Growing up, after the kids shows aired on PBS Kids, I clearly remember this intro starting up and I remember it giving me a disappointment like no other 😂. But now 18 years later here I am, I had this intro back in the files of my mind and I took this task upon me to hunt it down and find it once more for nostalgic purposes.
I grew up in Texas watching this on PBS. I guess I was a strange child because I liked those old shows, like "keeping up appearances" (Mrs. Buffet) and "Are you being served" I also loved watching "Bob Ross" and "Antiques Roadshow" strange child indeed lol!
When I was going thru my divorce over 20 years ago, I stayed with my Mom for two months and we would religiously watch her PBS British shows on Saturday nights, and have such an enjoyable bonding time. My Mom took my mind off my divorce. I remember being heart broken during this time and I fell in love with this show. I couldn't imagine ever finding someone to fall in love again with. Fast forward years later, and I found my soulmate. I was 45 and my wife 43 when we met and it was fate that we met. We had literally lived a street over at times and she even worked for the same law firm, but left just before I was hired. And our families had worked for the same Aerospace company and we had been at the same events and summer picnics. We met later in life, just like the show.
Anyone here who actually watched this on BBC 1 and from the UK? Seems to be a load of Americans on here. As a child I had no desire to watch this, but now it reminds me of happier times. I miss those days.
My father watched this all the time on PBS with his tea and everything. I always come home from elementary school and he always has this and Are You Being Served? on lol.
When my father was still alive, my mother used to watch this on PBS [we actually had 3 PBS channels on cable] Friday and Saturday nights. The PBS channel we have now doesn't air it, I miss watching it.
I Remember Watching Both Britcoms "Keeping Up Appearances" & "As Time Goes By" When I Was A Kid It Came On Mississippi Public Broadcasting Every Saturday Evening At 8pm Right After The Lawrence Welk Show At 7pm
I remember my mom watching PBS when I was a young child and me rushing in when this show came on JUST to hear this song, I loved it even as a young child as still do as an adult. Nostalgia at its finest. :)
pbs will keep this and other shows on their network but they won't put back on eastenders, vicar of dibley or coupling. These were other great shows as well and I think that PBS needs to put these back on and start showing them again. There's a bunch of us who enjoys these type of shows like vicar of dibley, coupling and EastEnders

Geoffrey Palmer who played Lionel sadly passed away today. R.I.P. (1927-2020).

My mom (We are American) loves all three, Are you being served, Keeping Up Appearances, and As Time Goes By. She's been rewatching all three lately
