Connie Francis deserves a lot more credits than what She has, not only in the R&R Hall of Fame but also the Country & International as She is the only one ever to sing in so many different languages. Such a true blessing! Have been a fan of Her ever since I was a Teen.
My Dad played Connie Francis records when we were growing up. She had an amazing voice and it's great to see her doing so well in her later years. She's 85 as of 2024. God bless her.
Christmas Eve 1967 at the end of the 10 o'clock news, footage of our boys in Nam was showing with Connie singing this in the background. I cried. I'm crying now. Earlier in 2/67, my brother who was stationed in Greece, but his friend was killed in Nam. In '05 my son's friend was killed in Afghanistan. RIP BOYS.
I was 10 years old and was on vacation with my grandparents in Fort Lauderdale when they were filming. They closed the street and we could cross to go to the ocean with no traffic! It was great...we got to go see the part where they were talking about the corner that is now Connie Francis Corner. My friend and I got to meet her in person. She was so nice to us. I NEVER forgot that summer vacation!

I have always LOVED Connie Francis. One of the greats of the 50s and 60s. She SHOULD BE in the R&R Hall of Fame.
Just saw this n it sure brot me back to those yrs when I saw that movie n it was one of my favorites n that was my favorite song too..She did a great job n wish I was there watching w everyone.
WTBA. Was a coming of age film for my generation...all of us were born before WW2 & when I graduated from CHS 1959, this film was the "go to" for summer fun
Words fail me to describe the legendary Connie Francis. I absolutely love her music period. I remember seeing the movie "Where The Boys Are" It is a movie in which you can forget the outside world and enter into a time and place where the outside world does not exist. This is one of the very few movies that had that effect on me. Connie was always a beautiful soul and woman and will forever remain alive. There are a lot of posts about why Connie has not been inducted into the RR Hall of Fame. I certainly agree with these posters. Her voice took down the world by storm and her music can never be matched. My favourite song is "My Heart Has A Mind Of Its' Own" A beautiful soul who is more than worthy of her contribution to music and earn the right to be inducted into the RR HALL OF FAME. Thank you Connie for all your music and for sharing it with the world. Big Esso, Ne Gusumun 💖💖💖🎼🎵🎶🎼🎵🎶💞💗💕
I was in my 20's in the 60's, and on one beautiful summer day there was Connie Francis standing at an outside counter in midtown having a cool refreshing drink. I couldn't believe my eyes, I shyly approached her, she was so pleasant, so beautiful and her smile was pure sunshine. I said " your Connie Francis" can I get your autograph? I pulled out a piece of paper and pen and she gave me the autograph.....I was so happy. I wished her well and went on my way. Within a few months someone had stole that autograph from my home, even though it had my name on it....to this day I can't forget my meeting Connie Francis and having her autograph. I also curse whom ever stole my autograph.
I was there in the crowd and it was totally magical! Thank you for this wonderful video and all the memories it holds for me and so many others! Connie shines like the star she is and always will be.
One beautiful and wonderful singer and entertainer. I have a Saturday Radio show in Melbourne, Australia and I play Connie's songs proudly especially as I was around when they were released and I remember the film, 'Where The Boys are'. Connie should be in the Hall of Fame. Stay well Connie, we all love you here in Australia, I really mean it...
Just Beautiful! I got teary eyed when I saw how touched Connie got when they made that presentation to her. She certainly deserved the recognition, and I'm glad that there were a lot of youngsters that could hear about her and hear her lovely voice. Thanks for sharing this post!
She still has her beautiful voice. She got through so many rough patches in her life and still a strong woman.. If you listen to her sing Where The Boys Are during her prime...I get chills, man. I love you Connie!
Connie Francis was one of those singers I admired when I was a teenager. She was such a beauty too. And it is nice to see 50 years later she can still sing. The song is very good and brings to me some remembrances. So good that Ariana Grande did recently a cover of it.
Awesome Lady, I loved her then and now. Truly my favorite singer. I am glad to know she is still moving forward and I thank Fort Lauderdale Beach for honoring her and her outstanding music. Like many in the comment section says.... SHE SHOULD BE IN THE ROCK AND ROLL HALL OF FAME!
A special "Thank You" to Connie Francis for attending and singing at this event. What a beautiful soul and you can see the love you have for your fans still resonates in this video. Always loved your heartfelt music & always loved you Connie!
Met Rev. Mother Dolores Hart when I wrote an article about her years ago. This very gracious woman continues to stay in touch (we're FB friends). She looks amazing and recently celebrated her 77th birthday! She got top billing in "Where the Boys Are" and even as a cloistered Benedictine nun is very proud of her film career.
I stumbled across this video and was thrilled to see it. Brought tears to an old man's eyes. Long live Connie! I know her music will never die. Thank you so much for posting this....
Connie, I always loved you. I used to sit on a hill & sing your songs to all my friends. They always told me I sounded much like you. What a compliment that was! You're my favorite of all times. What a voice & what a lady!!! God Bless!!
the Best Singer Ever..Connie Francis...I've been a fan since the 50's, Aspired to be like you...Been singing your songs for years, since I was 14...You are Still the Greatest! I so admire your Courage & Grace...
No one with any sense could expect her to deliver a studio quality version of this song after so many years. It was all about being in the 'moment', her presence acting to coalesce scattered and barely recalled wispy memories into something a little more tangible if only for a brief time. Is it not possible to celebrate the accomplishments of the past and still honor the person of the present?
d'arc madr If this was meant for me, yes, I can honor her in the present, but not THIS SINGING, which actually made me cry thinking of what once was but is no more -- and then to follow it with the original only made me cry harder.
Connie, I grew up with you and your many MGM recordings back in the 1950s and '60s. I love your music just as much now as I did then. Thanks for being such an important part of the soundtrack of my life!
Mr. Guerrero This lady turned up and sang and did her best. No one sings the same 50 years after any song they recorded.. Please be gracious to the lady.
I grew-up singing and I stopped in my mid 20's then I tried to start again in my late 30's..I was shocked at how my voice just did not have the same quality or strength that it had as a teenager/ 20 something..So I get it and to be honest I think she did an amazing job.Just like stated below all of the pressure that she must have felt due to her fans wanting to her the younger version of herself had to have played a huge part on her performance..
Why the heck isn't Connie in the RR Hall of Fame!!!!! She was the Women Singer in the fifties/sixties! She's had MEGA Hits!! Why isn't She Nominated!!!!! Come on People!!!! She's a Treasure!!!!!
I was shocked when I heard about chubby checker not being on there, but Connie Francis? I'm going to look into that.....I didn't know THAT til just this minute!
desert3347 Im with you. That’s absolutely disgraceful. What a BIG SHAME. This wonderful performer should’ve been in the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame like 20 years ago. Connie Francis is one of the very best Top 10 female singers of all time! I didn’t know she wasn’t in the Hall already. SAD
I wonder if Bette Midler had any plans for us ? She spent a lot of time with me years ago . Something I will never ever forget . I was 22 and she was 34 , she told me she just bought a house and we talked like we were friends and perhaps more ? She asked me do I like kids ? And do I wanna get married ? I should of said you mean us ? Lol " Then later she asked to sit next to me , Then pulls up a chair sitting very close to me " saying oh my feet are so sore .. I said really And she said yeah " so then she starts rubb ing her legs and takes off her shoes rubbing her feet right before my very eyes ..
I probably have 30 Christmas CD's from the top singers and hers is the best of all. Her "Ave Maria" rendition brings goose bumps everytime I hear it. What a beautiful voice.
I was in the military when that movie came out in 1960. I caught it at a theater when I was home on leave. Great movie, great song and most importantly... a great lady. Thank you, Connie, for all the wonderful memories..
Bless her - she looks amazing for her age and sounds great too. I love to see these significant entertainers of the past thanked, honored in their later years! It means so much to them - and their fans. Thank you Connie!!
My parents had a condo in Fort Lauderdale and used to be snow birds going there for years. Connie Francis was a huge singer in the 60;s. A great voice. she looks and sounds awesome.

I grew up with this WONDEREFUL lady, listening to her in The Royal Navy UK, from my little years, then in my older years in the navy........SO LOVE HER....WHERE THE BOYS ARE.... A WRECKED COPPER, THE MET PLOLICE, LONDON, SCOTLAND YARD AREA. ALMOST DYING MAKING AN ARREST, I RUPTURED, LOST SO MUCH BLOOD. This WONDERFUL lady, alongside many artists, helped me.
Thank you, Connie, for sharing your beautiful voice with the world! I used to sing Where the Boys Are at school and at friends parties while I was 16 and they told me I sounded just like you 😅 You were my only female teenage idol and I love singing your songs while I was growing up.
I was just a teenager with stars in my eyes.because Connie Francis was the best and I'm not gay I just loved her voice she took me to another place and my life. A good place where I needed to be.
where have we come to when every valid emotion and genuine admiration for those that bring joy to our lives has to be looked at as venial by others so that we have to apologize for having a "hero" , somebody we look up to with love and admiration
My older sister had the 45 (that’s a record to those who don’t know) and I grew up hearing it. My big sis is gone now so Connie brought tears to my eyes 😢
that voice has given us fans here in englang wonderful pleasure. hope, elation, and some of the best entrtainment this planet has had to offer. we love you and we thank you connie.
What a very special day for Connie. She deserved it all One of my favorite singers ever. So many great songs and wonderful memories of being young and in love. Ft. Lauderdale is a special place!!
Damn!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1 Pushing 80? Obviously not preforming under the best circumstances. No lip syncing.True professional. Beautiful , sexy lady. Her voice is stunningly beautiful
She looks fantastic. She's working now to help Vietnam vets. She also has her own record company. She doesn't like her songs associated with negative videos. As a matter of fact she said that some of her songs that are uploaded on You Tube sound so good that bootleg record companies down load the songs and sell them. Anyway, glad to see this video.
you have to recognize her talent. she can out sing anybody who would even begin to criticize her. It took a lot of courage to even come down and sing after 50 years after all she's been through.
I was 2 when this film came out. It was one of the first beach movies. I would see it on TV in about 66 with my parents. I love the movie and still watch my DVD of it about o ce a year.
Poor Connie...She absolutely did not want that song version to be the title cut for the film...nor in it at all, probably, BUT...this is the song that truly catapulted her into the consciousness of the entire country, once and for all, and has kept her current for all these years. No matter what or where, when this song plays, there aren't lips that do not move right along with her, nor a dry eye either...for those of us who lived it, it was such an innocent time. We didn't know it would never last or ever be the same again...and in such a short time. It's so funny...her father was dead set against her doing the film at all feeling it was too, too risque for her. He was such an Italian Papa...a tyrant when it came to her doing anything at all. Only she knows what her success cost in terms of freedom and being her own person. So many of her recordings were his song choices but he did serve her very well, as it turned out. He was right on the money but didn't really know it back then! Not since WW II had there been a female singer who could replace those iconic ladies of song and Papa insisted Connie record the good old standards. I doubt he understood the new Rock N Roll! When he won the coin toss on all those recordings, it cemented her legacy for time immemorial and when she recorded in Italian and then many other countries in Europe...that was it! The whole world went nuts hearing her sing in at least 5 different languages to begin with! In the end, Connie Francis outsold every other female recording artist out there and her popularity was so well deserved. God bless you Connie....from a fan who absolutely adores you....still!
I was in the Army in 66. We all went to the base theater. Where The Boys Are was playing. Don't remember anything about the movie. But listening to her sing that song blew me away. Powerful voice, great lady.
I only know of Connie Francis from old clips that I saw on TV as a kid, and I think she sounds just fine considering that she is not a teen and has survived things that could have taken many people under. I give her a standing ovation for surviving and causing her fans to smile 50 years later!
Connie Francis has a pitch perfect, clear as a bell voice. It’s an instrument. She’s never on those ‘oldies’ shows on PBS, I’ve always wondered where is she? Well, here she is..wow! That man not only droned on and on, he was repeating himself as well.
I have an old 45 of her singing Baby’s First Christmas, which was my Mom’s, and I loved list to it on my record player as a child. I still have it, & haven’t listened to it in many years. I might have to find it, and play it!
Back in the late 1980's my friends that grew up in the 50's told me that Connie Francis was just as big or bigger than Madonna. I believe it. Such a great voice. Listen to her sing Al Di La from Ed Sullivan Show.
I'm glad somebody posted this. I didn't have a problem with the mayor's speech - it was all part of the celebration. Now I think maybe I will have to watch the movie again.
This Italian cannot change the radio station whenever Concetta Rosa Maria Franconero comes on. Always loved her and her music. Always will. Luigi Antonio diFilippo, a.k.a. Lou Phillips, Boerne, Texas
This was in my opinion has the greatest voice of all time! I loved her then, and I still love her today. She doesn't have to be in the Hall of Fame, She is the greatest of all Time! God Bless you Miss Francis. Thank you for so many memories and so many GREAT< GREAT< GREAT SONGS! What a legacy to leave to her fans for eternity!!!! LOL XOXO
50 years later and Connie still sounds tremendous! No one like her! What a beautiful lady and singer...wow!

A WRECKED COPPER, THE MET PLOLICE, LONDON, SCOTLAND YARD AREA. ALMOST DYING MAKING AN ARREST, I RUPTURED, LOST SO MUCH BLOOD. This WONDERFUL lady, alongside many artists, helped me.
Damn after 50 years and she still sings great! I know she won't sound the same as she used to but even for her age she still sounds amazing
fire your audiologist ~whoever IT is
Thank you, Connie, for sharing your beautiful voice with the world! I used to sing Where the Boys Are at school and at friends parties while I was 16 and they told me I sounded just like you 😅 You were my only female teenage idol and I love singing your songs while I was growing up.
That was such a great movie - very mature subjects compared to most teen movies of that time. Love Connie Francis.
A lot of people from a movie from 1960. Shows what an impact it made and how great Connie was
I was just a teenager with stars in my eyes.because Connie Francis was the best and I'm not gay I just loved her voice she took me to another place and my life.
I just love Connie Francis .Have a lot of her songs.. so beautiful and still sings so beautifully,
that voice has given us fans here in englang wonderful pleasure. hope, elation, and some of the best entrtainment this planet has had to offer. we love you and we thank you connie.
What a very special day for Connie. She deserved it all One of my favorite singers ever. So many great songs and wonderful memories of being young and in love. Ft. Lauderdale is a special place!!
I was born in '58. I didn't see this movie until about 1972 when they began showing it on TV. Loved the song.
Damn!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1 Pushing 80? Obviously not preforming under the best circumstances. No lip syncing.True professional. Beautiful , sexy lady. Her voice is stunningly beautiful
Great Connie!
@atube4view I just want to be sure here: Are you saying she deserved to be raped and severely beaten?
@atube4view You are officially the most disgusting commenter in the history of youtube

You are a disgusting loathsome toad. Watch out for karma

Thank-you for uploading this clip!
Connie Francis has a pitch perfect, clear as a bell voice. It’s an instrument. She’s never on those ‘oldies’ shows on PBS, I’ve always wondered where is she? Well, here she is..wow! That man not only droned on and on, he was repeating himself as well.
Thanks for this. I love when Connie gets the recognition she deserves
Connie Francis is my favorite singer. She has beautiful voice.....
Simply the best
Same here, my favourite too, Shirley 👍 God Bless her.
I have an old 45 of her singing Baby’s First Christmas, which was my Mom’s, and I loved list to it on my record player as a child. I still have it, & haven’t listened to it in many years. I might have to find it, and play it!
Oops, I meant listening, not list!
A great film and singer. God bless you Connie Francis.
Back in the late 1980's my friends that grew up in the 50's told me that Connie Francis was just as big or bigger than Madonna. I believe it. Such a great voice. Listen to her sing Al Di La from Ed Sullivan Show.
Connie Francis is a National treasure, Voice of an Angel!
Una canzone bellissima c
Yeah maybe 60 yrs ago..... wouldn't pay money to hear that !!!
I'm glad somebody posted this. I didn't have a problem with the mayor's speech - it was all part of the celebration. Now I think maybe I will have to watch the movie again.
This generation still knows what a GREAT time is all about! God Bless All!
.
Still beautiful! Despite her difficult life, she’s a sweetheart💖she makes Italians proud!🇮🇹
This Italian cannot change the radio station whenever Concetta Rosa Maria Franconero comes on. Always loved her and her music. Always will. Luigi Antonio diFilippo, a.k.a. Lou Phillips, Boerne, Texas
She's a beautiful lady and her songs will live on long after beyonce is dead and forgotten.
