Sale terms and cost at transaction connection are similar, Doug is going after late model market where bring a trailer has gone primarily to Porsches and also Porsche, and they might have a few Porsches, and maybe some other stuff to scroll through while looking at all the Porsches. 🤪

@@BUILTOFFICIAL It's actually a great site to sell MR2s on. However in this case they usually don't generate high #s on modified cars so in this case C&B might have been a better idea..
BaT is way more well known, popular, reputable, etc. Cars N Bids I am sure is OK, but it just hasn’t established itself yet.

I was skeptical at first, but I like your honest evaluation. This is a great video! I'm glad TH-cam suggested it to me since I've never seen your channel before. As a fan of Doug's content I'm happy that his service delivered for you, and I give you full credit for selling your car via their recommendations, including no reserve. Honestly, if this is how it works for every car, I think they are doing a great job and I hope they keep it up. The ease of contacting them and their advice I think is a HUGE step above your average online auto selling platform. I hope they keep this up. Maybe you can sell another car or two on it and let us know if your experience changes? Seems like a good idea. I would definitely be interested!
I do think the trade-off for time spent selling is worth it given that it could end up with a better sale all-around. I think the fact that they're NOT rushing it is part of the key to successful sales. I dunno. But I really like that they urge you to sell when the selling is good. This shows that they're not in it for the quick buck, and I think a lot of sellers would rather get top dollar than sell cheap.
Also, you never mentioned fees. Just curious about that. Doug's gotta eat, after all.

Nah that’s about right, I got mine for 6500, but mine wasn’t in really good condition. This one is in decent condition, but how many miles does it have. And it being modified actually devalues the car

I hope Doug see's this. It's good to get a perspective from your customers on how your new business is doing, how it can improve, what they'd like to see more of, and how it can do well in the long run. For instance the whole time you were talking about how tip-top the customer service is, I was thinking "Yeah but that's probably not going to last very long, like most new restaurants I go to." then you mentioned that during the "Doug Score" and yes, I hope at scale he can manage to focus on keeping that optimum level of customer service in the long run. He needs to see this review, it was actually performed in a way he would greatly appreciate. Not sponsored, and unbiased.

If cars and bids added assisting customers with the transaction then it would be a amazing because no other site does that after it has been sold. I know you auctioneer helped you with that but that was out of his own kindness. If it was company policy to do that then that would be a great benefit no other place offers
I definitely agree it would be good if they did that because that's one of the things I worry about the most trying to sell a car. I imagine why they wouldn't is there's probably a lot of liability with that or a possibility of getting scammed
Good review, I sold one of my cars on Cars & Bids too. The best takeaway from my experience: You need to give yourself AT LEAST a month. Their process takes a while, and you need to assume that your car will not be live on the site until 4 weeks from the date when you apply to get your car listed, minimum. They also seem to be very picky in terms of paperwork, pictures, and sometimes random wordage or phrasing. They are also heavily vested in selling your car, not in getting the most money for it, because if it sells they get their commission regardless of how much it sells for. So be prepared for them to tell you to knock off a few grand from whatever you're asking, or to set it to no reserve.

Thanks for the video on your experience with Cars and Bids! I will be selling my 2017 Audi S3 with a Stage 2 APR tune and so far I would agree with everything you have said on here. Staff is amazing, very helpful, very good at what they do and they seem like they love their job. After all of the time I have spent on Cars and Bids I can't wait to be on the selling side of things and see what it's like. Just like you some day I also want to be a bidder on a couple more cars, but I'm more of the buy it broke and fix it type. Anyway thanks again!

You're braver than me. I submitted a JDM SW20 to Cars and Bids really early (maybe week 2) and I was too nervous when they asked me to lower the reserve. I didn't know if the web site had enough eyes to risk losing money on the car. Great video!

Would be cool if you could talk about how Cars & Bids gets paid and how you got paid from the buyer. Like was it a bank wire? PayPal? Also, if you’re buying a car from the site, as a customer, are there any buyer’s protections that the website offers? And if there’s a way to do pre-purchase inspections before the transaction closes. Stuff like that. Excellent video and hilarious Doug impressions BTW.
Vetting process to sell a car is a bit weird but logical at the same time.
I think it is to keep scammers away and make sure every buyer ends up with THE car they were bidding on

That's the power of social media. Daddy Doug has 3.76 million subscribers which is way more than any other car related TH-cam channel that I know of. To put it into perspective, Motor Trend has less than 200,000 subscribers to their streaming service. So Doug has over 30x more influence in the car industry than the 70 year old car journalism institution known as Motor Trend.

Two things: first, I think you should have mentioned the fees. Cars and Bids has decent fees, slightly undercutting Bring a Trailer, which is easy enough information to get but probably good to include here. Second, the encouragement to go No Reserve immediately hit me as a bad idea. I understand the logic, but I also understand the possible downside and I think that's a significant risk. You were right to say that you put a lot of faith in them, because you really did. I think you should have gone a little more in depth in making that decision.
Otherwise, good video, very useful.
I mean he made it clear he was going to do whatever they asked, so had it been a regular decision I’m sure he would have put more thought in whether or not to do so. Also Doug has made it clear before that they encourage there customers to go no reserve just for the simple fact that on his website since it’s been up there’s a higher percentage based on what has sold that you will get more money. But you are right it’s still putting faith and if I was selling a car I’d be very afraid to so, but still I don’t think it should be a negative connotation to them asking/ providing the information that hey if you want more eyes go no reserve if not I’m sure they wouldn’t have pressured him to do so at least I would hope not :p
I think you misunderstood that part, he had a reserve of $8000 and they asked him to lower it to $5000, which he agreed to. It wasn't no reserve, just lower reserve, and it was a suggestion not an order. I had to go back and rewatch because I thought maybe I missed something but this is what he said.

Anybody selling an "enthusiast" car that's wants a "quick sale" will be disappointed 100% everytime. A quick sale for an enthusiast car only happens when u get a random offer to buy ur car with u never even having wanting to sell it. I look at C's & B's when Doug announced it that it's a website that will be nothing less than perfect since Doug's reputation is at stake. It sounds like it is pretty much perfect from start to finish in my opinion. They are definitely middle men but also seems like also they are "stagers" that do everything they can to get ur car sold (like a realtor staging a house for sale) and did a pretty awesome job doing just that. The price difference from ur initial asking and their recommendation was a surprising gap but u should have also countered to their counter to meet in the middle but u got almost what u were asking for it anyway. Then they even helped u out after their business with u was concluded. Sounds like for what it is marketed as, the way it's being operated sets the standard of how it should be done making any competitors bring their fucking A game.

The process to list a car does take a long time but I look at things from a buyers perspective. Having that much detail in a listing with so many pictures, list of parts, accident history, etc, makes the buying process much more comfortable. Like you feel like you really know what you’re getting. And the selection thing is pretty cool. Looking for interesting cars can be hard while weeding through all the plain cars and shitboxes. Lol

@@tennopr He drove it on the street to the transport company which was in a parking lot somewhere. That is a huge risk. If he would have crashed the car on the way to the transport, he loses the sale and the car. He should have had it picked up by a tow truck and delivered. You also saw in the clip, he played with the car for the last time, which is also a mistake.

I bought a Tesla on cars and bids. I wish they would explain how the bidding works a little better but other than that it was a great experience. When you place a bid, there is no proxy bidding like on ebay. The price you pay is your bid, plus the 4.5% fee, which is charged by cars and bids right when the auction ends. When a bid is placed in the last 30 seconds the time is extended by 30 seconds. At least that is what happened when I bid with 20 seconds remaining.
I felt invested in Doug’s website 😂 and I’m glad u had a great experience
