Sometimes I think about relaxing but then I know I will just become natural again and why go through all that 😅 also the cancer-related chemicals remind me every time
I've been natural for 13 years now, it is a process of accepting your hair for what it is, not what you want it to be. I relapsed only once during the first 2 years, learned texturizers & relaxers alike are not worth it. Now I absolutely love my natural hair to the point that I dislike straight hair & never wear it. It has grown very long too which I could never achieve with the relaxers due to breakage. I wish I hadn't wasted so many years hating my real hair during my early youth, I feel robbed actually. If I could go back, I would have never relaxed in the first place. I swear many bw are brainwashed & spend too much time coveting, that's what keeps the cycle going, but God can do miracles when you come to him. Never again 👏
I was a loose natural for ten years. I got micro locs last August because I wanted a low maintenance style. Having locs has been awesome as a busy mom, maybe that’s a style you should consider.
Been natural for about 10 years. I don't foresee myself going back to relaxers but I don't blame those who do. Whatever works for you you do. I see what you're saying about the convenience of relaxers. I just don't miss the burning sensation before washing it out nor do I miss going to the salon.
The texture difference between my new growth and relaxed lengths make getting a relaxer a HARD no for me. If I want a straight look I go with a silk press. Once I discovered I can have any look I want without chemical processing, I was good money lol.
@@Heelly100 I don’t get a press if I know I’m going to sweat or it’s going to rain. I’m good wearing my hair curly for that. I guess it’s an issue for ppl who want to wear their hair straight 100% of the time. I don’t.
I was natural for about 7 years and then I relaxed it in 2021. I kept it in for 2 months and then did a big chop LOL. Fast forward to 2023 my hair is long and beautiful and natural! Idk I just wanted to see what relaxed hair was like again but with longer hair… got bored so fast. I feel my prettiest with my natural hair! But the straight look was cute for 2 months
I was natural for 4 years before relaxing my hair in October 2022. I love my natural hair but shedding tears on wash days because detangling was always knots and matting, and the styles I liked to wear only worked for an hour drive to work, a day or two. It really started to affect how I was feeling about how I looked; one day I might transition back to natural.
I’m happy you stated this because it’s a real thing! And see I was honestly being lazy and lacked confidence with my baby weight. But I’m happy to be going back to show everyone and myself there is a way to properly manage our hair and not make it a choir
I just relaxed my hair after 10 years. Dont regret it. It was too hard to maintain and to be honest I dont see myself going back. No matter what I did...twist out, wash and go, two strand twist...my ends were raggedy when I got a silk press. My edges started thinning, I never had that issue when relaxed hair.
Yeah, I was natural at least 15 years but love my hair relaxed. I get it professionally done by someone I trust and I don't try to stretch for long, unnecessary periods of time. My relaxed hair gurus are: Style Domination, Dolce Dawn, Niara Alexis, I am Tesha Marie and Hairlicious of course to name a few.
I just relaxed my hair last week., after 3yrs. I’m looking forward to easier, quicker styling . The fact that I don’t have to do some much work to my hair before leaving the house. I can now just get up and go. No more hiding behind hats and wigs, because my hair doesn’t look presentable to my standards.
Your relaxed hair looks healthy. I stopped relaxing due to concerns about the toxicity of relaxer chemicals. If not for that, AND if my hair looked better relaxed (it doesn't), I would be on that crack again due to ease of care.
I just relaxed my hair after 13 years of being natural No regrets whatsoever! My hair shedded and I had breakage when I was natural and relaxed. But, for me relaxing pros out weighs the pros for being natural. So much easier to manage again.
Was relaxed for 34 yrs. After covid hit, I went natural. It has been the best decision. My scalp and hair are much healthier even in stress. Probably will never go back.
I big chopped during COVID and I never looked back! My natural hair journey has been wonderful!! Every stage of hair growth, I embraced; trying different techniques, trying products differently (I didn’t buy a lot of new “natural hair” products), sharing what I’ve learned with others, etc. I’ve always been a “hair” person and have treated “her” (my hair) very well. As a result, each and every time she understands the assignment and delivers. Ninety-nine percent of the time I’m rocking a WnG but I will switch the style up from time to time. My hair is simply magical and I cannot get enough.🙂
I absolutely love this for you and I feel the same!!! When she does what you want?? When you've mastered your own hair it's like the greatest feeling! I'm glad you've reached goals! My hairs the longest it's ever been since going natural! Keep going!!❤❤
This is me. I don't understand these people claiming they cry over detangling sessions. A lot of naturals must be neglecting their hair because I am 4b and I never spend time detangling. I also don't bun my hair for two weeks and forget about it.
I’ve been natural for five years 9/20/18, I’ll never go back to creamy crack. The chemicals are horrible. I love embracing and wearing my natural hair. I no longer care what people say or what they think. I just want to embrace what God gave me that grows out my scalp, no dye or nothing. Just trim my ends when needed and that’s it. Your hair is beautiful.
@@autumn_b905 wait, what? 😂 Attention from who exactly?? She understood what I said, and meant. Your irrelevant comment don't matter or mean nothing.. ✌🏽
I think the goal is healthy hair. I went natural 4 years ago because I was having radiation for breast cancer treatment and was having horrible shedding. I gave the relaxers a break and just never went back. Sometimes I miss my hair being straight, but to me curly is easier. I think your hair looks great. It's your hair, your choice.
That end result is beautiful! But I completely understand. I have been natural for 13 years. I can't even consider going back. If I did, I would not be able to keep bleaching my hair, either. Bleach and relaxer: NOPE! lol
I’ve been natural for 3 yrs, was relaxed for 15 yrs. I’m never going back to relaxers, imo natural hair is low maintenance & I’m able to switch my styles up as I please. My scalp isn’t as sensitive & I don’t have to do protein treatments or deep condition often. My hair is currently MBL.
Before leaving relaxers last year, I hadn’t seen my natural hair in over 40 years! I will absolutely not go back to relaxers. When I had relaxers, My hair was constantly breaking off and the new growth was a constant issue to deal with. It was unhealthy for my scalp and my hair. I can not go back to relaxers. My husband really likes my natural hair….especially since I get compliments on my hair everywhere we go (It’s wash-n-go season…’nuf said!). I am thrilled with the plethora of products available for textured hair! Most of all, I am grateful for the many TH-cam “Professors” I have found here at TH-cam University. Thank you for your content!!!! ❤️
I have been natural for over 10 years now. My best advice for transitioning is to be patient with yourself and your hair and don't be too focused on the looks more so than the health. Figure out what oils and butters etc your hair loves. I learnt that my hair loves avacado oil. I am a 4c. The learning process is very rewarding. Learn about moisture retention, products, etc. Research and embrace the good and bad days.
Yes thank you for this! I’m a license cosmetologist and help others with maintaining their natural hair. I know this time around since I’ve big chop 3 times I know exactly what to do!
I went natural a year ago, my hair is dense and very kinky which I love but I'm ready to relax my hair again. The biggest pro for me that's prompting me to relax is the styling part and ease of washing and detangling. Every wash day I struggle to style my natural hair and have it look good especially at mid length. the biggest pro with natural hair is consistent growth and no breakage but still my arms hurt sigh!!
Yes my thing is no matter what you eat, do to your hair, containers you eat out of etc something is going to be bad for you and I say examine your life and do what’s best for you in that moment unapologetically because only you can decide what’s best for you❤
I was natural for about 8 years. I caught covid last year in October, and by December i went through post covid shedding. Like my hair was falling out bad. I’m tender head, and because it was coming out at the root, it tangled really badly at the top of my head and took forever to detangle. I haven’t relaxed but i did a Brazilian treatment and have been wearing my hair straight since February. I use olaplex every other week and have not experienced breakage at all. I wash my hair every 2 weeks and blow dry and flat iron it. Sometimes i miss my natural hair but i hated the 6 hour wash days. In the shower out the shower in the shower out the shower. 30 minutes to an hour detangling (depending on how much gel i put in the week before) all the products and the inconsistency of how my hair would come out each wash day. I may go back to wearing my hair curly at some point but for now I’m enjoying the ease of straight hair
@@SE-gs6gd meat causes cancer, deodorant causes cancer, phones cause cancer, sunlight causes cancer, nail polish causes cancer…..no way any of us are dodging everything that can potentially cause cancer.
@@keina2121 I feel you. I went ahead and relaxed my hair. I'll go back to natural when I get pregnant as I wont be relaxing for 9 months that will be a great excuse to transition. Loved the ease of blow drying and styling my hair after my relaxer. Now the challenge is to avoid breakage.
I wonder why more people don't consider heat training their hair. My hair was 4ab and now it is straight without chemicals. I also don't have reversion in this atlanta heat. I work out 4 days a week indoors and outdoors. 🤷🏾♀️
I was thinking the same. I’m not exactly heat trained; however, I ReVair or blow dry it, 6-8 months of the year. I flat iron, 4-5 times a year. I just like seeing my natural bends and curls. I am 4a, 4b, and 4c.
You going back to natural hair after experienced relaxing your hair for the first time after being natural maybe a good thing, you can now make a more decisive decision because you have experience both. For example I used to always relax my hair but I decided to go natural for many reason it was my first time, after 3 years I thought I learned enough and I will be able to do better if I go back to relax hair, but after one year I saw the pros and cons of the 2, I realized natural hair is better for me and I get to keep more hair in my head. for some reason I experienced to much breakage while on relaxers. Now I have 3 years again since I went back to natural hair and I couldn’t be happier. I do want to try straight natural down the road, maybe in a couple of more years. 😊❤
Your hair is super cute! It actually reminds me a lot of mine when I was relaxed and all the pros and cons you listed were on point, especially the cons. I also have really thick hair but I would shed sooooo much while relaxed. I just remember whenever I would sweep my bathroom and bedroom as a teenager all the literal piles of hair I’d end up with. It was bad. Also remember that feeling of always needing a touch up as soon as you felt your roots. But I did also like the ease of it, the ability to just throw you hair in a ponytail and go without the stress of styling. Wash days were super easy and stress free too. Ngl, I think about going back to a relaxer every few months, but I don’t blame you for wanting to go natural again.
This is similar to me I recently relaxed and cut my hair off after 15 years and relaxed hair is just not for me. My natural hair was cutting off when natural so I needed a big chop anyway. Cannot wait to get back to fully natural.
Your hair is beautiful! Sometimes I think about transitioning back too especially when I see other women with their natural hair out because it’s so beautiful. Whenever I think about how much work it would take for me to achieve and maintain those styles I’m like “nope, not again”
I just relaxed on the 5th of this month (August 2023) and I’m LOVING IT!!!! I don’t foresee me going natural anytime in the near future. I went natural twice. In 2016 and then in 2018. I big chopped in 2016, texturized in 2018, then decided to go back natural that same year. The second time around , I did not big chop. So, from 2018 until Aug 5, 2023 I was natural. My hair is SUPER thick, so I ain’t going back natural
Yeah, it’s a no for me with the creamy crack! I returned natural in 2004 and it was the best decision ever for my hair. Like you said, there are pros and cons with natural hair. However, for me, the pros outweigh the cons any day. 🥰
I’m natural and love it, but I say whatever works for the individual. A Sista has the right to rock her crown as she wishes. Good luck on your new journey of going back natural. I’m here for it!💜❤️
This is exactly how I feeeeel! I was soooo emotionally exhausted by my natural and wish I would have just took the time to detangle and two strand twist mine too. I miss it so much 😢 this new growth is something else!
The shedding is normal . The only difference is it’s easier for the hair to fall out because it’s not coils and curls trapping the shed hair . You can literally see your “100 strands a day” shed. On the other hand us naturals see our shed hair mostly during the detangle sessions , when we manually go in to remove shed hair . SN: if it’s abnormal shedding you are definitely do for a protein treatment. Which you should be doing every 6-8 weeks anyway.
I so understand it's been about 2 yrs for me after being natural for about 15yrs. But I'm going back natural and letting Mt hair grow out. Yeah I cut all mine off. So I really had it easy but I kinda miss the natural for now lol
I was natural for six years. I got a relaxer in September of 2021. I am currently transitioning back. The relaxer was great; I loved my cut, but I had post covid hair loss. My hair was thin and limp, and retouching seemed to exacerbate the issue. I did a mini chop in May. I will cut off the remaining relaxer in December. I miss my relaxed hair, but I would rather have full natural hair than thin relaxed hair.
I cod be wrong but just so you know when your hair is straight shed hair can fall out easier. You are shedding relaxed hair but little pieces fall out daily when u brush/comb it. With natural hair the shed hairs get caught up in your curls and don't fall out as easily. So when u finally take a comb to it all the built up shedding caught in the hair seems like a lot.
Your hair looks great - but we’re excited to welcome you back to the “natural hair community”! I’ve been natural for 7 years, about to start year 8 (I use my son as a guide: started natural when he was in 3d grade; now, he’s about to start junior year of high school). Your list of “cons” regarding relaxer were a good reminder for me of why I went natural: I remember the tiny hairs in the bathroom sink (breakage) & the shedding . My hair is beyond bra-strap-length now, and I’m proud of that. But holy cow - It does indeed take a lot of time to keep up, especially now that it’s long. I don’t wear wigs or “braids” (styles w added hair), so I’m always in a twist-out/braid out; or I oftentimes keep my hair in mini twists for a couple weeks (mini = 24 twists total) and style it that way, then wear it down for 1 week in the loose twist-out state. It takes me *forever* to do those 24 twists after washing, since my hair is past the boobs now - so welcome back to that ordeal, lol😂. But all-in-all, I love my natural hair, and I think you’re making a good decision (I’m a good deal older than you, probably, and you’re right: most hair gets thinner as we age, and the “creamy crack” is not your friend in that regard.) Your hair is so thick (I’m envious!), and it’s beautiful: You’re gonna do fantastic transitioning back to natural!
Thank you so much for the detailed information on your hair routine. I’ve realize your routine is really key to helping a lot of us melanin women hair grow! 😊
I had been natural for 14 years. Got tired of my hair. I got a Wash & Wear relaxer. My hair broke off. Back to natural with a big chop in 2015. I haven’t used a flat iron since. My hair is now longer and more healthy than it ever has been, even though I’ve cut it a few times. I’ve learned a lot in 8 years, tried a lot of products. I finally know what works well in my hair. I’m petrified of a flat iron, furthermore the creamy crack.
I cut all my hair off while I was pregnant. I’m still natural. Looking back I also feel it was an emotional decision. I was just so over hair that day I remember.
Same. I was natural for over a decade. Put a perm in May 2022 so I could wear a short straight style but started growing my perm out 6 months later…didn’t like that my scalp was flaky, hair was shedding, and the connection to increased cervical cancer risk.👎🏾
First off, your hair is beautiful! I'm glad that you talked about the emotional decision you made to relax your hair versus just thinking things through and staying natural in the moment. I wish more people would talk about that. Also, i hope that you just let your hair grow out from the roots and don't cut it or big chop Because,I guarantee it'll grow back so much faster---> If you just Let your roots grow out and keep your straight ends healthy. Great video! Please keep them coming!
Awwe thank you for this!! I’ll be talking so much more about the emotional decision because that’s what it truly comes down to with us when it comes to our curl hair
One thing about natural hair is you can train it to stay straight during the winter months. It can be silk wrapped without getting a relaxer. I’ve been natural for 11 years. Never once thought about relaxing again. My hair grew waist length when I went natural. It broke off a lot when I was relaxing.
No more relaxer, blow drying and flat ironing for me. I love my natural hair but hey we all love a change sometimes but mine won’t be my hair unless I get a super short cut. I also had dry scalp and shedding when I was relaxed. You’re waiting a long time between touch ups.
Yes because I really did it for the convince at the time and eventually I knew I was going back natural! I also once hear train and was still missing the curls so I’m ready to start back
Same. But I was natural for almost 12 years and I relaxed once. Worse decision I ever made. Now I have to start all over again. I’m transitioning and currently 7 months post relaxer. Trimming my waist length hair bit by bit till I get my natural hair back.
This is pretty common, or at least from what I’ve seen. I know a ton of women who went natural and were natural for a while, then relaxed their hair, then regret it and go back natural!
I got a relaxer after 6 years and did a big chop after 2 years 6/7 month post retouch. Tried to transition but it was hard for me so decided to do a big chop. Good luck on your journey
I have microlocs and I just get up spray and go. My only con is it takes me 3-4days to finish my reties but the counter pro is that I only have to retie every 2-3mos.
I agree that natural is better but breakage is not normal with having a relaxer. When I was relaxed my hair wasn't breaking off unless I wasn't taking care of it.
I don't know what went wrong, but I tried being natural for 4 years and my hair was brittle and kept on braking, my hair used to be longer and fuller when relaxed. Going natural has set my hair growth back
Same here, I’ve been natural for almost 6 years but the setbacks have been crazy versus when I was relaxed. My hair was super strong and thick with the relaxer. I was able to retain length so much better.
Nope did not forget to mention this because we were not focus on internal intake but this is a great idea and I most definitely can do a video about this!
ive been natural since the 90s and will never put any chemical in my hair... our hair is not meant to be straight everyday, our hair texture is curly, i love it. my hair is much healthier and longer :)
This Vegas heat made me want to go back to the creamy crack side! I’ve been perm free about 10 years, I was debating going to a stylist to get it done or just get some Design Essentials perm and do it myself, then I thought well maybe I’ll do keratin treatments instead…. I think imma just stick to natural, I wash once a week and I rollerset and every now and then I’ll flat iron but I feel like your cons are enough for me to get over my desire for a perm. Thanks for your honesty. I kinda felt like the whole fear mongering over perms was to keep the product companies of natural products in business- but I keep it simple with good shampoo, conditioner, leave in and serum-dassit- so imma stick beside them simple products and keep it moving! 🎉🎉🎉
Yes I love this for you! I know it can be some many factors that plays into our hair and cutting out the outside noise and sticking to the bases of what work for our hair will keep our hair care journey in alignment
I don’t think the lawsuits are fear mongering tbh. But it’s down to the individual to make an informed decision based on research. Most of us have experienced both relaxed and natural. Black hair products is a billion dollar industry so not just making bucks from naturals they making hella money from the ones on the creamy crack that has to keep going back for touch ups.
@@crapbag426 Guarenteed less money is being made in the relaxed spectrum. The fact you have natural hair products specifically for 3b, 3c, 4a, 4b and 4c alone confirms that it's more money in it, not to mention the cowashes, oils & butters.... I can go and on with other products...but your entitled to your opinion. I don't trust it, even their current claims says "more research is needed' and it 'may' cause issues... aka: fear mongering.....
Sisterlocs will give you healthy hair, hair movement and minimal self maintenance. I do almost nothing to my hair daily. Shake, shake, fingers through to get the last tangles out, I don’t wrap it, I wash it once every 2 weeks, braid and sit under a dryer for crinkles, rarely use rose water. Think about it.
I’m LITERALLY about to go back natural. I had locs for 1 1/2 years and then combed them out 🤦🏽♀️ then later down the line relaxed it and did it once more. I’m growing my natural hair back out so I can loc it again! I can not wait cause I dislike this fragile hair!
I've never been relaxed, only because it always seemed so permanent to me. But the pros you mentioned DO sound good. For me, I wear my hair silk pressed primarily, but put it in braids for a few months when I'm feeling like I need a break.
I totally agree. I made a big mistake by relaxing my natural hair. I've been relaxed now for a year and my hair has gotten so thin and breaking. I may consider going back natural.
I feel the same way. I relaxed after being natural for 10 years. I had always had relaxed hair as a child and decided to go natural in college after my friend dared me to. I relaxed my hair a month before my wedding; now 5 months later I realize that I want to go back natural. There are pros and cons to both, but like you said , “I could have just retwisted my hair” 😩😂. Luckily I have a short bob so transitioning shouldn’t take that long. I know when I tell my husband he’s going to roll his eyes because he’s going to be like “so what was the reason?”. I’ve been wanting to get back on my fitness journey and I sweat heavily and the thought of my hair has been deterring me from wanting to do so.
I was relaxed 10 years of my life and natural for 16. Only reason I ever got a relaxer is because my mother put it in my hair when I was younger. I hated how my hair looked and it would always eventually thin.
I love being natural it make your hair feel more healthy but being relax you can manage your hair better… but like all ways say just keep your hair in protective hairstyles
Yuck I remember working out back when I was relaxed and u can smell the relaxer when your head starts to sweat… smelling like sulfur /eggs … I do not miss that at all
Tbh, I started taking care of my hair (as in washing it, moisturizing it, actually being physical with it) when I went natural. When I was relaxed I never washed it. When I did I had no idea what I was doing. No one taught me how to take care of my hair outside of the salon. So if I ever relaxed again I still wouldn’t know what to do. That would be the start of a whole new journey in general. But I enjoy being natural. I’ll probably never relax again. It’s easier for me being natural in the sense that I don’t feel as much pressure to style my hair. I can do a pony puff and go, or a wash and go. I have the freedom to wash and leave my hair alone for a week to do its own thing. I feel like when I was relaxed I couldn’t do that. I always had to have a style or something.
Your hair is healthy and gorgeous! 🤩 I will never go back to perms. It is not for me. I have been natural since 2008 and I love My natural hair.I locked up in 2018 and I will never go back to loose natural. Locs are my jam. It’s the get up and go for me. Yes ma’am ppd is no joke at all. Heat damage is never fun one of my growing back natural phases I hear trained to grow it out and it really did work but again the hair is still not at its healthiest. If you like I can make a more in depth video talking about heat damage
I can't with natural hair. Our hair is too time consuming. I dont want to schedule stuff around my hair. I went natural last year and I'm about to put a relaxer on it this week end.
Is this a societal pressure thing? Because I'm trying to look for a job right now and I can't relax my hair like I developed a fibroid. Are people pressuring this rn?
I am currently natural. Can’t remember how long. When I was natural I had a hard time retaining length. My hair broke off so much. My natural hair it hard too but I retain more length than I did before. I find styling easier but it is because my hair is thin. I mostly do wash and go’s when I am not lazy.

Yes ma’am I truly understand!
And the chemical factor is one of the main factors why I’m going back to the roots
I do want the ease of hair care and less products!!
Same! My hair looked very bad with relaxer in it.
I just relaxed my hair after 13 years of being natural No regrets whatsoever! My hair shedded and I had breakage when I was natural and relaxed. But, for me relaxing pros out weighs the pros for being natural. So much easier to manage again.
Right o think we go through the back and forth process to appreciate are natural hair
Was relaxed for 34 yrs. After covid hit, I went natural. It has been the best decision. My scalp and hair are much healthier even in stress. Probably will never go back.
Yes I completely agree with you! I love this for you keep going!
Aww, you're looking for attention. You're desperate 😂
@@autumn_b905 Well Bitch, it must have worked because you sure responded. *Now laugh emoji at that*
I absolutely love this for you and I feel the same!!!
Natural is the best I ever felt about my hair and myself. But tonight I am wearing knotless braids for the first time and I am loving them!
Yes I feel this! Thank you!
Aww, you're looking for attention. You're desperate 😂
@@autumn_b905 wait, what? 😂 Attention from who exactly?? She understood what I said, and meant. Your irrelevant comment don't matter or mean nothing.. ✌🏽
@@NaishaStyles1 you’re welcome.
@@autumn_b905I think you're the one looking for attention
I think the goal is healthy hair. I went natural 4 years ago because I was having radiation for breast cancer treatment and was having horrible shedding. I gave the relaxers a break and just never went back. Sometimes I miss my hair being straight, but to me curly is easier. I think your hair looks great. It's your hair, your choice.
Awe bless you! I’m happy to hear your still prospering through the chemo and yes your right we have to do what’s best for us
That end result is beautiful!
Yes I love this for you ❤
Before leaving relaxers last year, I hadn’t seen my natural hair in over 40 years! ❤️
Yes agreed and love this thank you for your support!
Not a trolling question, genuinely curious: any concerns about cancer from applying relaxer?
Been back natural for 12 years now. Not going back. Your hair is really beautiful 👍
Yes I love this and thank you 😊
I went natural a year ago, my hair is dense and very kinky which I love but I'm ready to relax my hair again.
And you know there’s cancer…just saying
Well, your relaxed hair is absolutely beautiful. I'm pretty sure your natural hair will be just as beautiful if not more! 😍
Awe thanks a lot love I will be patient on this journey
Yes ma’am this makes perfect since
Your hair is super cute!
Thank you for this! With our hair being alike I hope that you learn some new tricks and all as I walk you all through me going back natural
This is similar to me I recently relaxed and cut my hair off after 15 years and relaxed hair is just not for me. My natural hair was cutting off when natural so I needed a big chop anyway. Cannot wait to get back to fully natural.
Yes girl I love that! So we in this together!!
Your hair is beautiful! Sometimes I think about transitioning back too especially when I see other women with their natural hair out because it’s so beautiful. Whenever I think about how much work it would take for me to achieve and maintain those styles I’m like “nope, not again”
Thank you! Trust me I feel it at this point you have to do what’s best for you ❤
I just relaxed on the 5th of this month (August 2023) and I’m LOVING IT!!!!
Me too. I think people are just obsessed with looking laid.
I’m natural and love it, but I say whatever works for the individual. A Sista has the right to rock her crown as she wishes. Good luck on your new journey of going back natural. I’m here for it!💜❤️
Awwe thank you so much for your support
This is exactly how I feeeeel! I was soooo emotionally exhausted by my natural and wish I would have just took the time to detangle and two strand twist mine too. I miss it so much 😢 this new growth is something else!
Yes I’m happy to hear I’m not alone! Girl your right lol new growth is easier to deal with when everything is wet lol
Lol right I never transition m.. so this time I’m gone transition and see how it grows
If I could relax my hair I would but I have thin hair that easily breaks so I keep it natural.
Edit: and I love love your hair. So thick and luscious.
Awe your so strong and I believe you made the decision. I love this for you and I’ll be on this transition journey with you
I’ve never shedded with a relaxer.
I’m natural now, and I see so much hair in my comb when combing /brushing.
It’s likely breaking off or you may have hair loss for some internal reason if it’s excessive
@@Ashley-bm9gc I agree.
Thanks!
Your hair is beautiful relaxed. It's still thick. I love it.
😊
You need a therapist, ma. Asap 😂
Love this for you! Going back go the relaxer was a eye opening moment
It has nothing to do with relaxer. You don't know how to take care of your hair - period!
I cut all my hair off while I was pregnant. I’m still natural. Looking back I also feel it was an emotional decision. I was just so over hair that day I remember.
Yes I remember those days! Thankfully it’s just hair and it will grow back fortunately!
Perms are so super easy.🦋. Haven’t had one in ages. But they are the easiest for me to manage.
When I was relaxer I grew my hair out
I did a lot of protein treatment for my hair for strength I never cut hair
Yes this does work!
If your hair looks this beautiful relaxed,I can just imagine how beautiful it is in its natural state.Lovely😍
You know and it really was nice when I was full natural! I just made a emotional decision
@@NaishaStyles1 I made an emotional decision a few times while being natural, texlaxing, heat damage ect. Its quite the journey but its worth it.
Looks beautiful, full and healthy ❤
Thank you! Besides me adding chemical to my hair one thing for sure is that I know how to keep up with the health of my hair!
One thing about natural hair is you can train it to stay straight during the winter months. It can be silk wrapped without getting a relaxer. I’ve been natural for 11 years. Never once thought about relaxing again. My hair grew waist length when I went natural. It broke off a lot when I was relaxing.
I was a loose natural for 2 years and now have been rocking locs for 2 years now. I will never go back. I welcome you back ❤
No more relaxer, blow drying and flat ironing for me.
I also once hear train and was still missing the curls so I’m ready to start back
If you want to get up and go think about locs. You could even keep your relaxed ends and loc if you have enough new growth.
Yes I did loc twice before
Yes it was hard for me my first two times so I cut it off. This time around I’m going to try something different
I have microlocs and I just get up spray and go. My only con is it takes me 3-4days to finish my reties but the counter pro is that I only have to retie every 2-3mos.
Love this for you I thought about micro loc as well
I agree that natural is better but breakage is not normal with having a relaxer. When I was relaxed my hair wasn't breaking off unless I wasn't taking care of it.
Your hair is so pretty! And I already know it’ll be pretty natural as well!💖💖💖
Thank you so much girl I can’t wait to see it in its whole again
I don't know what went wrong, but I tried being natural for 4 years and my hair was brittle and kept on braking, my hair used to be longer and fuller when relaxed. Going natural has set my hair growth back
Same here, I’ve been natural for almost 6 years but the setbacks have been crazy versus when I was relaxed. My hair was super strong and thick with the relaxer. I was able to retain length so much better.
I’m also 5 months post relaxer. I’m transitioning to natural so I’ll follow your journey to keep me going 💇🏾♀️
I have been natural since 2012. I love being natural. I haven't once considered ever going back to a relaxer.
Forgot to mention diet also plus a very important role in keeping hair on your head
Nope did not forget to mention this because we were not focus on internal intake but this is a great idea and I most definitely can do a video about this!
Beautiful Hair!
Thank you I appreciate this
I have been natural for about 3-4 years and no I have not thought about putting a relaxer in my hair I have a afro ❤
ive been natural since the 90s and will never put any chemical in my hair... our hair is not meant to be straight everyday, our hair texture is curly, i love it. my hair is much healthier and longer :)
@@NaishaStyles1 Facts! Thanks Naisha!!💃🏾🔥❤️
I’ve been natural 21 years and I’m never going back.
I’m relaxed but I’m on my back to natural
I'm going to attempt being a blow dried natural before texlaxing. I like texture in my hair.
Yes do that! Thankful my hair thick enough I still have a whole bunch of texture
Your hair is beautiful it looks healthy
Your hair is healthy, thick and beautiful I'm not a hater you go girl
I've never been relaxed, only because it always seemed so permanent to me. But the pros you mentioned DO sound good. For me, I wear my hair silk pressed primarily, but put it in braids for a few months when I'm feeling like I need a break.
I wish the hell I *would* go back to the crack after being clean for over 15 years! No relapses over here!
Ur hair is so pretty and healthy
Thank you for your kind words
Your hair looks gorgeous!
I HATED that relaxer shedding it was the worst
I was relaxed 10 years of my life and natural for 16. Only reason I ever got a relaxer is because my mother put it in my hair when I was younger. I hated how my hair looked and it would always eventually thin.
Beautiful & better 👏🏾
I love being natural it make your hair feel more healthy but being relax you can manage your hair better… but like all ways say just keep your hair in protective hairstyles
I am sticking to my natural hair
@@JoyAbraham-f5n Yes this is best I’m almost a year natural 4x around lol
If my relaxed hair looked like hers I would go back to natural hair ❤
Yuck I remember working out back when I was relaxed and u can smell the relaxer when your head starts to sweat… smelling like sulfur /eggs … I do not miss that at all
Whoa I remember you from Fb back in the day! 😮 What a random video suggestion lol that’s crazy! 🤗
My last relaxer was 2001. My hair cannot handle a relaxer. I don't miss it. And I haven't flatironed since September 2020.
Your hair is beautiful! But you should use a wet brush to detangle after washing
Your hair is healthy and gorgeous! 🤩
I will never go back to perms. It is not for me. I have been natural since 2008 and I love
My natural hair.I locked up in 2018 and I will never go back to loose natural.
Locs are my jam. It’s the get up and go for me. Whatever you do, just make sure you are doing
It for you! Stay true to yourself mama!💞👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾🥰
Thank you for this! I had locs in my hair as well, only made relaxed
I’ve been natural for 6 years I’m about to do another big chop because of postpartum shedding
Beautiful healthy hair
I was going through PPD last year and took it out on my hair as well. I have severe heat damage, and I'm in the process of growing it as well.glad to see I'm not alone ❤❤
All that thick pretty hair
Lol thanks girl! It’s a lot
