Wow this color guard went through the routine so fast when I command colorguard for competition it usually takes about 6-8 mins to me they just went really fast
Does the command Sargent major only calls the commands or no ?
@@nelsonrivera9128 The person who wields the National flag is the commander of the color guard I believe. They dont necessarily have to be the Command Sergeant Major of the battalion.

we were a little nervous, it was our first national competition, we had some little mistakes that we worked on. I think we're doing much better now. Thanks for the advice

bbyflvcko in order to go to attention you have to give the order attention, which can be done from parade rest
Just a few critiques. I'll try and keep it in line with the performance so you can follow along:
-Not really sure what the flag bearers are doing when going to carry. Not necessarily wrong, but rather overly complicated. Looks like you both just miss your cups intentionally then correct yourselves. Just looks tacky.
-Do not speed up your cadence when going into your wheels. Keep your cadence a constant speed of 100-120 beats per minute throughout the entire performance. I suggest lifting your knees up higher in order to slow your steps down.
-Both guards show over-exaggerated arm swing. Do not swing your arms by your elbows. Keep them straight. Arm swing should hinge at the shoulder.
-Left guard had suspended arm swing when called to Post. Probably not intentional but a small detail they could have got you on
-Again flag bearers... your method of going to carry just doesn't look sharp. I'd suggest looking at other team's methods to simplify your technique. Will make you look a lot sharper.
-Please refer to the 3-21.5.for proper procedures to perform Colors, Reverse. All members were incorrect in their method.
-Incorrect method of parade rest by the flag bearers. Again, reference 3-21.5.
Altogether it wasn't a bad performance. The team remained on step for the most part. Alignment and spacing was good. Posture and body language seems too relaxed in some areas. Hope this critique helps.
Gage Fontenot another thing. Per ccr 145-2 piping on the wrists of the class a jacket is not allowed

Redhead no problem. A few more things I didn't mention upon further review.... flag bearers do not perform any movements on the preparatory commands for carry and order colors. Make sure you guards are constantly practicing with each other as they are pretty much the bread and butter of the entire sequence as they do so much. The difference between a 1st and 2nd place team typically is how well the guards are in sync with each other. Hope this helps.
One last thing to add, theres very little to almost no delay through the commands. Its not best to go slow but going through commands too quick usually ruins sync. Try adding a bit delay through commands so the guards can prepare to match each others sync. Hope this makes sense
How was the Colors, Reverse incorrect. Our colorguard uses the exact method and were also Army JROTC.

This is super cool, i joined jrotc and am in colorguard, I am part of apparently the first all female color guard ever (in my school at least)
The initial "post' was incorrect. On the command "Post" Left and right guards are to execute half left and right as in marching, four paces then face about. Also, during "Eyes, right", the commander is to return to the position of attention while marching and then give the command "ready, front" at that time the other members will return to the position of attention while marching...other than that very solid Color Guard.
What does it take to get to color guard?

Danny P. Well, my school allows for anyone to participate in our drill team. However, because we worked and practiced almost everyday we became better and better at color guard. After winning 1st place in all of our drill meets we finally got the opportunity to compete at nationals (that’s the video you see here). But as far as being selected? Basically I signed up for color guard, got put on a team, and then we worked hard until we thought we were good enough to compete at a national level. Of course, there was a few things we could’ve improved in our routine, but we were so nervous we didn’t think too much about those mistakes.
For me there were papers you could sign up to join, Raiders, Drill Team, Color guard esc... Show up on practice and you’ll be good

Ik its been a while well i just joined JROTC lol i decided to sign up for both marksmanship and color guard.
Do you have any advice? Cause im a bit nervous about color guard lol
If it's not a late reply, some recommendations I can give are, listen and don't think you know better then your commanders. If you don't understand something, speak up, nobody else will. And lastly, just put in your best effort.

huh thought the coats of jrotc cadets weren’t suppose to have the gold pipe lining around the sleeve
They recently updated the uniform code it used to be green now its the other color
They aren’t. This unit most likely received coats that were formerly used/made for actual enlisted soldiers, but did not remove the piping
Hey just a quick question. I’m the commander of the JROTC competition color guard for my school, and I just want to know what it is called when they pull their rifles off their shoulders, undo the strap, and put it over their shoulders.

Just to pint out, your uniforms are wrong. Can't have the gold piping on the cuffs.
I think thats how the uniforms are made but im not sure. We just wore the uniforms we were given.
