You must be magic - I watched this video and about 10 minutes later the doorbell rang. It was the neighbour dropping round my purple CW Twelve, which had arrived while I was away on holiday. You’re not wrong - the purple is absolutely gorgeous. I can’t believe how dressy the watch feels. Also, it’s an excellent cure for jet lag.
This was always gonna happen, people bought too much into the hype that every rolex was an investment, a easy way to make money and that they couldn't loose. The bubble is bursting apart from on a few models and all this daft TH-cam self inflating prices will hopefully stop.
Nice video Vinny! However I disagree with you on the Celebration. I was recently at a big watch show and my buddy was wearing it. We must have been stopped at least 18 times by people making a big fuss over it. I really like it as well.
Fair enough! I’m glad you’ve seen it in person because for me before seeing it, I loved it, saw it at W&W and it horrified me! I guess that’s the great thing about watches, we all have our tastes and seeing them in the flesh is the only way to know how you really feel. Thanks for watching!
Vinny on your advice I bought a Ciga Design Z Series and I’m very impressed with the quality, look and value. Hard to believe that you can get such a nice watch for very little money.
wow congrats! so glad i could be of help to a fellow collector! I personally prefer it on the leather strap provided, for the money its excellent though. Who needs a RM?
In 2023, the most "criminal" thing you left out is the Rolex buying experience at the AD's. In the US, the AD's are still going on about supply & demand if you want to buy a steel model like the entry level Oyster Perpetual or GMT Master II, you have to buy thousands of dollars on pieces you do not want. And the final insult is buying a used CPO watch over list over the same watch in new condition. Buying a Rolex watch at the AD is definitely a "binner".
Well this is a facade they can only keep up for so long, the AD landscape will change in 2024 as they realise they are struggling to sell the mediocre models
@@vinnyfranciswatches I am hoping that my patience pays off. I can’t wait for the pendulum to swing back toward the collectors and test their negotiation skills. BTW, as the Rolex market resets, how is your resale business doing?
Vinny, the Tudor GMT with the praline dial caught my eye at the AD. After you called out the chunky case, do you think Tudor will use the slimmer case of the Black Bay for the GMT, or does the GMT need the bigger case due to the GMT function?
Hi, the tudor gmt movement is indeed in house but is characteristically a chunky one and they’ve done all sorts of tricks to make this as thin as possible including a larger bubble on the caseback and shorter depth of the dial and handstack, they can’t make this any thinner so unless we see a new or revised movement from tudor, this is it
Great video fella. Tried to talk a friend out of the blancpain but to no avail. And not only that,he wants the collection 😱 Love the Heritage, just wondering if they will px my Harrods for it ??
Haha well he’ll have a collection of dummy watches in a few years! And i doubt a tudor AD would offer part ex, though the new heritage is superior in all specs to the Harrods, that’s long overdue and update
Agree. At 25% lower IWC would have attracted many watch enthusiasts who had given up on the brand to give it another look; at this price they are just going to sell to existing customers. Sad.
So good! Honestly incredible how they fit the chrono within that case shape, manage to skeletonise it beautifully and then just to show off have a reverse duo face too, JLC are mental
Very true, in a historical sense. I believe however Rolex are moving on from the tool watch moniker. They aspire to gravitate towards the luxury segment, meaning they can set much higher retail prices and chase bigger profits.
I honestly still think your channel is underrated by miles as compared to the other watch channels on YT. With your typical British humours, is just a matter of when not if you will reach 10k and beyond
The JLC chrono is my winner of the year. Your CIGA design comment is telling. Many people dismiss the burgeoning Ali Express clomage industry but I bought several that are well thought of by fans just to have a look. They are surprisingly good. One reason could be the the Swiss mid tier are outsourcing part manufacture more than ever over there and they're becoming good at it. Excellent video as always.
Thanks so much and a very true point made! I wonder what percentage of chris ward watches are made in China? They only need to contain 50% swiss made parts to earn the swiss made label
@@vinnyfranciswatches yep, take off the crown guards and drop it to around £7k and it would fly off the shelves. It’s like they don’t want to make money….
Pretty much agree with your every word Vinny 👍 Even with George Bamford wetting himself all over the Ingenieur, for me the biggest elephant in the room is the price; starting at £10,500!!! IWC has hilariously over-priced it, especially when you consider that can pick up a really good 4hz homage for £230 (incl VAT)🤔, which is even more amazing value when you compare to the £400 disposable Swatchpain! Still don’t like the design though 😂
The Ingeneur in person is very beautiful watch but it may look better without the crown guards. In terms of the price, I think it’s a little under price in today’s market given that the last IWC genta design watch was +£7k 10 years ago and this new one is £10k. In a space of 3 years the retail price for the genta watches and overseas have gone up by more than £5k. It’s hard to name a brand that hasn’t increased their prices, if you take the Rolex sub date this has gone up more in 10 years than the Ingenieur but yet there aren’t a lot of people saying it’s overprice😂
Why don't you want to talk about the topic, that the watch market is dead, anymore? And furthermore, has the signalling value of luxury watches gone down as well?
What you dont understand was the 222 was a 1:1 of the original the iwc wasnt ever supposed to a 1:1 ie remake its a reinterpretation. Using modern techniques isnt in anyway what remaking for modern times has to do with. Yes one of the aspects is using modern techniques (ROBOTS) but slightly altering the case, hands, dials, material all has to do with it. So adding crown guards is genius especially for a sports watch. Even more genius is with out a doubt they nailed genta style of crown guards. Remember young lad they were making a modern REDESIGN of the classic not building a 1:1 of the original. Slowing down and listening to the explanation of what the watch is would of made things easier for you and possibly looking up and re educating yourself in some of the varieties of doing remakes
By adding the crown guards makes a big visual impact to the watch and if the motive was to make a watch that closely resembles an icon of the past by the brand then visual impact should be the paramount criteria. Crown guards to protect the crown is a lamb afterthought excuse in my opinion - no one who wear this type of watches will ever use in situation that may cause damage to the crown and even if so, they can certainly replace them at the service centre
IWC choked their own chicken, flogged it, then drowned it with the Ingenieur 😢 First the freaked it, then they overheated it, then they overcooked it, then they overpriced it! 🪦 🐓

Bought the white dial (Opaline)GMT Tudor 1 month after launch, haven’t really had it off my wrist since! One of my best buys 🔥
congrats! I’m excited to see if tudor refresh the BB58 line in 2024
Thank you, Swatch Group, for killing Blancpain as a brand. It took quite a while to do so but you finally made it! 👏 👏
If they keep raising the prices on Omega, then they will kill it also.
Great vid again Vinny. Keep um coming and keep telling it like it is 👏🏼👏🏼👍🏻
Thanks, will do!

You absolutely nailed the Ingenieur. Such a disappointing release and way overpriced despite all the fake hype.
For sure, though the aqua dial is beautiful, it definitely too overpriced
