YES, an MLB game was THIS EMPTY -- super cold day at Guaranteed Rate Field

  • How many people were there? Maybe 300? Maybe 500? The entire upper deck was closed, and the vibe was WEIRD, but that's what happens when two bad teams face off on a freezing afternoon in Chicago. And get this -- the game was supposed to be played at night, but because of a frost advisory, it was moved up to 1:10pm, so the scheduling shift undoubtedly kept some folks away.
The two bad teams, by the way, were the Chicago White Sox (who will probably turn things around) and the Kansas City Royals (who unfortunately have no chance this season).
How many baseballs did I snag? How fast did I throw (without being warmed up!) in the speed pitch booth? How far did White Sox Starter Dylan Cease take a no-hitter? Did Royals prospect Bobby Witt Jr. manage to do ANYthing? How good does that deep dish pepperoni pizza look at the end of the video?
As promised here's the video that I did last year at Wrigley Field with Mike and Austin (and a few other kids). It has 776,000 views as of this moment. Help get it to a million!
    • Wrigley Field security...
As for this empty game at Guaranteed Rate Field, it took place on April 27, 2022, and the video was filmed and edited by Rachel Messbauer. Thanks for watching!

This was a weekday game, it was freezing, it was moved up 5 hours to the middle of the day when everyone has to work/go to school (originally a night game) and the Sox were on a huge losing streak. I'm honestly surprised that many people showed up.

Crazy to think this is the closest major league stadium to my house and I haven't been to a game there in at least 10 years. I've been to a lot of other stadiums across the country since then but I somehow always miss the opportunity to go to a Sox game. I think I've even been to Wrigley twice since I've been there and that's all the way on the other side of town.

It's definitely refreshing seeing people bestow acts of kindness on kids. I'm sure it also makes long lasting mlb fans. I'm curious if all of his postive publicity and acts of kindness to kids of families who are dropping serious $ contribute to teams saying throw him all the balls you can. If not, these owners need to. They get great expose and their fans leave with a postive experience and are gonna want to come back. You sir, are the hero baseball has been needing for years.

I had a similar empty stadium experience at new Comiskey or whatever they’re calling it. Attended a mid week game vs the Orioles in 2018. The plus side: plenty of empty seats, ushers weren’t enforcing where you could sit, $8 tickets and $1 hot dogs. The downside: for every $1 hot dog I ate, it was chased down by an $11 beer.

Once watched a pre-2005 April Sunday afternoon White Sox v. Royals match from the upper deck boxes on the first-base side. Announced attendance (actually tickets sold) was just above 10,000, but it looked as though at most 1,000 showed up. Sox Park was so deserted that afternoon that I heard the whir of the scoreboards for the entire contest.

Obviously probably about 2-3000, but I mean nobody around. Pick your seat. Nobody gives a s*** what you're doing. I was wondering around the scout seats behind the plate while Bobby Jenks is pitching in the middle of the game 😂😂😂.

Just want to say I enjoy your videos! never been to an MLB stadium or game before. since I'm in Indy and all we have are the Indianapolis Indians (nice little stadium though). It looks like a fun experience being at a MLB game.

Not as empty as when the Rays were at the A's! I watched AdamtheWoo's vlog and it was about 2000 people in official attendance. Sad
