    Sorry but this is a terrible showcase of the unreal engine. Lighting is horrific, it makes UE look like Unity. If you're trying to show clothing, lighting should be bright and casting soft shadows not in dimly light, orange lighting.

      This is basically an introduction into the possibilities of using Unreal for fashion design. Let’s see if you can offer something better.

      @@ltyler01 I agree with you, but "you do it better, then talk" is an argument that needs to die.
      Criticizing or having an opinion about something isn't related to one's skill to recreate it. You should be free to point out bad art even if you don't have the skill to improve it or do it better. You just know what good art is and use that to judge.

      Agreed, no idea why they thought this desert scene was good. It looks terrible and the lighting is horrendous. Not to mention the walking in circles is distracting as the background is constantly spinning.

    - Because you can create an immersive atmosphere.

      yeah looks like a late 90s or early 00s demo, issue is in a lot of these projects they have people who go nuts on Marvelous or CLO3D but the actual lookdev and lighting of the shot just falls apart without proper art direction, it's a mismanagement of resources.

    More easily 'ideal' modelled model movement and 'ideal' expression?

    • @PeppoMusic
      @PeppoMusic 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Does that really matter if they are not real people and everyone knows they are?
      I think this just allows for even more creative exploration.
      'Ideals' have never stayed the same throughout the ages anyway. And how they change and develop is actually a lot more complicated than "being created by fashion", it is silly to think that high fashion designers even really have that kind of complete power and influence, they are influenced by it just as much.

    • @mausunk
      @mausunk 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@PeppoMusic To me it wouldn't matter much, and I also wasn't implying true ideal, it's why I denoted 'ideal', and in any way, even if 'ideal' changes in time, there would always be an ideal at that point in time.
      I'm not much into fashion so I'm unsure how the genereal perspective from that field is.
      For me the greatest hype comes from creative exploration and freedom that comes with technical evolution.

    • @mausunk
      @mausunk 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@PeppoMusic I'm also wondering, I heard about something similar to this where clothes or rather their designs are being sold purely as digital skins such that they can be used for (modelling) photo's and such, effectively creating a digital wardrobe for editing purposes. Do you know more about this or how it might affect the future?

    • @PeppoMusic
      @PeppoMusic 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@mausunk This kind of market is already pretty much there in the VR space with VR avatars actually, and not that disimilar. When the bounds of reality are reduced, some people diverge away from their 'human form' quite quickly, though most of it is still human adjacent, obiously being constrained by how we control the movement of VR-avatars. It's still fairly early to tell how this will affect our relationships with ourselves and overal ideas of aesthetics, it's difficult to follow. But it's big business and still growing.
      And from my limited experience with the fashion and art world, designers and artists are rarely concerned with the ideas of 'idealism' and more often actually try (but not necessarily succeed) to be 'counter-culture', or just exploring something they think looks cool, or just enjoy the process of making stuff without really an end goal in mind.

      Maybe they also made that choice with the idea of not wanting to distract attention away from the clothes.
      Or because the design of the clothes is texturally already fairly busy, to contrast that 'liveliness' with 'blandness', to make it seem even more lively or busy or whathaveyou.

    Cool way to show off cloth physics, but as for the clothes themselves they're pretty generic and simple while also looking weird. I saw more or less the same texture being used multiple times in many glossy materials and the patterns are by far the most interesting aspect of this while also minimalistic. The design is weak, but hey, fashion always seems to be more focused on aesthetics and not really caring about anything else tbh.

    People are so addicted to Metahuman, UE5, Quixel photorealistic assets, that feel this video as a bad decision. If an artists decides to exit the photrealistic path and focus on the clothes using simple mannequins walking on a poly pisa tower, it is not wrong, is just a decision and should be respected.
