Lunar Choir for me. OMG !!!! What a creamy soft pad. Too bad the stepping of the filter is hearable, even though it's faint... Could you tell us what base waveforms you used for it? (if possible, please)
Im wondering if it would be possible for you to make a video with a single note sound of each single waveform on its own with everything else open just a single note like C for every sound. Ive been searching and seaching and I cannot find for the life of me an answer to which DWGS waveforms do this and the Microkorg actually share? This has 16 and the Microkorg has 64 but I don´t know if any are the actual same? Ive looked at the pictures of the waveforms and its possible to maybe identify one or two but even the way the waveform is drawn is different. Without an actual DW-8000 its really an impossible task. Or if you have a Microkorg it would actually make a really cool video demonstrating how close a Microkorg can get to the DW-8000 and pointing out which waveforms are which. I cannot be the only person who has wondered this over the years.
You could download the FB-7999, a software instrument simulating the DW-8000 (it's a freeware) and through that you have direct access to all 16 waveforms you are looking for. At that point you can very easily make a comparison by playing the virtual instrument in unison with the Microkorg to understand which waveforms correspond.
Great patches ! Is there any chance you can share some ? I also own a DW 8000, haven't used it for ages I admit, maybe it's the right time to give it another round
Lovely vibes! My ultimate mid 80's cinematic/soundtrack machine is actually synth of similair concept, the Kawai K-3. Highly recommended if you find one! All the best.
Taking a look at the specs and comparing them it looks like the DSS1 takes everything great about the DW8000 and expands on it, adding custom DWGS waveforms, oscillator sync and more advanced detuning features. According to the owners who have had both, the DSS1 sounds a lot fatter and warmer than the DW series!
I had an 8000 and now has the DSS-1 but still miss the 8000. It’s easier to turn on and get going where as the DSS can do more but is more complicated to use. I want to get the 8000 waveforms into my DSS tho
The same great filter (with an addition of 2-pole mode), but it's also a lot bigger and heavier. If you have the space for it, go ahead. To me, DSS-1 does not sound "a lot fatter and warmer", it is about the same sort of character, there's just more options in the oscillator section.
I sold mine for $250 like in 1993 and replaced it with an 01/W. Regretted it immediately. The 01/w was great for a lot of things, just not fat analog sounds. Also, no portamento on the 01-w so no more Riding the Storm out :) Ended up buying another DW-8000 5 years or so ago and still have it.
Great sounds. Great chord progressions.
Fantastic demo. "Aurora Strings" and "Asimov Pad" are my favourites.
This thing sounds so beautiful. Loving the way you play it
One of the best sounding synthesizers ever made. And these are some of the best patches I've heard on it!
Oh my goodness - that Res Choir patch and what you played was heaven!!!!!
Beautiful sounds and such great progressions my friend.
Thanks Frank!
Always beautiful sounds with even more beautiful playing brother.
You have module version of this synth, what a dedication!. :)
Wow, this sounds incredible!
Wonderful sounds - well done!
The pads are so legit, its the best.
I‘m glad that I have a DW8000, too
Is it possible to buy your patches?
really nice!! any chance you could share the sysex file with these patches? thanks
Nice sounds.

Why not reissue this and not the unnecessarily over equipped mod-wave?
4:30 cool sound

Are these patches available?
Ditto! (Willing to pay for that!)
wow is the swell an brass your own patch? crazy - eyes watered a bit
Great presets!
What external efx did you use?
Only a Lexicon LXP 15 to lengthen the tails a bit, so no compressors, no equalizers, no choruses, no effects whatsoever.
Good!
I have a DSS-1. Do I need an 8000?

You need a Prophet 5.
@@dan-h2g It's been on my wish list for some time, sooner or later it will join to the gang ;)

These are cheap used. Lovely patch design there, my dude.
I really dig It... And now I want to find one 😅
