I feel like I've come a long way in 30 days. I have zero experience when it comes to game development. Once I have all the basic functionality of the game in place, I'll look to build the world out a little more and then release the game for free on Itch.io

I'm no games developer but I have been where you are before. I've started a different game dev project at least three times over the years only to get distracted by something more shiny on the other side of my brain so I put the game on the back burner for bit; then a bit longer; then one day I remember I had a game in development but by the time I get back onto it I forgot everything I've learned! Whats the point of this comment? My advice, fwitw, is make sure you stick with it otherwise you will find all these new "skills" will evaporate like puddles of rain in the summer sun.

For your checkpoint it would be cool if the fire was unlit and then lights up when u pass it showing that it's active but loving what you've done so far it's taken me till the age of 36 to start my game dev journey but I'm loving it so far

Nope you’re wrong. Ubisoft will take you. They don’t work on good games any more. Just ways to grab as much money as they can from you with extras that should already be in the game!
