This is probably the best AustraIian rock song ever. So sad so many young kids don’t even know it exists.

These songs kept my partner alive for many years. He did 5 tours, but sadly came back with ptsd and drank himself to death but these songs were his everything. The other persons comments are right, where are these heart felt songs now?

This insanity grabs generation after generation. I can trace PTSD back in my family to 1916 including me. He was a warrior, I know that might be of little solace but he was a warrior. I wish you peace Gen

I know this song has a lot to do with Vietnam War and the disillusionment of a romantic relationship but I associate this song with the separation and subsequent divorce of my parents, my family falling apart and me coming to terms with it. The line "How can I go Home and not get blown away?", is how I would feel going back home after the years of war and trauma, sitting there at Christmas with my moms new family and driving home crying. I could write an essay comparing every line in this song to that 15 year car wreck. "When the War is over got to start again" and I did. 37 and I'm at a better place than I've ever been inside and have come to terms with and forgiven my parents for their inabilities and mistakes. Song still makes me well up though.

Cold Chisel never took in Canada. Canadians don't know what they've missed in this great band. I've been following CC since '79 when I picked up East out of a bargain bin for 10¢. It ended up being one of my top ten albums of all time. So sad at the moment to learn of Steve's passing. Too bloody young is all I can say. RIP.

I found Jimmy Barnes by accident. In the early 80's when he was trying to break out here, he released "Freight Train Heart" on WB records, and a dear friend of my dads was the head of promotion for WB in Nashville at that time. I regularly got a stack of CDs and cassettes (transitional period) of new releases. I heard Jimmys voice and was blown away. Many years later I was in the US Marines and was dating a Kiwi that lived in Sydney, and she introduced me to Cold Chisel, and the deal was done. What an amazing talent all around.

I watched the young girl in the clip , see the feeling the emotion , THAT IS WHAT IS MISSING IN MUSIC THAT KIDS LISTEN TO TODAY, WHEN YOU LISTEN THIS BAND , LISTEN TO THE SONG , LISTEN TO WHAT ITS ABOUT THE WORDS, LISTEN TO THE HEART OF IT FROM BELLY AND THE HEART, ITS BRINGS TEARS TO YOUR EYES. great songs performed by kings in own right. Floored again by unbelievable talent.

Living in the USA is tough for an Aussie sheila 'til Barnesy & Co come on .... and I'm home again, for as long as the song lasts ... and I'm totally stoked on a permanent basis that I was in high school when they got started ... what total rippers they are! Mossy had one of the biggest debut albums selling over 140,000 units it was a double platinum album not even Barnes achieved that at the time of his debut album in 1984. Moss is an incredible talent, but Barnes was money maker for the labels, he had a certain something that really was a bankable sure thing. It is not always thoroughbreds that take the prize, and with Jimmy there was "Np second prize".

This is a beautiful power ballad that is a favorite from the first listen.
I particularly like the change from the traditional arrangement (chorus,..verses,..back to chorus) and the change in the vocalist throughout the song. That is the magic of music as performed by Cold Chisel.

Steven Prestwich (born 5th March 1954) is an English-born Australian drummer, guitarist, singer and songwriter. After relocating from Liverpool, Prestwich was the founding and long-term drummer for pub rockers Cold Chisel which formed in Adelaide, South Australia in 1973. He wrote the Cold Chisel's songs, "When the War Is Over" and "Forever Now", from the 1982 album Circus Animals. He had a short spell in Little River Band. Prestwich has released two solo albums.

Wow, I can't believe I never heard of this band. This song is incredible. It's a shame they never became better known in the US. Watching this video takes me back though, to a time when going to a concert meant going to listen to your favorite band perform. Seeing a band live was about the music, not about the glamour and glitz of the stage production. Sometimes simple is so much better. RIP Steve

That was me at the age of 15, and one of the best nights of my life. So glad I got to see them before the amazing Steve Prestwich left us.
I get to see them again this year in Sydney and I cannot wait! Who knows..maybe you'll see me on some footage again!

Guiseppe Calabro yay finally seeing a comment saying about emotion instead of about “ Jimmy Barnes screaming, screeching” the disrespect that people show Jimmy is disgraceful. Yay for you brother!!!! Peace
