Hi Pete, you're... welcome 🤣. I don't wash my kits either, but this time that "cooking oil" was very visible on some of the sprues. I'm a chronic hand washer, so I've never had any problems with oily fingertips. Your IPA sounds like a better choice, I'll use that next time if I see another kit covered in "Crisco" 😉
That is one very nice looking bird, what I like about your videos is firstly the comprehensive list of tools and materials, I can't think of anyone else who does this and also your music is pitch perfect neither too loud or soft and finally the potted history spaced throughout the build. I note that there doesn't appear to be a F-4 in the previous builds I love to see your take on it. 👍 from New Zealand.
Hi kiwiruna9077, thanks. I try to cover many bases that will inform, guide, and entertain. So I'm glad that the productions are providing that for you so far😊. And, as Stephen has commented, this channel did an F-4 build a few years back. I hope you get a chance to check it out sometime 👍
I like how you incorporate the old movie clips. There are always a few good laughs! I can relate to your comment about modelers and weathering. While not in the military, I work on Air Force aircraft and I've run into many people who know better about what I've had 20 years of experience on. I kind of have to laugh sometimes about the modelers who try to correct the people who actually worked on this stuff.
Hi chrissakal532, thanks, glad you enjoyed the movie clip inserts! Yep, the biggest experts are the ones who were never there and "read it in a book" by a college professor. 📚
As usual, good to see another Max video - always informative and educational 😉 I really like the format showing tools & materials and extra content - nice work on the Prowler as well. 👍 BTW, I still haven't finished that F-111C 😅
I have enjoyed following your channel on here, it's fun watching you build your jets and have been wanting to try a few things myself. Keep up the great collection that you have going.
Fantastic job Tom! Love it! Another fine Long Island product right there, and another beautiful build! Glad the notification worked! Now you have all the modern Grumman carrier deck mates all together again (F-14, A-6, EA-6 and the E-2)... Just need that C-2 Grayhound to do some COD runs for those crews.
Hi Phil, glad the notifications are working! I didn't realize I was building out the Grumman line until you mentioned it! Rob Roy may very well tune-in if I do the Mighty Greyhound 🥳
Hi Drewsmodels, thank you so very much! Also, thanks for the terrific advice, absolutely brilliant! I'll look for a fine tipped red paint pen. I do remember a time when I was a kid using a Sharpie on a model, but when I dull coated or gloss coted (can't recall which) the ink started running on the plastic surfaces. Maybe I didn't let it dry long enough before applying the clear coat? Keep up the great work on your channel! 😊👍
Thank you for another great video and build! Most enjoyable with all the additional information you work into your clips. It brought some memories of the kinetic intruder back up i had on and of the bench for seemingly 10 years. 😇 (it's finished now....)
Hi romangmunder4238, as you know, dealing with a Kinetic kit doesn't go very quickly! I'm glad you like the various elements provided within the videos on this channel and it's nice to hear that there's something for everyone in each installment that is enjoyed. 😊
Hi foabmoab, thanks for stopping by and checking out this Prowler! I started (a little bit) Project #37 on November 4th. It's has more pieces than anything we've built before, yikes! I hope you'll visit for a look-see on that one when it's uploaded in the future. 🥳
Hi ReeferMadnessLive, for sure, the Kinetic kits should not be approached without due caution! There are a few land mines, and as you saw, I stepped on one. I know you'll conquer yours! 👍👍
Hi petermoscone3115, I really procrastinated on this build , it should have been done in early September. Thanks for the kind comments, it helps keep me in "the fight" 😉
Great video Tom. Love all the extra narration, it is so helpful. Easily one of my favourite jets, love the shape of the Prowler. I usually find that water based acrylics need more air pressure to spray well. So glad you included the A-6E Intruder in your final shots, two of your best builds.
Hi Stephen, I guess I could talk all day normally. But doing narration made my throat sore. You can kind of hear my voice change over the course of the video. I was hoping this release would finally push me over the 35.8k subscription mark, but I actually lost three in the last hour 🤣. I may try to do one more video before the end of the year, but I'm going to see if I have another Devastator on my hands first 😉
Hi fleetwarrior75, for sure a favorite I'm seeing now! The Prowler seems to have hit a vein of interest in the mining caves of modeling ore. Or something like that... 😂

Hi NAVAIRinScale, yes, you're right. I just looked over the guide after seeing your comment. The numbers on the decal sheet and the instructions are swapped! Yet another error from Kinetic. I didn't catch it 🤬

It is 5:30 in the morning and my day is starting off well with another Max_Afterburner video. Very cool project, Tom. There was a sale on a 1/32 Trumpeter A-6A and naturally I took advantage. Good kit but much to improve on and correct. It will be posed in flight on one of my stainless steel stands. Quinta Studios cockpit instruments with back lighting and a pair of ReedOak figures. Reskit sales for five MER and twenty eight Mk.82 with Mk.15 Snake Eyes. Plan is to have changeable hard point stores. AOA decals. We had Prowlers visit the Hamilton, Ontario airshow, late 1980s-90s
@@MaxAfterburner Thanks,Tom. It will be a long build. With a large load out I am spending many hours on surface stress effects. As usual the Trumpeter recessed detail is too deep and exaggerated. I also have the three 1/32 Tamiya F16s and the three F-4Js being worked on. May have mentioned this before, I am a fan of the JASDF F-4EJs and ordered the last two (supplier informed me) spare E nose sprues from Tamiya Japan. Not satisfied I am making a silicone mold to make resin copies. If they turn out and you wish to build a Tamiya 1/32, F-4E, I can possibly help as the E and EJ kits are no longer in production. Hi TheModelGuy, probably my last Kinetic kit. There's just too many pitfalls to worry about rather than the build itself and one got by me on the final approach. Good luck on yours, but I know you'll be able to tame the wild beast better than me! 👍😊
Ah, Kenitic, the gift that just keeps on giving. I have an unfinished Harrier from Kentic, almost unbuildable. Its a shame because they do subjects that others don't.
Great build on a notably difficult kit due to engineering issues which kinetic seem to be synonymous. I built this some years ago but took the folded wing option for storage / display so it’s nice to review my memory whilst watching you build and overcome the same issues. Also I found the colour call outs incorrect.
We've lived on Whidbey island for decades south of Whidbey NAS. Watched A6 and EA6Bs fly until they we're retired. Now they are replaced by the Growlers (NAS Whidbey lost one and crew a couple weeks ago from SILs squadron) but still miss those tadpole shaped Prowlers and Intruders.
Hi blister762, I hate to see the greats of military aviation get retired too. I did see the news on the Growler loss. It will be interesting to learn what the AIB reports when they've finished. I'm sure "Mover" will cover that in detail from a fighter pilot's perspective at that time.
Hi, may I know what was your psi and thinning ratio for the ak 3rd gen paint? I'm having issue getting the paint to spray out properly despite thinning it properly with their ak thinner. The psi I used was 1.5 to 2.0 bar using a 0.3 airbrush. Thanks for the videos you made I've been following you since the Tamiya F-14D tomcat build.
Hi grahamaker1648, I got it down to a 60% paint to 40% AK 3rd Gen thinner ratio. I was shooting up at 26psi which equates to ~ 1.8 bar to you. My needle is a 0.35 in the Iwata Eclipse airbrush.
@MaxAfterburner thank you for the feedback. I tried spraying yesterday but ended up clogging my airbrush and made a huge mess cleaning it as it all turned to a rubbery gunk. When it was spraying it keep spitting like a water sprinkler. Is it due to the airbrush too dirty?
Perhaps. I've been using different paints recently and their reaction to different cleaners has been varied. Some clean off fine, others leave a gunk like residue that you describe, and still others are in between these results. I may have to write them down in order to keep track. 🤔
@MaxAfterburner please do if you have the time. Your feedback from your builds are very useful to me. Learnt a number of new style of build from your videos
Hi paulschab8152, it depends on what I was working on. The MEPP received no gloss/dull coat prior to painting. The main body of the jet received the gloss coat for paint work protection and for the decal tasks. Another aspect I was intending to showcase is that the VMAQ-2 Prowlers back in the day had a semi-gloss coat rather than the modern dull coats.

Hello maybe you can make a Translantic Airlines Boeing 747 200 from Theo Survivor 1981 that would be nice LG Silvian Bauer
Hi silvianbauer489, I've never heard of that movie, but I'm intrigued especially since it has Jenny Agutter in it. I remember seeing her in "The Eagle has Landed" and "Logan's Run". I thought she was so pretty in "Logan's Run"! 😍
Thise who think the military keeps their equipment clean and spotless also think military grade is the best standard for equipmet instead of made by the cheapest budder
Hi jimmorrison2783, definitely 😉
