The Frankfurt Radio Symphony has fast become my favorite orchestra! The sound quality, sound engineering , camera, etc... are second to none.... not to mention the SUPERB artistry of the musicians. Leleux is such a master, and a true delight to listen to and watch. THANK YOU!!
François is such a delight to watch and listen to - both his oboe and conducting. He's like a ray of sunshine. His oboe just warms my heart.

François Leleux is really a master. I thought his rendition of the first and second movements were astonishing, full of energy, subtelty, both effortless and singing. Then came the third movement, which is devilishly difficult. I've never heard something like this. I'm speechless.

Играла в училище переложение для скрипки, и в нотах не указан был опус...хотела найти аудиозапись - оригинал (для какого инструмента написано - в голове звучал "орган" при разучивании) - сначала думала, что как есть, для скрипки, потом - думала для органа с оркестром...а когда случайно в ВК узнала опус концерта BWV 1059, (спустя 6 лет от сдачи на экзамене) - счастью не было предела!!! Этот концерт запал в душу...(с 2011 года)
Могу слушать, исполнять до бесконечности...В этом вся музыка И. С. Баха!
Самый шикарный инструмент - гобой. Как же он безподобен и завораживает своим звучанием. С уважением, бывший гобоист.

なんて素敵なバッハなのでしょう！1・3楽章の難しさを感じさせない完璧なテクニックもさることながら、出色は第２楽章の、まさにcantabileを具現化したような、オーボエならではの艶っぽい音楽。オーケストラもきっちりとバランスをとって、あっという間に曲が終わってしまいました。ブラボーですね🎵

Das hr-Sinfonieorchester ist erstaunlich: schließt jede musikalische Zeit und jeder Komponist immer mit großer Kompetenz und innerhalb der Grenzen der Stile, Zeiten, Originalpartituren. Dennoch setzen immer ihre jüngsten Auftritte und mit bewundernswerter Frequenz. Ich liebe diese Band! Herzliche Glückwünsche.

Barth Rob I think it is because the entire performance is not by historical instruments, but by modern orchestral instruments. If he used a Baroque oboe, the clarity of sound would be less evident than this performance.
You are totaly right
However, the baroque oboe is more than other instruments different from itʼs modern equivalent, especially in the sound colour of different keys.

fuckin insane. Is he circular breathing in the second movement? I'm digging his style - I love the energy after his cadenza in the first movement. I would have given devil horns after or dropped the mic. Really incredible and inspiring performance.
I do think this us circular breathing in the second mouvement, but could someone else say it for sure ?

BWV 1059. This work, which is a reconstruction from a fragment, is listed as a keyboard concerto in the standard reference works. It works well as an oboe concerto, and Leleux is fantastic. But it's hard to hear the harpsichord; for a hall of this size, and an orchestra of this size, I think it is not loud enough.

Just googled it. I think i heard it quite well.
Honestly I think that the balance between the orchestra and the harpsichord _as basso continuo_ is quite good here, at least in the recording (maybe it was not while listening "live"). Of course it would have been too light as a solo instrument, but given the oboe playing the melodies the harpsichord accompaniment works very well.
