The story of Goku is consistent as a low level Saiyan he needs to work hard and smart to overcome more talented and gifted beings.
Remember what whis said when he was teaching goku about UI ? He said once you hone UI you will adapt and your body will instinctively adjust becoming stronger. I think goku is at that level and don’t need to fight opponents because he will always win and is looking for protectors of the earth . Remember goku was the strongest at the end of Z

It’s very consistent but it is also inconsistent once they put Broly into the line up, because Broly is an original saiyan mutant like Frieza who could grow stronger with minimum amount of training. This would mean Vegeta is second strongest behind broly in terms of raw saiyan potential because he was the strongest saiyan baby with high potential up until Broly show higher signs of potential. Yet if that’s so, why is Vegeta not above Goku & he trained more with Whis? He attained God ki alone but yet was only slightly stronger than Goku?
But someone like Gohan who is written to have high potential due to being a hybrid saiyan & can surpass everyone in DB with little to no training and barely fighting? Because like Gohan, Broly is a peaceful guy who doesn’t want to fight but will if he has to but since he’s an original saiyan, his blood gets pumping when he sees a battle between saiyans because he’s a pureblood.
But like I was saying the writing is inconsistent in some areas.
Well you're forgetting that Gohan wasn't around during the dragonball series, his first appearance is in Z. So, Goku fighting all those foes gave him a lot of experience. Don't forget the fights he saw Goku in but not partake in.
I think that goes without saying, Goku’s experience alone is leagues beyond Gohan’s, Goku’s been fighting his entire life up until his current age now, Gohan was a fighter in parts of his youth and retired early. Still impressive that he can keep up and even surpass some of the best out there. This match was an excellent example of Master experience Vs Boundless potential

Goku is literally compared with Batman and some other similars in terms of Martial arts. Gohan Is just classic Superman with only powers blaster and a a good traning but thats all. Even Vegeta has Masters like Whis or Yadrat elder. Goku for the other hand is a Bruce Lee with Superman powers:
Grandpa Gohan train him in several Martial arts
Kamesenin upgrade that training
Karin teach him the bases of ki and bring all His internal power
Kamiama and mr popo teach him all about ki control
Kaiosama several useful technique with ki and upgrade His power level further and beyond during Buu Arc
And then Whis and Meerus teach him God training
Gohan Is no match in terms of Martial arts to Goku. You need a Shang Shi/Batman/Rock Lee kind of character to compare to Goku.

Goku has never stopped trying to become stronger and stronger. Gohan on the other hand has taken multiple extended breaks from fighting and training. Although Gohan has the latent potential that he unlocked, and has overall more strength, it does not equate to the years of battle experience that Goku has.
Gohan doesn’t need years to catch up or surpass goku. One trip in the hyperbolic time chamber with full training will pass goku

I’m going to applaud Piccolo for training Gohan. I’m still that person that hopes/believes that the rest of the Z-fighters get their own versions of new strength in the future. (I do understand this will probably never happen, but still.)

I think it's both. In-universe he's waving at Ms. Janet. But the double meaning is that he's waving at us the audience too. The characters aren't supposed to be aware they're in a manga or anime.
I think it's both, especially since this was his last drawing right? Well ok not both really, I feel like it is more so Toriyama himself saying bye to us the fans. From what I heard, this was his final panel he drew, as if he knew, and especially since Piccolo was his favorite character.
The fact that Gohan is even on their level, no divine ki or divine techniques, just complete pure raw power, and at his age...is a feat that will never be repeated by any character. His power, like Broly's, is something of legend. By the time he is Goku and Vegeta's age in 20-25 years, his power be something unable to be comprehended. Just think, when Goku was Gohan's age, he had only just master the super saiyan form.
that's what generational knowledge is. Without Goku, Gohan barely managed to become super saiyan after 14 years in the future time line but managed to get super saiyan 1 and 2 in 1 year of training with Goku

Akira's favorite, Dragon King Piccolo, is about to make the entire earth shake if he gets to showcase his new found dragon power. I believe he's going to surprise everyone again. Piccolo saying his goodbyes at the very end was symbolic to me as if Akira himself was waving at us with a smile on his face. I love it man, I really do. R.I.P and thank you Akira sama.

Not gonna lie. I'm so happy to see Gohan and Broly taking a larger part in the story. So much potential in both of them so it's cool to see all the growth!
My thought, on the early scene where Goku "teleports" behind Gohan and delivers that kick, is that Gohan let his guard down -- which is something he is persistently criticized of doing. Instead of keeping his guard up, he was going all "huh? What's he doing now?", and that left him wide open for Goku to get behind him and land those hits.
Yeah it only takes a split second to drop your guard and Goku caught gohan off guard and gave him back shots

I'd say goku, vegeta, broly, and gohan are all relatively on the same power with piccolo being a little weaker than them the only difference being the strength and weaknesses of their respective forms.
Goku: fast reaction and movement, but slightly less striking power
Vegeta: high endurance and striking power, but slightly less overall speed
Gohan: high explosive power and speed, but less reaction speed and control
Broly: high overall stats , but severly lacking control and technique
Piccolo: All rounder, with no obvious weaknesses, no obvious strengths

They say all of that stuff like, "Oh, he is stronger or he has more control and whatever," like Gohan beat Goku and Broly and everything like that, but that really isn't the case. Goku he said that it wasn't about winning or losing, and in between Gohan vs Broly Vegeta stopped it and introduced the battle royal type of thing, so there weren't any legitimate victories. It was like Broly vs Vegeta in the Super Broly Movie where Goku interrupted that fight to fight Broly, so in a way Vegeta didn't really lose against Broly there. It is the same thing in this chapter. It's like the people wrote it to where no one really loses any introduction battles in this chapter so that in later chapters when people like Broly and Vegeta and Goku and Gohan become stronger they will face off and there will be a legitimate victor. Well not "like," that was exactly how it was.

@@midnightbat344 I honestly wouldn't even say strength wise either, the powerup beast gets in this fight is something the the Silvered hair transformation has done before in the Moro Arc. Goku isn't going allout is really the only way I can phrase it, it's either because he's trying to fully evaluate the form of beast and how strong it is or it's because Goku physically cannot go all out due to some mastery issues.
Mui has always been a form based on speed and technicality not raw power. Id really like to see how ultra ego vegeta fares against beast raw power vs raw power

I came to say this. That the oracle fish was complicit in Planet Vegeta’s destruction.

I want him to try and fight broly, broly doesn't have to win, he just has to survive and get a huge zenkai boost and damage beerus, putting beerus in his place.

I remember a fan manga where Beerus and Whis were in the GT timeline or whatever, and Goku shows them Super Saiyan 4, and Beerus beat Super Saiyan 4 Goku, but after that Whis tell Goku that he told him about God Ki and all, but that even he can be wrong, and that being who are gifted or work hard can become as strong and even surpass divine energy and the gods and things like that. And I like that concept in this here where Whis articulates that Gohan doesn't have any divine power, but he is that powerful.

After the fight, Goku proudly proclaimed that finally he could leave the care Earth to Gohan. It was a wholesome family moment that was lost amongst all the power level dick measuring going on.
I get it, I love big power levels and "grug smash rock" but Dragon Ball fans can be some of the most blind out there.
This chapter in particular wasn't about who was stronger, but about being a parallel to Toriyama passing the torch just like how Goku did to Gohan.
I hope Toyotaro is doing alright...

His favorite character, Piccolo, turning to the audience, in the classic comedic way, because he's always been about comedy, Dragon Ball, Dr Slump, the heart of who he was, like it's being meta... waving to the audience, as if he knew it was time to go. Heck even Goku saying the Earth is in good hands, the passing of the torch to Gohan, maybe that was for Toyotoro, knowing DB is in good hands...

I love that Pan's first interaction with Goku is that and it shows they're cut from the same cloth
It's really as simple as Gohan which having fought a lot of strong opponents simply hasn't fought as often as Goku. Goku has at least two decades of dedicated training and combat experience on Gohan so when push comes to shove Goku can close the gap with Gohan due to his superior combat experience, technique and wisdom. If you put them on the same power level Goku wins that fight more often than not
So from what we've seen gohan is slightly stronger and faster than goku to the point MUI can't auto dodge every attack however the gap in speed and strength isn't so big that goku was defenseless he could still parry and dodge some of gohans attacks even when gohan went all out. The only problem of this chapter to me is there was no clear winner, it was a tie as vegeta said himself and Goku didn't even bust out his Susano ki giant so we still don't really know who's the strongest but goku and gohan are clearly around the same level of strength although goku says the purpose of the fight was to test gohan and not to win implying goku held back which he did since he didn't use the susano. Overall this was another banger chapter seeing all the saiyans have a battle royale having fun and all their interactions. I am interested to see how much of the powerscaling changes when the official translation comes out though. #EndofVideoSquad

I think what Vegeta means when he talks about the experience gap, is not necessarily about fighting skills but about mastery over their new forms.
Some fans are still trying to downplay Gohan.😂 This chapter is really just so everyone gets the feel for Gohan. And everyone is impressed. Seems like for the most part they are on par here. Goku stopped before going all out. Because he knew he would have to with how fast and strong Gohan was. Very curious why vegeta only goes ssj blue. But I cant wait to see what's in store for Broly. Hopefully a new form unique to him. Well see. I think hes the best candidate for next destroyer.

Goku only had the edge because of UI auto dodge....it had nothing to do with skills and experience. kid gohan out performed cell and a rusty teen gohan out performed super buu (who would absolutely drop goku and vegeta). During the silent scenes i think its gohan explaining who it is(point at goku) and where hes been at this whole time(points to the sky), she realizes the frustration and she attacks him out of anger for being gone like chi chi would, he blocks and smiles and she forgives him immediately. Because Gohan is and has been out of shape. Even with all that power at his disposal, even as weak as they are Goten and Trunks still train and fight, while Gohan has sat on the side lines. Meanwhile when Gohan has been dragged into a fight like Frieza in Resurectrion F, or the ToP in general, even if he holds his own, does a good job, you can see that he's holding back.
Unintentionally, but that's what rust does, he's unconsciously holding himself back. Even if his power level is higher than when he fought Super Buu, or even Cell, he's so rusty he is arguably inferior to those younger versions of himself, because he's inexperienced. Goku meanwhile isn't just seasoned, since day 1 Goku has been a fighter. As a kid that's all he could think about, food and fighting. Even if he lost a World Martial Arts Tournament he kept fighting. Fighting is in his blood, it is who he is, his experience far surpasses Gohan, even on one of Gohan's best days (again Cell and S Buu), as much power as Gohan may have, Goku's instincts as a fighter means Gohan, no matter how strong he is, won't be able to keep up.
Fighting isn't just about strength, even something as brutal as boxing, there is a lot of strategy involved. In a boxing match you might be thinking as much as a chess player, it can be that strategic. Power doesn't guarantee a win, experience, and whit do.
Even if he's been training with Piccolo, even with all that power behind Beast, Goku without UI could probably still hold his own. Especially when DB has always been about overcoming those that surpass you, Saiyans, that's in there blood. When they experience near death, in the heat of battle, they get stronger. Goku getting SS1, Gohan unlocking 2, even in GT SS4, I'm assuming SS3 and God Blue also were achieved this way. The only form that has been handed out to Goku or the others is God form. Even Frieza had to train to achieve Gold and Black, one whom thought he was almighty without training, decided he needed to so he could get stronger. Even Legendary Super Saiyans, Z Broly, Kale, Kefla, and S Broly they were born with that innate raw power, it's the Oozaru power without going Oozaru, it isn't handed out, they're born with it, and keep getting stronger while fighting with it. It's a regular Saiyan's abilities amplified 100 fold, their power, and ability to strengthen themselves during or post an intense battle.
Fighting Yamcha, Jackie Chun, Tien, King Piccolo, Piccolo Jr aka current Piccolo, Raditz, Vegeta, Ginyu, Frieza, Cell, Buu, Super Buu, Kid Buu, GT's Baby, Shadow Dragons. Even in Super against Beerus, Goku still retained his God ki and power boost, thus allowing him to keep fighting Beerus even when God ki wore off, Hit pushing him to use Kaioken G Blue to which his energy is on the fritz afterwards, but then by the ToP he's mastered x 10 Kaioken SSGSS, and within said Tournament he unlocked UI, and mastered UI.
Every fight Goku has been in since day 1 of leaving his Grandpa Gohan's house, has been a challenge he could not beat, but matched and grew above as the fights went on, or post fights. That is Dragon Ball in a nutshell, overcoming your limits, finding the next one, then overcoming that one, in an endless sea of limits so that you can become the best you you can ever be, while not stopping.
Slap on UI, the form that allows Goku to think without thinking, to move without processing, while not providing much of a power boost. I am rooting for Gohan, I believe Toriyama when he says in terms of power scaling Gohan in Beast is truly the strongest next to Broly... but it is still no contest that Goku would win the fight. Experience means everything in a fight, and it's not just because Gohan is obviously younger being the son of Goku lol, hell not even because Gohan is rusty.
Goku is just always fighting, a symbol of never stopping, over coming those endless limits. Much like his inspiration, Son Wu Kong the monkey King from journey to the west, who kept rising, surpassing monkeys, man, gods, then the Budha himself, never satisfied always striving for more.
edit: 12:30 Well... I wasn't entirely wrong lol, still stand by what I said, and wasn't wrong. I did believe Gohan was stronger, but again strength doesn't always mean better. Also think it's ironic I go on this description of Goku and DB since day 1, then you said with Beast Gohan... basically what I said lol. Which isn't wrong, fair assessment of what and how Beast is. In spite of all of Goku's experience, that raw power over comes Goku at his best. Which is still explained, Vegeta thought Goku was still winning, but then even he is surprised when Gohan boosts his power then flies off incinerating the tree. The turns have tabled, Goku's victory seemed all but assured, until that moment.
Very interesting to analyze, and kind of encapsulates all those comparisons of Goku vs other characters from other franchises (especially the west's vision of pure peak and unlimited power Superman the age old question who would win lol). Much like the unbreakable shield vs the spear that can pierce anything. That or the best defense is a good offense or vice versa the best offense is a good defense. Even if Gohan wins, Goku will rise up and get stronger, to which (hopefully lol, if he doesn't let himself get rusty) Gohan likewise will do should Goku surpass him. Goku has the best defense, Gohan the best offense, and both can strive to keep each other's skills sharpened and honed.

So he wasn’t even going all out to beat him so how is he “delving deeper” into ui. It just looks like a stalemate. Also, he is passing the torch in protecting earth when he’s not there. Not passing the torch literally. He just doesn’t have to worry about earth if gohan is there.

I like that they still keep it kinda so that Gohan can only hurt Goku if he goes full out and even after that Goku can still tap back to UI which shows that Gohan isn't still clearly stronger. It also makes sense as UI is a technique of god's and Beast Gohan is a saiyan form so it would not make sense if he would already clearly beat Goku. I cant wait to see Broly master his full power so that we can see a good 1v1 with him vs Goku

The ending maybe comedic but it also aligns to a male saiyan characteristic, like Gine pointed out Saiyan Men usually don't care or show no feelings towards their children they only do shat interest them like fighting, Gohan was also like this he gives Piccolo some oh parental responsibility to him so he can study. On Vegeta's case his bloodline matters to him because he is royal blood and his line matters to him that why he cares more about his family.

13:20... that doesn't equate power though, which I think is why people are arguing. It's an ability, but it doesn't give raw strength, like SS forms, especially LSS, or Gohan's Beast form. In terms of strength of power, Gohan is easily the strongest, Broly might be able to match him, but in terms of skill, and ability, the mentioned experience of battle Goku is superior, UI is superior because it's multipurpose. Beast meanwhile is a 1 trick Pony, much like LSS, but both also don't need more tricks because it's a wellspring, endless supply of raw power, energy, and strength.
More tools at Goku's disposal, vs Gohan only needs his hammer to do everything. It'd be like in the wild, a pack of wolves vs a bear, they're much smarter, but a bear is just raw strength, the battle could go either way for that reason. Godzilla vs Kong, pure innate raw power, vs super smart monk that's pretty strong... but still doesn't have as much power at his disposal as Godzilla.
Gohan is certainly at a similar level, but you said some nonsense that I can't ignore. He was constantly increasing his power to be able to hit Goku, and Goku was taking it more seriously also. There's nothing like one starting to go more on ultra instinct and the other side going normal. Another point, Gohan was showing signs of fatigue while Goku wasn't, Goku always gets super excited when fighting someone stronger and here he was just testing Gohan's strength And then he pushed the fight onto Broly because HE was fighting Gohan and looking around while Gohan was focused

18:00 I've been thinking the same since Super Hero dropped. Legendary Super Saiyan is that innate raw power of Oozaru, which is why Broly can't go Oozaru (at least that was the explanation in Z's Broly, not sure if the same for S Broly, Kale, or Kefla), it draws out their rage and power without transforming. Beast meanwhile gave off that vibe too, especially the spaced out dead pan stare Goku and Gohan have given off when going Oozaru or Golden Oozaru, and that Gohan gave when unlocking not just Beast, but SS2 too. Gohan saying he has unlimited power in this chapter too is exactly the same as a LSS, they just keep getting stronger and stronger. Typically any and all Saiyan can do this, when in the midst or post fighting a battle they were losing, they get stronger and a power boost. LSS takes this, mixes it with raw Oozaru power, and amplifies it, like a berserker, power levels constantly rising never stopping.
It's how Broly could even keep up with Blue Gogeta despite the obvious power gap, that Gogeta was pushed to blue, SS1 couldn't handle it, Broly just kept getting stronger and stronger non stop, like a runaway freight train that keeps building speed. Gogeta blue was just on another level, and Broly while still growing wasn't able to grow during the fight to catch up to it before losing his power.
Gohan's explanation of going berserk while training with Piccolo reflects this to a t, especially when Oozaru's also act that way. Heck in GT that's the only way to get SS4, Goku went Golden Oozaru, out of control, but it wasn't until he regained his mind, his senses, he could push even further and unlock a new form. Every Saiyan transformation has functioned this way aside from God. Blue assumedly did off screen, same as Goku unlocking SS3, since him and Goku are always training never stopping, pushing past their current limits to their next levels. Vegeta going Blue Evolved, even Goku getting UI and mastering it were in the heat of battle.
Maintaining one's mind, in order to master not just their power, but themselves, their inner selves.

A key part of the supreme unlocking Gohan’s potential is that Gohan always said he wanted to be stronger with his human side, but as soon as he left the Sajian inside of him get loose a new transformation as you said with no limit appeared… So Not even goku or Vegita has reached that level yet because they have not unlocked their powers like Gohan did and that’s good because it gives us more to hope for from Goku and vegeta… Gohan is indeed special that’s the pentacle of the human and Sajian genes working together not as separate things…
