This song is very close to my heart my husband used to ask me to marry him I was 14 he was 16. we would have been married 50 yrs this month but he died 6 yrs ago. This song always brings tears to my eyes. Thank you!!
Edith Larsen Thanks so wonderful! This is one of my favourite songs, I heard it when I was 12 and still love it! I hope I can song this with my future husband one day!
One of my all time favorites in my oldies collection. I've always had it in my library. I'm 70 and clearly remember when I first heard it and I loved it then.
I love when Ray opens a water bottle for Jill when she is struggling with a dry voice. Even though they married other people, they will always have that special love for one another.
Like other urban legends it was long reported that "Paul & Paula" (Ray & Jill) really didn't like each other and had recorded this song when put together by a music company exec. Clearly urban legend! This interesting interview not only refutes that long-standing claim, but also explains the origin of the song and the record. That so many years later Ray and Jill could come together to discuss this history is truly wonderful and I thank those responsible for putting this out for us to enjoy!!!
Just great classic music and songs after all these years appreciate true love and romance doesn't get any better than this keep on playing job well done you should be amazed and proud love you guys thanks ! Joe
Something told me to listen to that song just a couple of days ago and I played it on my phone on TH-cam or something and I thought what a beautiful song it took me back to the old days and now I seen this little tape about how you guys got that done that's amazing you you did a beautiful job it brought tears to my eyes listening to it the song it was so innocent back in those days and it should be
Delighted to be on request to sing a popular song after so many years. Ray and Jill show that you you should always be prepared to be in the public eye no matter how old you are.
The first "pop" song I remember. My sisters must have had a copy. So nice to hear a song about love that is also sweet. That a college student would write, "True love means waiting..." is almost hard to imagine in our present culture. Wonderful things are most wonderful when experienced at their proper time. The song makes me long for a sweeter time.
Read Ray's book and you'll know the truth about everything. Ray made a big impact on the Christian recording scene in the late 60's and for many years after that. He is a committed Christian man. They are not married to each other but both were married to other people.
I remember Major Bill Smith, who worked real hard to make that record #.1 I never got to meet Ray and Jill, but I am friends with the Majors 1st # 1 records artist Bruce Channel. He had Hey Baby. Thanks for the memories guys.
Sweet to see them after all those years. Such a beautiful song they had. It was different times back then...the record companies would have eaten them alive if they'd been around now.
Record companies routinely ripped artists off back then, as they do now, though I have to add that some artists are their own worst enemies. These two didn't say how much of the proceeds they got to keep, but at least they didn't invest half their lives into something that ended up enriching everyone but them. They approached this with a realistic attitude and enjoyed it for what it was.
I remember Jill ( Paula ) from high school. Such and sweet and caring person. You and Butch were dating at that time. He was tall and you were petite. Such a good couple.
I got the pleasure of meeting Smokey Montgomery not long before he passed away and he was still playing his banjo with The Lightcrust Doughboys. It's wonderful that Hey Paula was recorded in Fort Worth. That is where I live.
Wow! They sure had me fooled! I thought they were 'Paul & Paula!!' And I thought they were a Couple!! Who both got married 2 each other!! It's such a Relief 2 Discover the Truth after 60 years😄❤️🥇‼️
I am not sure if these singers are the first Paul and Paula (related to Elizabeth Taylor. This one looks like he is related to Soupy Sales which would be under the control of Frankie Sinatra Jr. But, the originals allowed for covers...usually in the case when people show up to do the "next of kin". She reminds me of a long time friend of 65 years Anne Miller's daughter, right? Push them back fellas.

Love this song!
You are very blessed to have had a beautiful journey most people will never experience ❤️💍🌹🥂
My deepest condolences on the loss of your husband 🙏🙏
Suffer you must not, for he is in heaven loving you forever more.
So sorry for your loss
I listened to these two as a teenager, and now as an old woman. What a delight Ray is. Wow! They don't make 'em like that anymore!
One of my all time favorites in my oldies collection. I've always had it in my library. I'm 70 and clearly remember when I first heard it and I loved it then.

Hi Mary, very good observation! I believe that this is what "Love" is all about ("Love" in the broad sense), Peace be with you, Ciao, L
I like how he opens it for her, fiddles around with it for eternity, and takes so long to give it to her!
How refreshing these two people are still together and look great.
Wow, these two beautiful people really hit a home run. A time less song .

That is a great story !!!! Love it! I have loved this song since 1963... I was 16.
Delighted to be on request to sing a popular song after so many years. Ray and Jill show that you you should always be prepared to be in the public eye no matter how old you are.
Not everyone is outgoing and I believe they may be "introverts."
I still have their Christmas album and I have played it nearly every year since they made it in 1963

They both still look great
Copy that.
That's REAL LOVE there. Since 1963 Paul and Paula. It's nice to last that long in a relationship.

K&D Denier Thank you for that, I will definitely try to find the book. That particular song is very special.
Thx I wanted to know if Ray & Jill Married in real life.
I remember Major Bill Smith, who worked real hard to make that record #.1 I never got to meet Ray and Jill, but I am friends with the Majors 1st # 1 records artist Bruce Channel. He had Hey Baby. Thanks for the memories guys.

Dick Clark said Ray was homesick for Texas, but is that true?
Wow !
Did you know they sell tripods?
How lovely.
I'm amazed the accents disappear when they sing.
Also, how they drag out the drawl in country & southern songs.
Talk about being timely.
Hey Ray I wish you and Jill could have teamed up with buddy holly
I thought that paul and paula were their real names
briiliant
God is good!:)

Does anyone know if they were ever romantically involved such chemistry between them?

Frank has never sung or recorded this song. this is Perry Como
Those two couldn't stand each other back in the day. Looks like they're doing a valiant effort to be good sports, years later.
michael will I read that too but like it or not, its THIS song she is known for and I am sure she and he are really proud of it too.
News to me. I liked them as a duo even more than Dale and Grace, although I enjoyed their sound as well.
Couldn't stand each other, may be a bit strong! Ray just wanted out of the show biz life.
