There's an "old" song from Fiddler on the Roof titled, "If I Was a Rich Man". In it, the peasant farmer sings about, among other things, how being rich means people don't care if you're right or wrong, they'll listen to you anyway.
Fiddler on the Roof is a 1905 play.

The biggest problem is in his very first statement “Why do you want to sit around and chill out for 3 days?”
That 3 days isn’t for sitting down doing nothing, it’s for living my life. I go to work to earn money so I can have money to go live my life for the rest of the time. As it is with a 5 day work week I have only 2 days to rest and recover, get all my errands done, and go live the rest of my life. Honestly feels like a scam.
People like him think work=life while most of us just go to work to fund our lives.

same with the whole "go back to the office".
At least there, I can see the vested interest in keeping the buildings valuable that they often own or are invested in.
However, there is NO REASON to be against this. And he showed everyone this by having 0 actual arguments. Like, at all. Of course, if it turns out to have negative effects overall on the company, that would make sense, but we have to wait for the actual data to come in to make that assessment.

For programmers, switching from a 5x8 hour workday schedule to a 4x10 hour workday schedule such that you have e.g. wednesday, saturday and sunday off has, for us, increased productivity as instead of wearing people out all week and losing more of the day percentage-wise in meetings, programmers can do two "sprints" per week, get more stuff done, and have more time to collect themselves again.
Time will tell if this works in the long run, but it's worked just fine for a year.

Anyone that observes reality and the rhythms of humans can see this. Is it just coincidence that everyone gets worn out around 1-2 pm? Is it just coincidence that when we ever do finally get 3 days off, we all begin to feel a little alive again? Is it coincidence that universally, even though WAY too many of us are forced into longer and longer and MORE days at work that most efforts after 8-10 hrs a day and after 3-4 days in a row of that kind of push, the productivity cranked out from that is all net negative?
No. This is exactly how the world should be run…in the natural phases of the sun or the moon or whatever the higher energies are that guide us all are. The entire world would be better off in every possible way, except the ones who thrive on misery and death. Why are they the ones we give power and therefore forced to give all of our money to at the end of a metaphorical gun?
My only real hope is that this overdrive that is being supercharged now in such a way that it HAS to quickly end. But that head on crash is gonna hurt the bystanders much worse than it hurts the drivers who cause the crash…as per uszh
We do need work, and we do need to feel productive, but we DON’T need constant pushing and we DO desperately need rest and recovery time, and we are being robbed of that, every day, every week and every year…because we have given up power to exactly the wrong kind of thinkers. Sharks are lone predators and sneaky deceivers-NOT good leaders.

I've had a 4 day, 40 hour work week for almost 13 years now. And I vastly prefer it compared to when I worked 5 days at 8 hours each. Most of us here really like it, mostly because we get 3 days off during the week. It let's me plan doctor appointments easier, I get to go on school field trips with my youngest child that I never got to do with the older ones due to work schedules, and I'm now finally able to really start furthering my education since I have a solid 3 days I can devote to it with the family at school/work. Sure it can get tiring working from 6:45am until 6:00pm, but 3 days off makes it totally worth it in my opinion. It would be nice if other companies did something similar, or at least had the option. This isn't just for salaried workers, which is what I'm assuming this guy is ranting about. I'm hourly and it works just fine.

I took every Friday in November and December off, and already in mid-November it was clear that my productivity on Monday to Thursday was higher. For the first two weeks of December, I did more work than usual in just four days per week.

Fridays I’m too tired to party, Saturday is awesome but Sundays are shot because you still have to go to bed early for work Monday. Currently I'm a FIFO worker on 4/3 roster 12 hour shifts with no back to back i.e. im on site every week, so I exceed the 40 hours per week, but the problem is its exhausting with only a 3 day weekend and the nature of FIFO requires substantial travel time as well.
I'm all for a 4 day work week/40 hour work week in general, but some industries it may simply cannot be done unless they take on radical changes themselves.
I'm thinking with big corporations that have these kind of set ups is to employ more staff for coverage of the 3 days.
I recon that is easy to do, simply reduce the dividends to rich corporate shareholders and spend less reroutes investing in stocks and more on the workers who make the money for the company in the first place.
