What I love most about the DW is how strong and bright and clean the oscillators are. So many 80s analog polys had (in my opinion) weak oscillators which makes for a little bit of samey samey sounds, but these bright oscs sound so good through that filter and it's because they're sharp. And even though this is a gorgeous demo and sounds so incredible, the DW will always be this "bad" synth to forum heads and critics. Bizarre.
.... stilllll got my EX-8000 rack version after all of these years!!, awesome true analogue sounding synth from mid/late 80's 😁👍. Originally had the synth, but keys were very clacky and need more studio space so logically went for the 8000 - a defo keeper!! 😎🙏🍻🇬🇧🔥
The sound of “Crescendo Brass” at 6:35 almost sounded as though you could hold down the beat for a whole song if you kept playing that way without stopping (or set up a loop). I had a chance to purchase a DW-8000 in January 2007 shortly after arriving in the city of .Indianapolis. My reasons for not trying to get it weren’t good. The closest I’ve gotten since are the MS-2000 I got in October 2008 and the microKorg XL I succeeded it with in April 2010:; each of them has waveforms from this synthesizer uploaded to its first oscillator.
Some synths just take you back to a specific time. Definitely has a vibe... stick some modern effects with stereo imaging on this and you're in another land. For me 1985/86 was the year I got into synths and I recall this in the shops along with the Poly 800Mk2 and Casio CZ5000. Always a bit too expensive for me (£1200 on release) ... it was a small fortune to part with £450 for my Juno 60 back then. Pretty sure Tangerine Dream were using the rackmount (EX8000?) of the DW8000 on some of their 1985-87 albums....
Even better sounds can be obtained by reprogramming it yourself, but the Korg presets weren’t too bad, compared to other synths that came with horrible presets.
Fantastic hybrid synth . If there is just an audio , i could think , it is full analog .Nice , slim design .
Nothing like a little Kevin Moore to show off that juicy solo patch.
That part with choursed el.piano, could be soundtrack for some 80s movie, I would LOVE to hear something similar 😍
I miss low budget movies and tv shows that used solo synth like these for all their sound tracking.
This and the DSS-1 are still great synths, and yes, the DSS-1 is primaraly a synth. Maybe a dinnertable second. 😁
The filter is soooo creamy in this!
Vecchie glorie, questa è LA storia. Grazie del video.
I've never seen one this new !
The low strings section ❤
Some great sounds there. Well played.
Great video as always! Cheers from Brazil!
I just subscribed because I love your montage sounds you post on Soundmondo. Please keep them coming.

Did the same thing after my KB version started dying. Will never get rid of my EX. Such an amazing, underrated, unique synth.
Ci siamo passati in molti...
Tu no... quando ci passavo io non eri ancora nato 😂😅😊❤
Eh no! Mi mancava qualche anno 😂😂
