Did he actually succeed in growing appletrees that produce fruits season after season or is he only trying to do so? Because as far as I know, apple trees usually need a colder winter than the ones in the Gambia to initiate the flowers and after that the apples to grow from the tree. But maybe there are species that don't need that?
He has succeeded in growing apple trees and they have been producing fruit season after season. The Gambia soil and weather is somewhat miraculous if I can say that. It beats so many odds to allow the growing of tropical fruits and veggies science cannot explain. I have seen people grow strawberries in The Gambia and they do so well.
