Why are they regular 3 color lights? Most light rail and BRT in the US have lights with a white line (vertical or horizontal) to prevent drivers from getting confused.
It's not allowed in the Ontario Highway Traffic Act, and Ford and his fuddling fools refuse to allow changes to the Act to bring it up to internationally recognized norms which include horizontal as well as vertical white lines. Commenters, if they have an Ontario driver's licence, should know the law on this. [Transit priority signals Traffic and pedestrians must yield to public transit vehicles at a transit priority signal. The round signal is on top of a regular traffic signal and shows a white vertical bar on a dark background. This allows transit vehicles to go through, turn right or left, while all conflicting traffic faces a red light.]
@@Vortexone112 ION is commissioned under the Railway Act. Federal. You exactly make my point. ION, since it uses trackage regulated by Transport Canada, is able to use *Federally mandated signalling*. Attempts have been made under the Ford administration to adopt same for Toronto...a number of times, to dead silence.
Let's see if the disgraced Phil Verster, yes let me spark my words very clear Phil Verster, who has TOTALLY FAILED TO @ LEAST KEEP THE PUBLIC UP TO DATE OF SIGNIFACANT TRANSACTION PROCESS OF THE PROJECT THIS ENTIRE YEAR, if he will ever make THAT official announcement this month that December will be that official month of the opening for the crosstown! If he makes that announcement @ the very last minute, contrary to the fact that he predicted three months prior to the opening, then without a doubt, he should not hold his position as metrolinx C.E.O, & SHOULD BE FIRED, NO QUESTIONS ASKED!
In Hong Kong's light rail system, we use a red T for stop and a white up arrow for go, which eliminates confusion for both drivers. I don't get why a light rail vehicle needs yellow signals, as the signal box should simply extend the green signal when a light rail vehicle is approaching an intersection, instead of telling it to slow down and make 200 passengers wait for 20 cars.
In Belgium lights for the trams are all white with symbols: - = stop; • = like yellow; | like green, also / and \ equivalent to arrows. These apply to Bus lanes and change 3 to 5 seconds before the car lights do.
Ya know in Amsterdam they have this cool thing called smart signals... When will Ontario get these so I don't risk getting ran over when trying to cross Yonge Street?
Ridiculous - are you expecting crashes from those who don't watch the video? Don't waste money on videos - and open the line for passengers, not just the train drivers.
Just give the lrt signal priority
This. 100x this.

I think they made the choice to do green yellow and red because that's what the existing TTC streetcar system uses

@@stephensaines7100 but this project started well before ford. And around the same time ION started which uses the white signals
@@Vortexone112 that's what I was gonna say iON did it so Metrolinx/The City definitely could've

It’s good to know when it’s open instead of wasting the Publix time building it
Sure, the info will be useful once we actually have the LRT opened.
Seriously, when will that be?
Thank god they are teaching us 10 years prior.
Lol they always find time to post anything but an opening date
LOL!😂

Thanks for the lecture about a phantom transit line.
I look forward to using this knowledge in the afterlife.
Great helpful advice Metrolinx 😊
Good, I'm sure this information will be very useful in 2034, when the LRT opens

Honestly I wonder if this video will ever become relevant.
thats great now lets play when will metrolinx release the LRT
Nice!
We have over 15 years before Eglinton Crosstown opens so will will learn about this by then
Let's play when will the lrt be opened?
There needs to be a full-on investigation into why billions of dollars were spent on two LRT lines that only a select number of people can ride.
In Belgium lights for the trams are all white with symbols: - = stop; • = like yellow; | like green, also / and \ equivalent to arrows.

Nice. So when will it open?
Road Guy Rob!
I'll revisit this if the LRT ever opens. I mean, when. :)

Interesting. But could have done without the affected American accent.
Incompetent workers vs competent workers
i’m guessing this means we’re getting closer to the inauguration
Do? You? Know? When? The Line 5 is going to be actually opened?
Who is watching in 2024?

If you have built a proper metro on elevated tracks none of this would be an issue smh.
It's gonna take some time for people to adjust to that. Expect a few accidents during the adjustment.
I feel like that would be confusing.... Should have done it like dart or the Houston transit
I think it was a big missed opportunity not building the line above grade. Therefore, this video would not have been necessary.
This is sick
Who's on vox here? Sounds very familiar.
Metrostinx 😂
NO LEFT TURN!
