Ramy Ashour is your non-traditional player with a unique style of play. He even has a unique way of holding the racket. His technical skills are unmatched. Most players play it safe along the rail and wait for the right opportunity to attack. Ashour just attacks. Really miss watching him play.
It’s been a few years since I’ve started watching the pros and I’ve always heard these wistful comments about this dude named Ramy. Now I get it. Genius and an artist. Joy to watch.
Feels so good to see you back at your best Ramy ! Mesmerizing squash. Please give a chance to your opponents next time so we can see some epic 5 game matches again
He makes many great shots but it is his movement that is my mind phenomenal. He has the energy to stay light on his feet as he recovers to the T. In fact it is built into each of his shots. Part of his follow through is a light bouncing kind of shuffle that probably feels like relaxation to him. Compare with some other players that look like they are laboriously straining to get back. Or for that matter to simply move. Perhaps that playful light movement carries over to many of his shots...
Ivor O'Connor yes this kind of movement is the one he had till the Windy City Open 2014 and for the last few years he had a change in footwork. Glad he went back to this bouncy footwork which suits his style! However it looks like there is still some work to be done to be as light on his feet as he was in 2013
Ramy is coming to our squash academy in Pune/India next month … super excited to have a chance to meet him. ( I am 50 and play squash as a recreational sport and absolutely love it… but more excited to have my 2 boys meet him…have just got them started on squash..they are just beginners)
Most naturally gifted player I've seen... or Amr Shabana...hmmm a close call for that honour in my humble "I can't play squash at all compared to these guys" opinion 😁
Car Addict .......Squash should be an Olympic sport. I use to play racket ball. The gym I was a member of did not have squash courts, but I have always enjoyed watching it when it was televised. Ramy was an absolute Master!!!
I love the wry smile on El Shorbagy's face at around 3:45 after Ashour's incredible recovery to win the rally -- MES seems to be saying How TF did you do that!? The supreme compliment by MES?
Ramy has the best temperament on tour. combined with his style and elite shot-making ability he's my favorite in squash and now number one. it's just so unfortunate that he's often riddled with injuries. not too sure about the man-bun though, but I'm sure his priority is more about the squash and lessa bout the haircuts :) PSA SQUASHTV what's the name of the background music at 2:50?
I'm American and a racquetball player and I've met some people that from the Eastern side of the world who have said some very good things about squash. I've never seen any footage until just now and it is actually very similar to racquetball, especially outdoor racquetball. I would definitely like to try this out. I've enjoyed every racket sport I've tried so far. Tennis, pickle ball, and now racquetball. I wonder where in the US this is played?
at 4:05 he appears to play a shot that he might not have had to. I´m guessing he could have been awarded a stroke. He was ready to hit, he certainly could (and did) hit a winning shot, but he waited for Shorbagy to clear. He exhibited this spirit of fair play and sportsmanship his whole career. I believe he knew it was better for the squash audience if he tried to play balls where possible, not just accept a stroke.
The greatest ever, by a country mile, AND whos career was hampered by injuries from the beginning! had he been injury free of his hamstring and knee problem, he would probably got DOUBLE TO TRIPLE the number of trophies and tournament wins.
Without a doubt, one of the greatest players in the history of this sport.
His last PSA win. So sad to see him go. The best of all time.

Ramy makes it look so easy... effortless! Legend! 🙌🏾
bynahelemaal the best part is when I see kids trying to emulate his swing, and they can't, because they don't have his mechanics or body awareness 😂

Loved watching him play. No one like him
Every time I hear the commentator exclaim after the shot at 3:43 I just lose it LOL
Ryan Gordon HAHA

Sure is! When he's on form no one else comes close, or is as entertaining to watch...
Best Squash Player of all time no doubt!!
It was and will always be the great Jhangir Khan
Always great to watch. You especially know he's great when you see how out of position Gregory gaultier gets, as greg is usually master of the 'T'.
ايه يا ناس معقول مفيش حد مصرى يشجع ابن بلده

every single shot/rally is a master piece. However, the technique, speed, reaction, power, everything! @3:18 are too too toooo INSANE
Omar Velázquez for me that’s actually the easiest shot out of them all
Omar Velázquez agree with Joe... that one isn't at the top of the list
Omar Velázquez s
It's a hard shot to make at 7 points a piece against El Shorbaggy. And to do so in a final of a major tournament.
So good to see him fit and playing like this again. Hope he gets a good few years injury free so we get to see more
