Progress is being made on expanding GO Transit
From one rail line in 1967 to serving almost 60 million riders annually today, GO Transit is growing with the region.
As we prepare for the next generation of riders - a projected 200 million by 2055 - GO is undergoing its biggest transformation ever. Here’s how Metrolinx is expanding GO Transit.

Female drivers agree to touching so as to avoid sweaty smells while operating.
Funny they used the parking lot to represent Humber college
if most of it was going to be dug anyways, I feel like it would have been easier to just spend a bit more money and just make it a subway.
Another disaster of schedule and budget being brought to you by Metrolinx.
Whatever else might be true, you need a new line that goes through Bolton to Alliston. There are a LOT of people in this corridor that have to go either to georgetown or Hwy 400. It's way too far ... so they drive. I get that they'll have to double track the line etc, but the way houses are being built in this area the service already well behind and this really should be addressed.
Hope this doesn't get delayed more if there is any changes in government or plans like most big infrastructure projects in Canada.
This video is way too complicated; people just walk into Union and go down to the subway without paying. Why go through all these twists and turns when there isn't fare enforcement?
one f the slowest construction of all time. poorly managed.
when are yall gonna get around to stringing up the wires for Electric Operation?
just call it Hurontario like everyone else, NAME LINES AFTER THEIR TERMINI OR STREET LIKE EVERY OTHER LINE!!!
there are only 2 Train Stations in the Western Hemisphere that are busier than Toronto Union (New York Penn and Grand Central Terminal in New York)
People want the metro not the lightbrail
Rady to go with out 1 paying customer. Maybe it will be ready in 2030 if we are lucky. Where is the person incharge of this project. Making 3 figures pay while this lrt is a mess.
How many TTC employees just standing around doing nothing. This is never going to run. It is the most ridiculous waste of taxpayers money. I would be so embarrassed of beeing part of this project. If all of us would work like that the whole country would be destroyed by now.
why is Presto in Apple Pay not available in certain regions (Ottawa)
Walmart
Can't wait for the new wider platforms and for trains that would be able to go 60 mph heading INTO Union instead of the snail pace they're going right now in the station.
This station has to be a real gold mine for the city. Or does Metrolinx actually own it? Whoever owns it really should be rolling in the money with all the retail in it.
i think its got some kind of split ownership, i think the province and the city have split ownership or something
So a tram stop is great because it gives drivers something to look at? …what? LOL
Man this station gets better and better.
All of this for a TRAM??
Can't wait for the new bypass track to be built in the west end so GO Trains can truly carry any passenger to more places faster. No longer will passenger trains have to pass through Union to get people to where they need to go. This should have been done decades ago.
Bypass as in passing Union station and continuing westbound without stopping?
@nanaokyere7141 no, it would be not needing to go to Union at all. New routes will be possible to service city centres without having to go to Union. GO will finally be an inter-city train service not always needing to go to Union Station. There's a couple of recent videos on the topic here on TH-cam. The bypass has been called the one big missing link in the GO Train network.
No more LRT! 😊
🎉🎉🎉when will it happen??? 🎉🎉🎉
The year is 2040. People are speculating when the Ontario line will open.
This you have done like 20 or 30 years ago, but better than nothing
Ontario line should be a circle line O shape in the future 😊 please make it happen please
I really wish this was still called the Hurontario line
everyone in the Transit nerd community still calls it Hurontario,
@IndustrialParrot2816 I'm well aware lol I'm part of it
@ oh nice, (it shouldve been a Subway/Skytrain)
fyi, a bit misleading your video, mercer union centre bldg is at the nw corner of bloor st. w. and st. clarens ave., ... no where near close to the rail line flanked by davenport road and dupont st.
Cool... So Eglinton cross town?? What happened to that??
that project was extremely poorly planned and engineered, they did pretty much everything wrong it was a worst case scenario but ive heard they finally managed to get the leakage issue fixed (yeah there was Water getting into places it was supposed to be) at this point i think they are just checking to make sure they dont need to do anymore plumbing so they can finally open it (deep bore tunneling through Midtown was a terrible idea they shouldve elevated the line or done cut and cover it wouldve gone so much faster with far fewer headaches)
@IndustrialParrot2816 they should have done an elevated line just based on the fact we're in Canada and the freezing Winters are going to stop the crosstown every time it's too cold or icy. I don't even think they thought of a way to thaw the tracks with the snow and ice. 🤦♀️
😮😮😮😮403??!!
what about the 403?
great presentation - to the point, clear, and not afraid to get detailed and explain those details to the audience. well done, whoever put this together.
make sure to add solar panels to the platforms
Cheyenne, I see that your dream comes true because it is in you.
?
Mr. Patterson is the best!
You are the man, Mark
Can Phatz Ford fit into a passenger seat?
Nowhere to nowhere in two hours.
Might be ready to ride by 2040
this why Metrolinx needs to stop subcontracting everything and just do the construction themselves instead of getting private companies who pull ridiculous BS causing things like the Eglinton Fiasco to happen
Metrolinx and Union Station are still considered in-user friendly. One set of stairs to reach platforms, PA systems, escalators and digital screens constantly out of order. Try focusing on a mo tree comfortable ride for current commuters. Enforce the Quiet Zone, keep bags and feet off seats. Resolve door issues that regularly occur in colder weather. Be consistent with onboard announcements.
Still nothing for Windsor huh?
Does the presto cards work for these?
can you make the richmond hill line run both directions and during the weekend? There's no other way to get up there...
ah yes, leave it to Metrolinx to switch Spadina and St. George!
The only one question. Why the construction usually take so much time???
need go train in brantford an dalso go bus from brantford to Cambridge
Tell us whata going on with the Eglinton Crosstown. Not a short clip about a tiny bit of some project no one has any context about.
i wonder how the electrification process is going so far
I believe that the first stage is actually getting frequent service on most lines. To complete that, all the infrastructure must be completed. Its honestly fine that electrification is not the first step, because it really doesn’t matter as much as frequencies. A diesel train with a thousand people is nowheres near as bad as 1000 diesel cars.
@andrew_is_so_greatelectrification is crucial for achieving the frequency improvements they are aiming at
Taken forever getting all day service everyday service to Niagara via train
