack. I downloaded FW 8 and it seems to have resolved some things, but the preset still seems to be missing something I can’t put my finger on. Sorry for the rant, but any help would be appreciated before I assess whether or not I have to send this out to Fractal for some kind of repair.
I haven't noticed anything drastic with my presets - I've been running the master volume on the mark series amps around 2.5 these days so the power amp modelling changes probably don't have as much impact as if I had the master higher.
Ok. I assume your versions of these are on Axechange? I may download yours and do a side-by-side comparison. I might be picking your brain again before too long. Thanks for your help.
It’d be cool if you had a segment called “Fix My Preset”. Even if they don’t need fixing per se. I’d just be interested in getting your opinion on how I have this set up. Let me know if you’d be interested and the best way to forward it to you. Thanks again for all you do Leon.
Just a quick update. I have my preset to a point where headphones and bedroom playing sounds great. Where I run into an issue is higher volume playing for band practice/gigs. The tone shifts so drastically that I can’t pinpoint how to tweak it to sound closer to the lower volumes. Should I crank the output volume of the AxeFx and adjust the FRFR cab volume as needed, or preset the cab volumes and use the output volume on the AxeFx for my volume swing? I know it won’t be perfect, but as a comparison, I loaded up your “ LT Sykes” preset, and that thing sounds amazing at low and high volumes alike. I am a novice when dialing in these amps. I appreciate you taking the time. As always, thank you.
