Railfan Friday | Episode:21 | vermillion,Ohio

What's up railfans I went to vermillion Ohio just for railfan Friday! In this video we see various trains on norfolk southern Chicago line mile post 220. I was surprised to see so much foreign power leading.
Vermilion is a city in Erie and Lorain counties in the U.S. state of Ohio, on Lake Erie. The population was 10,659 at the 2020 census. Located about 35 miles west of Cleveland and 17 miles east of Sandusky, it is part of the Cleveland metropolitan area and Sandusky micropolitan area.

Go to the Amtrak station in Sandusky Ohio. Plenty of parking and a clear view of the tracks.

If you went west instead of east in vermilion, you would’ve hit the switch overs. About 5-10 west of vermilion, they have spurs that connect the lines together and they switch trains back and forth.

Sandusky should be worth the trip. I've seen a lot of '50s footage of Santa Fe steamers working PRR consists there.

you should visit atlanta GA or Shreveport LA, i believe atlanta has more traffic but both are super busy

Vermilion is a good spot to railfan at. Have you sat at any other locations on the NS Chicago Line between Toledo and Cleveland?

Most likely they’ll get longer after passing through Conway or Toledo.

No kidding. I live about 300 yards from where he’s filming and I’ve never seen trains that short. I have seen trains crossing on the underpass/overpass once in 25 years. It’s cool. Looks like model train layout.
