For anyone that still doesn’t get it, Mark II is the base model, it’s literally just called the JZX Mark II. Okay the Chaser is the sports trim package. Think of it as the civic Si. Has some aggressive styling cues. And the Cresta is the luxury trim, think civic EX. The interior is more Japanese business class. They all have the 2.5 1jz (it’s in the name JZX) only a few models have the twin turbo
Couple weeks ago, I bought a 96' GX100 Mark II off my buddy who had imported it and brought here to California. Despite it not having a 1jze and instead having a 1g-fe, hence GX. Its an absolutely gorgeous car, not sure if I wanted to make a drift car out of it. Considering it only has 44,000km(27,000m), I wouldn't mind making a VIP car out of it because it's just too damn clean. This video is much appreciated because calling it a *Chaser* didn't seem right at all, but dang. The Cressida is a really pretty car of itself. Love the Chaser too
Hey mate. Appreciate the comment. Car seems too nice to drift from what you are saying. Its a Cresta not Cressida I think that was another model commonly sold in the US in the the 80s. Its like the JXZ81s I think but dont hold me to it
@@GeorgeHampl oh my bad, I had a brain fart when I was naming off the car. Those cars are Uber rare here in the states but I've only ever seen one on the streets. Just before I aquired my GX, I saw a Chaser and a JZX100 at a car meet I went to. Sparked motivation to getting my GX, but there are a handful of options of what can be done to the car. Considering how clean the car is, I'd like to keep it as is for a little while, and the engine isn't really worthy of tuning or modifying unless I swap in a 1jz. VIP style tho 🤤
I have a massive soft spot for the Cresta! I'm not sure why haha! Thanks for the explanation. It's always easy to tell from the back between all 3. Easy to tell the Chaser apart from the other two from the front due to the round headlights. However I always confuse the MkII and the Cresta from the front.
Bro, it was about time that someone made a video like this one 🙏🏼 tired of having to explain all these idiots on social medias that a Mark II IS NOT A CHASER 😂😂😂 (I own a Chaser myself and I’d go for the Mark II if I had to chose between the two others). Earned a new sub, well done 🙏🏼
Oh I learned something. So we had two JZX81's, one said Chaser on the back, the other said Mark II, the Mark II was the one we preferred as it had a nicer interior. We called both Chasers tho as apart from minor interior differences, exterior was basically identical aside from the center piece of the tail lights, so as far as we were concerned, both were the same car, one just had a less cool name. Thanks for the video tho, I'm now aware that my favorite Chaser, was not a Chaser lmao
Thanks a lot for the video the JZX100 Mark II is my favorite and I am about to start making a rc drift replica. The shots of the headlights and taillights were very helpful as I would like to get the pattern in the lights correct. Also where are you based are you somewhere in the uk?
Great vid , but at 1:38 = 'unlike the cresta and the mkII '... These stay confusing even in a video like this... Did russian have left hand drive versions ? I think I know the answer but let me dream a tad bit.... Cheers
can you feel the extra weight and height of the cresta over the other 2? or is it negligible? heard the cresta is like 180 pounds heavier and up high but never hear a driving comparison.
simple math.. if u want non vvti turbo, u go with the jzx90 Tourer V trim (mark ii, chaser, cresta) if u want vvti turbo, u go with jzx100 tourer v trim (mark ii, chaser, cresta)
youre the only one to own one of these x100's and make a informational video so I think youre the only one to answer this. What does the V/S mean in Tourer V/S? I can't find anything on it. Just non-sense things but knowing would be cool cause I got a Tourer S.
@@GeorgeHampl oh great! Is swapping 1jzgte or 2jzgte + manual trans into the lower trims (roulant s, tourer s, or even grande and diesel) cheaper than buying manual tourer v or roulant v trims?
I have a 1985 MX73 Cressida (Australia). Just wondering where exactly the Cressida fits into this family of cars. I was initially under the impression that it was a less luxurious version of the Cresta, but doing some reading, it seems more related to the Mark II. So I'm a bit unsure (I'm a lot more familiar with Aussie cars, rather than Imports). My Cressida is a generation earlier than the cars in this video though, so maybe things were changed between gens?
I am not super familiar with the Cressida, but I believe it was essentially Mark II named differently for some markets. US, AUS, NZ and probably some others.
wait a minute so i just found this video, i thought these all fall under the mark ll model ( cresta, grande, cressida, chaser and the tourer V). hence the similarities
