Looks fun, I’ll try it as I’ve gotten a GSM iPhone 4 off of eBay, sadly on iOS 7.1.2, but with this tutorial, hopefully it will go all the way back to 4.3.5! With no jailbreaking!
I still have an iPhone 4S that came with iOS 9.3.5 but I was able to downgrade it to iOS 6.1.3. I also have an iPod touch 1st generation from 2007 thats still on iOS 1.1.5
Great video and great channel :) By the way, Legacy IOS Kit has recently appeared, with which you can downgrade in a few clicks, jailbreak and much more (not only for the 4th iPhone). If you can - make a video about this utility, I think it will be useful. :)
you probably have an iPhone 4s. it’s pretty hard to find out which one is it when you look at it for the first time. and yeah, you can downgrade 4s model only to 6.1.3
@@MattsTech Note: This tool relies on iOS 7.1.2 blobs (that's the whole reason why it's even possible to downgrade, iOS 7 has an exploit), so no it won't work on an iPod touch
Use legacy iOS kit instead. it's easier to use you don't need an old version of mac os, you still need mac os but not an old version and you don't have the iOS 7 apple logo on boot
It has been, indeed. I’ve simply not had the time or mental stamina to work on it. I hope to work on it more when I move out and don’t have to deal with so many responsibilities while I’m still living at home. :)
I’d suggest putting your device in DFU mode when restoring, and if that doesn’t work, try restoring from a different computer or use a different cable.
Hey, for some reason, I couldn’t get the downgrade to work but when I went to restore it back to iOS 7 it’s now refusing to restore. It looks like it’s restoring, but soon as the restore is done, it goes back to iTunes recovery image
I would suggest putting your device in DFU mode to restore your device. Press and hold the power button and home button for 10 seconds while plugged in. After that, let go of the power button, but keep holding the home button for another 10 seconds. Your iPhone should display in iTunes or the Finder, and you can restore it from there. If this doesn’t work, your device could be physically damaged, however, this downgrade cannot cause that, it would have just exposed a pre-existing issue.
Never mind got my iPhone 4 to work again. I just had to use powderedsn0w thank you though. also the downgrade tool you have in the description is missing like most of its files and doesn’t work
You cannot use the GSM-2012 iPhone 4 with this downgrade. I have attempted to downgrade my iPhone 4 to iOS 4 with S0meiyohsino before but have failed on MacOS Mojave; is that too new?
@@MattsTech yeah, that’s fine, no worries. Btw, downloaded never version from GitHub, trying to install iOS 5 and sadly bricked my phone, it does not go out of recovery.
Hi I have a problem with my iPhone 4 3,1 because the power button doesn't work anymore. It’s stuck to the iTunes icon and I tried so many things to downgrade to iOS 4, or to iOS 6 in their old fail, and I don't know what to do!
Yes for the music and movies but most but not all apps will work, too can fix that by downloading on a it device with same Apple id then going into the purchases section of the IOS 4 phones stored and getting it from there.

6.1.3 ones was released in March 2013. You mean 6.0 or 6.0.1 or 5.1 or 5.1.1?

The 2012 iPhone 4 can be downgraded to as low as 6.0, though 6.1.3 would be the better option if you prefer a more stable experience.
Hi the download link doesent work anymore
link not wotkinh
CDMA iPhone 4 can be downgraded. I’m running iOS 5.1.1 on two of mine
The link is broken, it says it was removed due to terms
I’m stuck with “Could not retrieve device serial number. Unable to continue” can you please help me?
can u do one too with iPhone 4 iOS 7.1.2 to iOS 5.1.1 in 2024 on macOS 14.5?? :) can't find any video who does this
From what I can tell, you can't use macOS 14 to do this, as the added securities in newer macOS versions break the process.
Now this makes me wanna buy an iPhone.
I downgraded a cdma iPhone 4 to iOS 5 with legacy iOS downgrader, and my phone came out in 2012, don’t even think iOS 5 ran on it originally
Oh interesting! I'll have to look into that later! I guess there's a new method for those phones!
I can't find the files in the link you provided, seems to be missing the "s0melyoshino-master" file.
lol you're in the right place I've just got an iphone 4
Is there a method of this for the ipod 4?

There are methods to put your iPhone into DFU mode without a home button using redsn0w. You’ll need an older Mac for this to work.
My iphone 4s is in boot loop and I can’t restore it because its home button is broken and i can’t go in the recovery mode any solution?
The iPhone 4S does not support this exploit. You can try using redsn0w though to make a DFU mode IPSW, and then restoring it that way.
