A Max upload is always welcome.
As a personal preference, I never wash kits. I build it then before primer I wipe it down with ipa.
If you don’t wear gloves whilst building then you’re covering it with oil from your skin.
This ensures no contamination before paint.
I like the paint scrape on cockpit switches. I’ll try that 👍
    Cheers Max🍺🍺🍺🍺😊

Hi Pete, you're... welcome 🤣. I don't wash my kits either, but this time that "cooking oil" was very visible on some of the sprues. I'm a chronic hand washer, so I've never had any problems with oily fingertips. Your IPA sounds like a better choice, I'll use that next time if I see another kit covered in "Crisco" 😉

That is one very nice looking bird, what I like about your videos is firstly the comprehensive list of tools and materials, I can't think of anyone else who does this and also your music is pitch perfect neither too loud or soft and finally the potted history spaced throughout the build. I note that there doesn't appear to be a F-4 in the previous builds I love to see your take on it. 👍 from New Zealand.

I like how you incorporate the old movie clips. There are always a few good laughs! I can relate to your comment about modelers and weathering. While not in the military, I work on Air Force aircraft and I've run into many people who know better about what I've had 20 years of experience on. I kind of have to laugh sometimes about the modelers who try to correct the people who actually worked on this stuff.

@@MaxAfterburner Thanks,Tom. It will be a long build. With a large load out I am spending many hours on surface stress effects. As usual the Trumpeter recessed detail is too deep and exaggerated.
I also have the three 1/32 Tamiya F16s and the three F-4Js being worked on.
May have mentioned this before, I am a fan of the JASDF F-4EJs and ordered the last two (supplier informed me) spare E nose sprues from Tamiya Japan. Not satisfied I am making a silicone mold to make resin copies.
If they turn out and you wish to build a Tamiya 1/32, F-4E, I can possibly help as the E and EJ kits are no longer in production. With a small modification a F-4J kit can be used to convert.

Hi paulschab8152, it depends on what I was working on. The MEPP received no gloss/dull coat prior to painting. The main body of the jet received the gloss coat for paint work protection and for the decal tasks. Another aspect I was intending to showcase is that the VMAQ-2 Prowlers back in the day had a semi-gloss coat rather than the modern dull coats.

    • @MaxAfterburner
      @MaxAfterburner  หลายเดือนก่อน

Hi Peter, that's a great question! I looked over the images of Prowlers over the years for comparisons. I can't say with any authority, but it seems the tinting of the canopies evolved over time. If there was any in the beginning of the Prowler service career it is virtually imperceptible while in later years it appears very pronounced. I would assume as the avionics changed and retrofits of increasingly powerful equipment were added on it may have necessitated the need for more shielding.
I'm sure many out there know the answer for sure if they'd like to chime in when they see this... 🤔

Hi Matrix-ob7qu, producing the videos was becoming quite time consuming and viewership was down, so I took a break. Then with the recent Devastator build release, the numbers were considerably below average - pretty disappointing. This latest Kinetic build was a bit of a tussle and I procrastinated a lot because I wanted to avoid the headache sometimes. I was also saddled with false copyright claims on music tracks that I've used (sometimes from many years ago) and YT is not all that helpful. All of this added up making this channel from being a hobby into more of a non-paying job 😏

Another excellent video, though I prefer WW2 aircraft. I consider those more elegant than current military aircraft.

Hi argentinianspotter, the older aircraft are classics. If we can keep this channel going, I can hint that there is a WWII bird waiting on a nearby "on-deck" circle.

I would love to see an F-117A model, such an odd shape for an aircraft

Hi ZAKKANWAKKAR, haha 🤣! When I saw your comment, I kept thinking about you guys wanting to hook one of those MEPPs to the steam catapult and launching it off the end of the deck!

Hi silvianbauer489, I've never heard of that movie, but I'm intrigued especially since it has Jenny Agutter in it. I remember seeing her in "The Eagle has Landed" and "Logan's Run". I thought she was so pretty in "Logan's Run"! 😍

Thise who think the military keeps their equipment clean and spotless also think military grade is the best standard for equipmet instead of made by the cheapest budder
