It still baffles me that everytime I watch a Coraline trivia video, there will always be at least one trivia that I’ve never heard of before. Just shows how much a treasure trove of secrets Coraline is
There is the easter egg about the Coraline doll. When Coraline falls asleep in the other world, and her other parents are there, the Beldam is sitting in the chair. When it fades to the morning back in the real world, the doll is sitting in the chair, same as the Beldam. It's a hint that what the doll sees, the Beldam sees, they're connected.
I think when the Beldam does that Tapping Fingers things, shows how impatient she is about Coraline's response to the point where she might snap at her.
My favorite theory about Coraline is that she never left the other world, that the Pink Palace is kind of a place of limbo between worlds. I don’t know if I believe it, but it’s certainly fascinating
Another hidden detail that has been pointed out was when the Beldam was cracking an egg into the bowl, if you look closely at the yolk, it resembles Jack Skellington from "The Nightmare Before Christmas," which is another movie directed by Henry Sellick.
My favorite lil easter egg is that in the real world, the most vibrant colors are on the PEOPLE, but when it comes to the other world, all the color is in the world itself instead. The people in the other world are covered in gray.
I love that scene because they argue about whether the stone is used to see bad things or lost things. It's actually both because the stone shows the other world as being grey and bad, while also helping Coraline find the lost eyes of the ghost children.
9:02 More interesting than the pattern is the color. That color is probably Scheele's Green or Emerald Green, meaning it contains the deadly cyanide and touching it will harm you. It was used in Victorian times and later into wallpapers, book covers, etc.
Well this is quite the coincidence, I was in the middle of watching a Coraline movie reaction video, Then out of nowhere comes a MsMojo video about Coraline. What a day. lol
Another hidden gem what I found while I watching this movie with my ex girlfriend is the gravy train....It's a lyrical reference to Pink Floyd - Have a Cigar ("And did we tell you the name of the game, boy? We call it riding the gravy train").
Also, in the real world, Coraline places a packet of bleeding heart seeds in the windowsill. Bleeding hearts symbolize unconditional love and heart break. In the other world, we see them growing in the garden
the mortuary tools that the beldam has in the opening scene and the cuckoo in the wallpaper are some of my favorite little references the cuckoo lays its eggs in another birds nest so that the chick will be raised by that bird and taken care of as if it were their own, eventually killing its “siblings” and “parents” i just like the symbolism
The Toadstools surrounding the Well is also a nod to Magic Portals. As in some Folklore Mushrooms especially Toadstools growing in a Circle like that are considered Magical Barriers to keep a Portal in one place
Ms. Spink and Forcible are both right when they argue. With the tea leaves, Spink said there's danger, but Forcible said there's a tall handsome beast. The beldam is tall and somewhat handsome in her real form. With the stone, it's good for bad things and lost things. It was given to Coraline during a bad time when her parents go missing, and it helped find the ghost eyes. I didn't notice some of the other details like the pantone color and the pin cushions. That's awesome.
I remember hearing a theory about the clothes in the tunnel, someone said that the kids got as far as Coraline and nearly escaped and that the clothes, shoes etc is how far the kids made it before the bedlam got them
I'm not quite sure if it's been stated yet, but in the scene where Coraline first eats at the dinner table in the otherworld, the mashed potatoes and gravy on her plate resemble a skull at some point. Also, there is a moment when the Beldam mispronounces Coraline's name after she {Coraline} refuses to sew buttons in her eyes. The Beldam tries to "calm" Coraline by stating that it is her "decision" but she says her name as /Carol/-/leen/. I wonder if that is indicative of the Beldam's facade glitching, or her web unwinding because Coraline starts to see through the "spell" of sorts...?
7:22 they already mentioned why he's blue and it has nothing to do with the cleanup. (he had him blue because he tends to be out in the cold most times) 16:21 The blue shelves also resemble the boxes
I’ve seen it before but now I think I might need to watch it again. See if I can find all of these little bits. I’m definitely interested in watching it again.
No surprise that the Beldam is as ruthless towards her puppets as she is tricky and halfheartedly cruel to her prey. The Puppets don't actually "Eat" or starve and that is not the actual cruel part of it being placed on the other father, the part that is actually cruel to him is the fact that he is "Made" to think he is a real person, and so he is programmed to believe that he is wasting away for years apart at a time, in which he only have an idea what starving is like, and because he's been serving the Beldam for so long, that he does think he's real and starving man, on top of the fact that he is more of a dummy than the Beldam's other puppets, since he is the opposite of the more intellectually savvy Mr. Jones. That red-haired woman is not the Beldam, she is just some rando character talking on her phone, and the Beldam never uses a phone.
I have a theory that the doll faces we see in the Beldam's pincushion are Misses Spink and Forcible...and the other face we see is Bobinsky. I think everyone who lives in the Pink Palace, except for Coraline, is actually dead. Consider the use of color in the real world....everything is very dreary and washed out, including Coraline's parents. The house appears shabby and abandoned, with rotting food and no pictures. Coraline's parents seem very lackluster. The only bright pop of color and life in the real world is Coraline, herself. She is the thing that doesn't fit in that world. Then, she goes into the Other World, and everything is bright and colorful and a perfect reflection of Coraline's idyllic life (with good food, bright clothes and a perfect, loving family) and she is the one who stands out because she refuses to put buttons over her eyes.
One I haven't seen anybody point out is after Coraline escapes and frees her parents, her orange pajamas are patched up using the sweater the other mother made her
Fun fact: The original book had a lot more Gory description Rats are actually torn apart and Blood is mentioned in the book Also, the Fog is a Monster too.
I think the song you’re referring to is “Exploration.” “Dreaming” is the opening credits song while “Exploration” is the song playing while Coraline is, well, exploring!
The little Blue boy with ice cream is wearing a sailor suit. And there's a little toy boat in the tunnel. Also, have you noticed that the well is quite far from the house? Wells were usually close to the house. And near the driveway, you can see a rock wall that looks like a remnant of a castle. Maybe a remnant of a time when fairies existed. One of the ghost children is a fairy. Ms Lovats sisters hair sticks up in the same way the ghost boys hair does. It's just pinned down on one side. There's a rat watching her from an empty apple basket on a table at the beginning of the film. The children say she stole their eyes, but they aren't eyes. They are just toys. Which they don't know because they've lost their eyes. One of the toys looks like the Pixar star ball. The cat tells Coraline she is meat. And the Belle Dame is always trying to fatten her up. Coraline never goes back in the tunnel. She just falls asleep in the other world. After the Belle Dame tricked her into eating, she trapped her like Persephone was trapped in the under world. The Ghost children pull a sheet up over their bodies like they do when a person dies. Wybies head cranked to the side so far makes me think he's been in an accident. He always looks guilty. I don't think the Belle Dame would paint a place pink ans call it the Pink Palace. I think that's the work of Spink and Forcible. Spink is an Old English word for a particular birds cry. As annoying as Coraline is, she may well have caused the car accident by distracting her mom. A deleted scene shows a spider crawling into Coralines moms cup. Then she takes a sip. Then the spider crawls out.
I know there's a theory that there was 1 more kid other than the ghost kids that possibly got away and he's reincarnated as the cat don't know if u believe it but it would be cool
omg, the well one almost got me thinking the same thing about the other world. glad I wasn't the only one thinking that. but I don't know if that was true or not, but it's still my thought. I don't know if it is a true theory, but I'm curious to know. but I do wanna imagine how horribly terrifying it'd be if that was the theory.
Love the logic of the looping O, bc I know in my country this used to be (might still) be taught in school for handwriting. As in you had to do it either similar to or exactly like that. So.....😂
the movers have more of a back story than just friend cameos. joe ranft died in a car accident in 2005, which is why “cars” is dedicated to him. it was more special than just a random cameo; it was remembering a dear friend who passed away too soon. ^he worked on cars along with many pixar films before it, among other films. it was just the last one he worked on.
"Dreaming" is actually the same as/and shortened version of "Mechanical Lullaby", in the Soundtrack for the movie; only the pauses in the chorus are placed a little differently.
my favorite theory came from my insanely reilgious sister in law who said "the movie is an attempt to encourage children into witchcraft and worshipping demons". i asked her how that's the case when the "demon" in question is defeated in the end to the joy of all. she then admitted she didn't make it past the sisters performing because of their comically large busts, which she said was demeaning. i tried to clear it up for her and explain that these characters are hyperbolic in nature, therefore, body exaggerations fit perfectly with them. she of course disagreed and said something something "god" something something "sin" something something "witchcraft"
My Coraline timeline 1857: a boy was lured into the other world and was consumed by the beldam. 1907: a tall girl went into the other world and saw the beldam pretending be her mother. She loved her, but then her corpse was devoured by the beldam. 1946: wybies grandmother was born. 1950: wybies great aunt was born. 1957: mrs lovats sister went into the other world and loved the place. But she was then cunsumed by the beldam. 1969: wybies grandmother sealed the small door bricks and wallpapered over it. She moved out the pink palace after that. 1971: wybie and coralines parents were born. 1996: wybie lovat and coraline jones were born. 1999: wybie lost his parents when he was 3 and had to live with his grandmother. 2000: wybie becomes friends with the cat. 2007: the events of Coraline happened. Coraline and her parents moved to the pink palace from Michigan.
the n.18. Soundtrack is wrong. The other mother is humming 'Dreaming' the same song heard in the opening credits of the film where the doll is being made. The romantic song you're referring to is called 'Exploration' when Coraline first looks around the house
I always double loop my O’s. Mostly because I saw a girl in high school who did it and admired her handwriting and copied it because I liked the look. I promise I’m now a pathological liar!
I have a theory...Coraline's parents knew about the beldame and what she would do to Coraline, but they couldn't do anything directly, they could only guide her, like when her mom told her to go tell her dream to spink and forcible she was guiding her to go and get the stone, and when her mom got really worried that Coraline would want to stay in the other world she insists its just dreams and locks the little door to make Coraline feel "safe" or when at the end of the movie when her parents return and have snow on there clothes they say there gonna celebrate there "garden catalog" but are actually celebratin' that Coraline saved them, survived the beldame.
I never noticed before but when the sisters are on the swings in their performance, for a few seconds the spotlights light up in a way that makes their shadows behind them look like irises and moving around in eye balls. I wonder if that was purposeful!
This is a cool hidden video of coraline I love the movie it’s my favorite movie you made me realize what was the hidden stuff your the best ms.mojo love you ❤
I believe the well theory. If you look at the image of the portal Coraline crawls through, and then look down the well, the two tunnels look incredibly similar, just with different colours and texture.
I think it’s like giving clues, especially in the other world where three objects like free plates, especially with the painting in the background and the skull like images
Another one I find interesting is when the beldam got mad at coraline for her poor manners you could tell she wasnt actually a person just a horrifying creature that can shape shift into one
another detail: Coraline touched the poison oak branch with BOTH hands, but in the Other World, seemed to only have one hand with a rash. This is quite likely because of the first handshake Wybie gives her being a muddy one, so he cured her other hand instead of the Other Mother
I’ve never quite understood why the Other Mother does eat the “cocoa beetles from Zanzibar”, when she supposedly ‘only’ eats the souls of thé children she traps. Also, if every detail is on purpose- what is the significance of the little dinner bell the Other Mother rings when Coraline first sits down at the table to eat?
What about when she says everyone has an other mother Was she telling the truth or lying to make Coraline feel better I know the answer sounds like it’s obviously to make her feel better or something but if not that would mean that there are more beldams out there
Does anyone wonder how the beldam got the doll ball to make the doll look like coralline. It was in a different house. When wynee gave it to her. It already looked like her but he found it in a house beside the pink palace
If the well is another portal to the other world then why is the hand trying to stop Coraline? If it is then wouldn't it just pushed her into the well than dragging her away?
Can someone tell me..😊😊😊 1. How exactly does Coraline's mother know about the button key. 2. Is mother not locking the door on purpose? 3. There is no way for Coraline to escape from the other world, right. To come the real word, she has to wake up. 4. Is it possible that YB's grandmother was also trapped in the other world with her twin sister when she was young? Grandma must have survived. That's why she knows the story of seeing the sky from the well. 5. Is Beldam realy powerful? She only holding three children all this time, 🙄🙄🙄 6. What could be the window through which the doll is sent at the beginning of the story?
Bobinski doesn't have a bed. That's why he's blue. He's dead. Spink and Forcible look dead too. From their skin, to their awful eyes. There are multiple candy dishes because they must feed each victim to trap them. And the slamming door sound at the end of the film is so ominous. Signifying that she is still trapped and in danger.
The food thing reminds me of Dracula. In the book, Harker never sees the count eat, drink or smoke. Well, not when Dracyla knows Harker is looking at him. In a way, the first 3 chapters could be a Coraline-like horror movie by itself, a slow burn where you begin to suspect there is something odd about this count fellow. But surely those poor Romanian peasants must be delusional… right?
The extra dolls in the beginning of the movie are probably the beldam's failed attempts. Considering those three characters are alive, and to some degree are aware of the beldam.
another theory I have is that the beldame had a child of her own and loved to play games and make her child dolls/toys, one day her child fell down the well and landed in the other world, desperate to get her child back she made the little door but couldn't go into the other world herself so she would make dolls, toys and send mice and rats to look for her child and bring it back, years went past and she forgot what her child looked and sounded like even forgot their name, so every time people with children moved into the house she would take the children but after a while, she would realize it was not hers and in a fit of pain and sadness she would kill the "impostor" centuries pass and because of her luring and catching she begins to look more like a spider...JUST A THEORY!!!
Also I saw on another video That the egg the other mother cracks has the head of Jack Skeleton U can only see it if u slow the image down But it’s there
This movie is so good. A great introduction to horror for younger viewers, and still absolutely spine-chilling for adults. The stop motion is incredible, Dakota Fanning voices Coraline to perfection, and the Other Mother is perhaps the creepiest animated villain ever.
And if you read the book, its even more scary
From what I have heard the books are always better than the movies is that true?@@MERCHIODOS
One detail you forgot was the fact that the old well was located in a fairy ring (ring of mushrooms) that Coraline unwittingly stepped in. In European mythology, stepping in a fairy ring is bad luck. The fairies punish the human who does this by trapping them in their realm forever.
And that makes me think that the other mother is a curse for Stepping in the fairy ring

@@ASCENSI0N22 Give Me Those Mushrooms! I Must Eat Em

my favorite theory came from my insanely reilgious sister in law who said "the movie is an attempt to encourage children into witchcraft and worshipping demons". i asked her how that's the case when the "demon" in question is defeated in the end to the joy of all. she then admitted she didn't make it past the sisters performing because of their comically large busts, which she said was demeaning. i tried to clear it up for her and explain that these characters are hyperbolic in nature, therefore, body exaggerations fit perfectly with them. she of course disagreed and said something something "god" something something "sin" something something "witchcraft"

Reading into things too much can be a problem so I believe you.
Anyone have theories as to how she fell asleep in the other world but woke up in her bed in the real world without leaving through the door??
I think it's because the other mother wanted her to come back and didn't want to instantly scare her away.
Like a manipulative sort of thing
Everyone is posting about Coraline and it’s amazing.😂
That movie was messed up in the best way possible.
I never noticed before but when the sisters are on the swings in their performance, for a few seconds the spotlights light up in a way that makes their shadows behind them look like irises and moving around in eye balls. I wonder if that was purposeful!
LOVED THIS VÍDEO
This is a cool hidden video of coraline I love the movie it’s my favorite movie you made me realize what was the hidden stuff your the best ms.mojo love you ❤
0:02 ngl, wybie’s neck snap movement that he does makes me laugh a little bit 😂
6:11 a reference to a Shakespeare poem as well.
I love this movie 🎥🍿
Definetly the creepiest stop-motion film ever made....
In ancient mythology a ringing bell could symbolize a magical visitation or occurence.
Since we see the Cocoa Beetles are alive, it could mean, like spiders, the Beldam only consumes anything that's living and breathing.
Coraline is the only horror movie I watch because the others are terrifying
Same here. And it’s “pure”
@@krististarosta6736 i actually meant to say are terrifying
Some people have really studied this movie.
What about when she says everyone has an other mother
Was she telling the truth or lying to make Coraline feel better
I know the answer sounds like it’s obviously to make her feel better or something but if not that would mean that there are more beldams out there
The eyes of the ghost kids are the places they loved in the other mothers word
I love ❤️ the movie coraline
Does anyone wonder how the beldam got the doll ball to make the doll look like coralline. It was in a different house. When wynee gave it to her. It already looked like her but he found it in a house beside the pink palace
If the well is another portal to the other world then why is the hand trying to stop Coraline? If it is then wouldn't it just pushed her into the well than dragging her away?
Well there is a theory that Coraline's parents actually died in a car crash. In those parents are minions for the other mother
Can someone tell me..😊😊😊
She only holding three children all this time, 🙄🙄🙄
13:44 - It actually does look like the tunnel.
It just hit me now.
1:31 The door nobs change from unhappy to happy prob from other world
The food thing reminds me of Dracula.
All time favorite movie 🍿🎥 for LIFE ....❤❤❤❤
12:48 that would add some nightmare points to The Other Mother.

❤
6:21 This is definitely how I'd react if I was in this scene, lol.
The extra dolls in the beginning of the movie are probably the beldam's failed attempts. Considering those three characters are alive, and to some degree are aware of the beldam.
So Good, Algum brasileiro aqui ???
3:11 the song "dreaming" is played at the beginning of the movie
the song played in the previous scene is called "exploration"
this confused me lol
Did anyone notice how the red cloth in the sewing kit matches the couch in the down stairs neighbors place?
another theory I have is that the beldame had a child of her own and loved to play games and make her child dolls/toys, one day her child fell down the well and landed in the other world, desperate to get her child back she made the little door but couldn't go into the other world herself so she would make dolls, toys and send mice and rats to look for her child and bring it back, years went past and she forgot what her child looked and sounded like even forgot their name, so every time people with children moved into the house she would take the children but after a while, she would realize it was not hers and in a fit of pain and sadness she would kill the "impostor" centuries pass and because of her luring and catching she begins to look more like a spider...JUST A THEORY!!!
Also I saw on another video
That the egg the other mother cracks has the head of Jack Skeleton
U can only see it if u slow the image down
But it’s there
