at 9'51" where you create a new server, I wasn't given the option to create a username and password. I went ahead with creating the server anyway and that is done. But now I can't log in to SSMS as I do not have credentials. And the active directory authentication which I assumed would work isn't. Please help if you have any solution.
Hello Jay. If you have entered credit card details, then yes, some charges will be incurred. How much depends on what type of database you have provisioned. Have a look at azure.microsoft.com/en-gb/pricing/calculator/ for details. However, it's easy to keep a check on it. Additionally, for 12 months you do get for free "250 GB of SQL Database standard S0 instance with 10 database transaction units" - see azure.microsoft.com/en-gb/free/ for details.
Hi CeeJay. You can use "Azure SQL Database" "250Gb S0 instance with 10 database transaction units" free for 12 months. See azure.microsoft.com/en-us/pricing/free-services/ . After that, you would have to pay. If you want to use SQL Server for free, have a look at the Developer edition, which you download onto your computer. See th-cam.com/video/Y_J6zMvV_jM/w-d-xo.html . In resources we can see sql database and sql server , you have chooses sql database , could you please explain difference between sql database and sql server..
Hi Kannada. Azure SQL Database is a standalone database in the cloud - it doesn't require a Virtual Machine, whereas SQL Server on a Virtual Machine does. However, Azure SQL Database doesn't have all of the features of on-premises SQL Server or SQL Server on a VM. For more details, please have a look at more DP-900 course on Azure Data: rebrand.ly/dp900 . Phillip
Hello. You may be talking about SQL Server Management Studio. Please see learn.microsoft.com/en-us/sql/ssms/download-sql-server-management-studio-ssms for details. Phillip
Hello Sally. If you mean transfer the database, then you would need to install SQL Server on that Virtual Machine, and then copy it onto it. If you mean access the database, then you could install SSMS on that VM, and then access the Azure database through that SSMS. Phillip

If you go over any limits (ie network, cpu), are charges incurred automatically?
