    Why is it so hard/impossible to find decent Hebrew frequency word lists online? Why learn words like "seat belt" as a "starter"? That doesn't make sense, does it?

    • @egrafix2006
      @egrafix2006 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      For those living in Israel and learning Hebrew certain words, such as seatbelt, are very useful.

    It's a kind of weird to see that words such as 'walrus' and 'ladle' have found a place in such a selection. :D But I like weird. :) Thanks for the effort!

    They are definitely not in alphabetical order -- neither in English, nor in Hebrew.

    I found many of the words in this video quite unimportant, to say the least. Plus the pronunciation with some was very unclear because the used computer voice was bugging. That's why I stopped the video after 7 minutes. Otherwise this would have been a great way of learning vocabulary while cooking getting ready or such.

    I really appreciate these, but I would like to make a suggestion. When something is a verb instead of a noun, could you say “to” in front of it? For example, one word in this video is “spit,” but I don’t know if you mean “the act of spitting” or “saliva.”
    תודה!

    Why does it say that "poor" means "ani"? I tought "ani" means "I" and it also says that "or" means "skin" but I thought "or" means "light". I'm confused... 🤔

    • @miladon2977
      @miladon2977 4 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      the words poor and i , skin and light are pronounced the same, but you understand what word someone used in spoken languange based on the context. for example, you can say "Ani ani" which means "I'm poor". also אני- I, עני-poor
      they are written differently.

      @28:02 - agenda - seder yom, I can understand better what a seder is by this word and build onto it with yom - organize, order, arrange . yom is day, correct? and adding Kippur is to cleanse or to cover; covering, I've known the Day of Atonement is Yom Kippur, this is just helping me understand the connections in words. Hebrew is fascinating ...but English has been my first language for forty years.

      @38:04 - fly - z'vuv, is that the insect or is it the action of flight? the sound of the word is the noise a housefly makes as it passes your ear. z'vuv, right?

      Some context should be given to translations. Otherwise room for misinterpretation. Some translation are literal and do include the vernacular and widely used. Some words spoken very fast and impossible to make out. Use proper pronunciation and not Ashkenazi way. Makes it harder for new learner. Idea good but lots of room for improvement.

    How can one call himself a Beginner when he knows 2000 words?

    • @БеатрисаПарфенова
      @БеатрисаПарфенова 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Beginer knows about 500-800 words. 2000 words is level B1.
      But if you study Hebrew, then there is a slightly different distribution by levels, that is, Aleph, Beth, Gimel, Dalet. Dalet is the level of a student who graduated from high school. In this case, 2,000 words is the Beth level.
