A much better explaination than the help video, thank you, I wish it was a simple as the champfer command, just pick a surface and a rib appears.

Hiya Toby! Nobody explains CAD features as well as you. Sorry that I haven't donated Value for Value yet, but I will. Great tutorial, as usual! Gotta keep em coming!

i actually did donate - happily - right after I wrote the note. But I didn't receive confirmation, which I thought was weird, assuming it would be an automated system. On your site, I log in under a different name (last name Odom). I'll check to ensure the funds transferred. @TooTallToby

Just checked, and I did make payment via PayPal on Jan 24, but my bank records do not show those funds withdrawn from my banking account. Not sure what the process is for you to receive PayPal funds, but would assume it is an automatic deposit? PayPay definitely shows a payment was made to you; I want you to have the cash, bro!

lets delete these messages I'll message you directly @@PCRduino - we're probably getting a little too deep in the weeds here, considering this is the onshape channel 😀

@TooTallToby, nice overview of the rib tool!
For the parallel to sketch part you could also have mentioned that it not only can be angled but also doesn't have to be a straight line (for that mater it can curved for the normal to sketch as well)!
One thing I haven't seen you use yet is the "final" button (available in the sketch and most feature dialogues), you could have turned that on while editing the sketch for "angled rib" part of the video.
What it does is that when enabled it rebuilds the whole feature tree (up to the rollback bar if applicable).
Basically like the "rebuild" button on a dimension edit box in SW except it updates live as you drag, it's fun to play with (and can be very useful, for example when editing splines for a surface model so you can see the surface update live as you drag your construction curves)!
Also when not enabled, the slider at the bottom of the dialogue changes the opacity of the preview so you can quickly see the "before and after" of your feature by dragging left or right (in case you wondered what that does!)

So.....with curved lines I was kinda getting "hit or miss" results. I think the Onshape team might still be refining this one - do you have any little tricks you use to help in those spots where the rib just kinda solves crazy (when extending) - or becomes unsolvable? I find that the best thing to do is to split the rib into 2 separate rib commands, and then I can get what I'm looking for.

Another great video. Your manner and explanations are excellent. I guess being relatively new to Onshape, you can better appreciate potential pitfalls for new users and teach accordingly.

I found a bug the other day with the Rib feature. If you create a jogged line (or multiple connected lines), it'll extend all of the lines instead of connecting them to make one rib.

Sorry for the noob question but still learning Onshape. At around :43 you click something to get a floating box with sketch items. How do you do that?

Gotcha Brad - I think I answered this in the other comments but just in case - I was using the S key menu - a truly POWERFUL tool! here's a video I made on the topic:
