    About the Ruination Cinematic:
There was once a king of a big empire, his name was Viego he always acted like a kid, was selfish, always had what he wanted etc. until one day he fell in love with a woman named Isolde, who became his queen. Years go by and in an attempt to murder the king (using some kind of poison), someone accidentaly hit the queen Isolde, sending her to basically a come. Viego then send out every guard he had to find a cure for her love but with no result. Then one day he heard about a place called Blessed Isles, which have waters that can heal people, but at this point the Queen Isolde was already dead. He tried anyways, went to these Isles and finally put the corpse of her love in the waters ( even if the resident and guardians of these waters warned him you cannot bring back the dead) , for a moment her queen got back to life but immedietaly turned into a monster and after seeing what she became she took Viego's sword and stabbed him in the chest. This caused the even called The Ruination, in which everything near these isles died and got revived as monsters, ghosts etc. That's how the Blessed Isles became the Shadow Isles. Viego doesnt remember any of this, he think that his queen is still out there and is looking for her, helped by the Mist, which is, well basically a mist that follows him around, kills everyone etc.
That's basically the story of Viego, the guy you saw with the sword, the other two characters with the guns were Lucian and Senna, and what Viego took from Senna ( that blue thing) was a fragment of the soul of Isolde, that's why later on Senna said "We need to get back to her" . There's another story about how a fragment of Isolde was inside of Senna but that's too much information at once!
Anyways I love your reaction at the LoL cinematics and would love to see more!

The game makes money by selling "skins"
A hero has a vanilla look and then you can buy diferent collors or themes like the offixe one you watched
Having no effect of gameplay keeping the game otherwise free and fair

    • @PerSixPlus
      @PerSixPlus 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

some skins actually change visual cues so on some skins its harder to see these cues whilst on others much easier, but its rare that it actually gives any benefit to either party, so either way the game is very fun with friends. it gets especially fun when you get to the point where you play with people that are as good/bad as you are, not in the place where a lot of people are playing for the competitive aspect and being toxic. its one of my favorite games and has been for a while now, so i suggest people to try it out.

League of Legends has an extremely extensive lore, which can be discovered by reading the backgrounds of 150+ characters, but it means nothing in terms of playing the game. You enter a game, pick your character, and duke it out with other players (or AI bots if you're feeling it). The Ruination storyline is the most recent "main story" of LoL, with shirtless, pale boy Viego coming back to find his queen, Isolde, and in the process bring Ruination to the rest of Runeterra.

  • @Whysoshort
    @Whysoshort 3 ปีที่แล้ว

You are correct. The is no storyline in the game itself. The story plays out some in the trailers, but mostly in shortstories, comics, and now even full books that are being written by the staff.

League of Legends has a lot of trailers as it is the biggest game worldwide.
I think you would very much enjoy the "Legends of Runeterra" Trailers. There are several of them with each exploring one of the regions of this world.
They are all about 3 minutes in length and tell a short story without you needing to understand the world in its entirety.
I cant recall all of the names but there is:
    "The Vaulted Road" for Targon
"None Escape" for the Shadow Isles
    Demacia
    Noxus
    Ionia
    "Call of the Mountain"
    Shurima
    Piltover
    "Dont mess with Yordles"
and the newest one, you'll find it.

I'm thankful you came back to LoL after being turned off from their early works. Remember you watched the videos from the first few years when they were still trying to get people to transition from another dominant game out there (DOTA/DOTA2) but now they are so huge they put a ton of effort into creating the world they have put these characters into. All of their videos are still focused on introducing new champions or selling their skins in the game, but they have learned over the years to create the story which gets people invested in the characters so they want to buy them on a free-to-play platform.
If you start with the cinematic trailers from 2016 on, you will get the overarching story. However, the interactions between characters might be lost on you if you don't know the story behind each of them. There are comics, origin stories, and (soon) an animated TV series which will fill in blanks. Someone more invested in the lore will be able to give you links to storyline, but enjoy watching RIOT's evolution in quality and developing their world. They have expanded that world with spinoff games like Legends of Runeterra (card game) and Wild Rift (the mobile version of the game). You may have to be patient as there is a lot of content out there, but you will find a well-rounded background to the game.

League of Legends' Histories are mostly told in the form of tales and digital books that you can find on the game site, there is a whole page dedicated for telling the game lore where they post comics, tales, histories and books that tells everything about the caracters, the regions of the game universe and their journeys . I recommend it even if you're not used to the game, because they are super cool, and inspired me to write a few tales to. Also, english is not my main language, so i'm sorry if i wrote something wrong :)

For explanation: That last cinematic is about the ruined king Viego(that creepy guy). This guy is in search of his queen Isolde.both died because of an assassination. And in this cinematic you can see how he is seaching for her soul fragments. And Senna(The woman with the cool Outfit) has one of the soul fragments. If you want to know more about them i highly recommend you look up Necrit on TH-cam.He has almost every story of the Champions of League if Legends. And there're not bad at all. For example i highly recommend Camille's story. You can also look up the stories on the official League of Legends website
I think if you take your time and read all those stories youre going to be obsessed with them.

This last year League of legends trailers have totally knocked it out of the park - from incredible story, animation and music. Can't recommend the Legends of runeterra series enough. The "really got me" wild rift trailer does a great job of explaining the game too. Over the years, league has also moved away from "boob-armour" and cheesecake that really plagued fantasy games, to really cool female characters too (sexy without being sexist if you know what I mean). Can't wait for their Arcane animated series to premier on netflicks

  • @Arteksoff

So inside the game, where two champions related to each other meet or kill one another (for example senna and lucian from trailer) they can say different things. Those are called special interactions and there are plenty of them in the game. They allow you to get to know the character you like a little bot better.
As for the lore: most of it exists outside of game. On the game's website or in the form of cinematic trailers.

  • @Kristian818
    @Kristian818 3 ปีที่แล้ว

The trailer has some prior story videos (and will probably be continued this year) as others have told, however, I can also recommend watching the "Tales of Runeterra" cinematics.
Technically, "Tales of Runeterra" was for another game by the developer but it's the same world and characters as League of Legends. Since "Tales of Runeterra" was for a new game then it does a better job of introducing the story than many newer league cinematics. There's a cinematic for most major regions in Runeterra (the world of League of Legends) - adding up to 9 videos around 3 minutes each. They highlight some characters and each region's vibe - it can very well be coupled with a quick glance at the map of Runeterra on the League of Legends Universe website (map.leagueoflegends.com/).

    Senna: Shadow's Embrace
    Ruination 2021 [YOU'VE WATCHED THIS]
    Sentinels of Light: Before dawn
    Sentinels of Light: Absolution
Yes, this is the more about that. It's like overwatch where trailers get you to pick a character but this is not linear. You see the story of League of Legends is Progressing outside of the game and into the lore, this is a lore video. There are a few types of videos they have; lore videos, skin trailer videos, Esports videos, music vidoes. So skin trailer vides are alternate realities within the universe of League of Legends and Esports trailers are to hype you for Esports and Music videos have our characters singing as virtual groups in the "real world", kind of also like alternate realities.

Love this video. I'm all for League of Legends reactions!
While it would take a while, I would be interested in watching you discover the lore of the world and champions before you'd react to the music videos everybody is going to recommend.
For example, learning about Demacia and the Lux/Garen/Sylas storyline before watching the Warriors music video cinematic. That is purely because that way you'd have context before seeing the video similarly to LoL players when the cinematic originally came out. Rather than the cinematic being the first contact to these characters in the same way most reactors and non-LoL players come into contact with the content.
Ps. Just adding to the algorithm and voicing a thought I have while having no expectations for said thought or even the feasibility of it.

Most of Leagues story is told through each characetrs written stories. As a fantasy author you might enjoy them. They vary in length but are generally good. They're also designed so that you don't need alot of knowledge beforehand to understand the stories since most people will just read the story of the champion they like the most. So if you want to check it out you can just scroll through the champions and see who catches your eye then read their story and bio on their official website. Theres even a big interactive map there where you can look at each region and kinda know where places are if the names get confusing.

About gaming on mac and PC: The first thing is all PC games are optimized(they are primarily focused on)for windows because windows are a LOT more common than MACs or LINUXes. And the second thing is that MACs use a different architecture than windows and therefore in order to make a game playable on MAC you would need a lot more resources. Not to mention it is borderline impossible to port demanding games because of hardware limitations

"Mana" is the traditional energy source for magic in the vast majority of video games. It comes from a real life word and concept, the name of which changes with different people around the world, sometimes called prana, or chi, or ki, or mojo, but can best be described as "the force." In video games, you spend points of mana in order to cast spells. Mana is almost always blue.
Because it's such a common trope it makes it so once you've played one game featuring mana, you can jump in easier to all the other games featuring mana.

There is lore that is sometimes mentioned as voice line interactions with other champions and items. Necrit is an amazing youtuber who goes to in depth lore videos about the champions and covers the cinematics as well. Riot Games also produces comics that cover lore as well. A lot of the old lore of the game has changed over the years but you will still always be able to find a way to connect the characters somehow. As a story teller, im sure looking into those would let you go back and really appreciate the videos you have seen with a new light!

What's funny is how positive it all makes the playing of League seem. Then you get into Solo queue and gradually have any positive feelings you might have had for humanity eroded away until you're queueing for games purely from habit, and you assume that your whole team are just monkeys and hope that this is that one time that they figuratively write out Tolstoy.....

There's no story line in the game other than characters (champions) interact with each other through simple lines, taunts and jokes when they meet in game. The stories and cinematics are to shape a champion and give them more personality or highlight them so people play champions who are not so popular.
Although there is no story in League of Legends, the company Riot Games is releasing another game called The Ruined King which is a story based game.
I understand you're not a gamer but i recommend checking out some champion stories in League, they are really cool and they shape the world that the game is based on.
If you ever decide to check them out, Necrit did a video "Ranking every champion based on lore" although the video is one year old, it should still explain a lot and would give you a good starting point.
    Enjoy your day!

To answer your question about it being similar to overwatch, Yes it is exactly as you described where the actual game doesnt have a story within itself but takes characters from a universe based around its characters. i recommend going to universe.leagueoflegends.com as that is where you can find all the champion bios, the map of Runeterra, short stories, comics that expand the characters and the world around them.

Hello there! I am really enjoying seeing your reactions to these. If you want to continue this storyline there’s only a bit there. Firstly there’s a cinematic that came out before that is senna’s teaser trailer. And there are all the trailers for the game “the ruined king” which hasn’t come out but will be a brand new game exclusively about characters fighting against the main bad guy in this cinematic.
Also yes in the game there is generally no story outside of “events” which may tell stories of things that happen in the universe. Otherwise it is rather similar to overwatch with the lore.
If I may give a separate suggestion I would say that watching “Legends of Runtera” cinematic as could be nice. It’s basically a card game but it’s in the same universe as League of Legends. Their cinematic tend to tell a more of a story of what is actually happening in the world.

Hi Hannah! It would be really cool to see you reacting to "Awaken" and "Warriors" cinematics from League of Legends. Riot always highlights the amazing female characters from League of Legends in these cinematics. The cinematics are not about Keanu Revees, but both are breathtaking🤣

It's exactly like Overwatch and TF2 in the sense that the game doesn't have much of a storyline and the trailers, comics, videos, etc all tell a story to get you emotionally invested in the characters and setting.
Riot is releasing other games that seem like they will tell stories with the same characters. Time will tell.
If you want the best video content for League of Legends, watch the Legends of Runeterra videos or the Kin of the Stained Blade. They're pretty much all hits.

Yea, its kinda like overwatch where during the game there isn't a story, but they did put a lot of effort into building the world, where u don't even have to play the game to enjoy the story and world.
They have a bunch of short stories on the characters, comics and other stuff.
They also created a world map that makes it really easy to find all this stuff I mentioned, and how the people live and stuff like that, you should check it out, it's pretty cool :

This was supposed to be, with many other trailers, to be a announcement for a event in the game called Sentinels of Light.
It was supposed to be the first event in which everything that will happen, will be canon to the main story line of the world of League of Legends.
Badfully, with Covid and bad decision from the leaders of Riot (the developpers of League of Legends) it wasn't that great at all.
I recommand you the video of TB Skyen on the subject, he discuss about it, and If I remember well, he also gives a little background for the story

I had not seen that newest trailer. WoW!! the Ruined King is in Game?!?! @ Questions: Tons of overarching story lines. 5+ different universes with vague story telling to each one but very cool stories. Remember Annie with the Bear? Tons of good league stories but very difficult to connect them all. So yes the battle area connects the worlds and you just kind of enjoy the art lore and coolness of each unique champion and thier universe that they bring to the "Rift" aka Battle Arena.

Well, LoL does not have a clear story line in game, it is like Overwatch, but Lol has a clear story universe. There is a book for it and they are most likely working on an RPG/MMORPG game.
Rest is very long, full story basically. A tragic love story.
The story line you liked just started. BUT we know a lot. Lucian's and Senna's story is very old. It was started a long time ago but it got it's continuation recently. In previous cinematics you saw that Lucian helped Senna escape Thresh's (green guy with chains and a lantern) lantern. In the lantern she met with Izolde, she was just a soul (most likely just a fragment) not like Senna who had a body. The blue light in her chest and that orb thing. Izolde, Thresh are very old. The villain here is called Viego.
Viego was the first prince of a long forgotten kingdome. He was a very carefree person and not very fitting to be the next king as he did not really care about anything, he was a dreamer. But he inherited the throne. But when he met with his future wife, Izolde, he fell madly in love. That is what he said "She is my world" when Senna told him that he is destroying everything. She meant everything to him. She was the sole reason to live from that point.
But the power hungry and unsatisfied nobles betrayed him. They wanted to poison him but in the end Izolde got poisoned and died. Viego broke. He sent out his ppl to find a way to save her or revive her. Kalista, (Now an other champion in the game, the Lady of Vengeance who claims justice for those fell and called her) was a soldier. She found a place. Called the Blessed Isles.
An other ambitious and the true villain and cause of all this, Hecarim (and other playable chracter), he was a pretty high ranking and very young soldier, the captain of the Iron Order a chivalry unit, but he wanted more. He wanted to use Viego's grief to gain more power. He pushed Viego to go to the Blessed Isles while undermining Kalista.
But the ppl of the blessed isles said that it was too late for everything. Hecarim pushed Viego even further and the Iron Order massacred everybody BUT Thresh, he was just an insignificant librarian who was not particularly liked by anybody. Thresh was the reason Hecarim killed everybody cause he knew about a well. Viego took Izolde's body to that well. And he attempted to resurrect her. But it was as the Blessed Isle people said, it was no use. So they went even more drastic. They broke the order of the nature. Death itself came to life. The Mist. Souls of the dead got swallowed.
Viego successfully made Izolde come back as a Banshee but Izolde in her scared and crazed state stabbed Viego with his own sword (The triangle in his chest it the wound). Kalista, Thresh, Viego, and Hecarim all got consumed by the Mist.
While Viego forgot many things he only knew one thing. He wanted to be with Izolde. Everyone changed and gone mad, but Thresh thrived. He was twisted even before all this so the Mist only gave him power. He is a sadistic maniac who enjoys torturing ppl.
Now this part is a bit blurry for me but Izolde's souls must have scattered and as Thresh collects souls he might have took it or he did it intentionally.
But the Mist did not stop there. The Blessed Isles became the Shadow Isles. The land of death. It kept expanding. As Izolde was in Thresh's lantern Viego was dormant. He was the source of this scourge but the only thing that motivated him was Izolde so as Thresh had her he must have been kind of asleep. But when Lucian got Senna out with Izolde's soul/soul fragment Viego awakened and with his awakening, the already expanding mist only accelerated and here we are. Viego ruining everything intentionally or not just for the sake of love.

there is a lot of story in league of legends, but you dont learn it through the game. The are stories in the league of legends site that you can just pick up and read. Also the are some comics (with partnership wit marvel) and even a recent novel was added. Plus there is a book you can get that has a lot of information about the world of league (Runeterra).

There is viewership in League of Legends reaction videos, around the same level as Overwatch. Aside from the Senna-related stories like Ruination, there are also the "Tales of Runeterra" video series, which in my opinion, are the best produced and written League of Legends trailers. They're witty, short (~3 minutes each), expressively animated, and each video has a relatively self-contained, thematically complete narrative. Here's a playlist with all 9 of them if you're interested:
    th-cam.com/play/PLbAFXJC0J5Ga3WxSJHOrkX6OYiixVqFMn.html
They're in reverse order, though that doesn't really matter too much. Maybe the "Don't Mess with Yordles" trailer is more enjoyable after "Bilgewater: Double Cross," but aside from those 2, they're self-contained stories that do a good job introducing characters from the game and showing them interacting with each other.
League of Legends also has a Netflix animated series coming out in the future, though so far there's only short teaser videos out.

In league of legends, you do not play out any storylines in the game. If I remember correctly all champions have a storyline outside of the battle but they are summoned to the "battle arena" by summoners (players) to partake in a 5v5 battle and to win a team has to push and destroy several objective points until one team destroys the other's nexus (home base). There's a bunch (fuckton) of other stuff but that's the main thing.
