When I saw the ad on Netflix, I thought it was a completely different movie. A lot of movies, even way back to like the sixties, follow this formula. They go for tactics that they consider to be unattractive for example a common tactic from the 80s that they still use now is frumpy clothes and no makeup. Which doesn’t make the person unattractive but the idea is there that “Oh if they only did a couple things they would really shine!” It’s a common trope. If you go back and watch a lot of 80s movies trying to copy John Hughes (including his own Breakfast Club), just give the quirky girl a new dress and some makeup and she is now considered attractive. It’s gross.

There are a lot of reasons that were mentioned by other people stating why the movie and characters were so bad, but you guys made a really good point that a lot of people seemed to have missed. Sierra and Jamey had the most basic and boring of conversations. Jamey kept on saying "she's so funny" "we're so funny" but all they been doing was exchanging animal photos and essentially "sexting". Their conversations lack any kind of depth and when Jamey did try and talk about his personal life and views, Sierra didn't contribute much to the conversation than just a "yeah" "uhuh" "wow". I really disliked whoever wrote the script, this movie and the cast deserved so much better

A lot of movies, even way back to like the sixties, follow this formula.
They go for tactics that they consider to be unattractive for example a common tactic from the 80s that they still use now is frumpy clothes and no makeup. Which doesn’t make the person unattractive but the idea is there that “Oh if they only did a couple things they would really shine!” It’s a common trope. If you go back and watch a lot of 80s movies trying to copy John Hughes (including his own Breakfast Club), just give the quirky girl a new dress and some makeup and she is now considered attractive.

If they showed that the guy got mad at her and ignored her for a couple of scenes before she rethink her actions and apologized to him asking him for forgiveness and ended with him forgiving her and remembering how much a good girl she was, would have made it a better movie. Then again, nothing I can say since my friend did something similar and the guy who liked her forgave her too LMAO.

There are a lot of reasons that were mentioned by other people stating why the movie and characters were so bad, but you guys made a really good point that a lot of people seemed to have missed. Sierra and Jamey had the most basic and boring of conversations. Jamey kept on saying "she's so funny" "we're so funny" but all they been doing was exchanging animal photos and essentially "sexting". Their conversations lack any kind of depth and when Jamey did try and talk about his personal life and views, Sierra didn't contribute much to the conversation than just a "yeah" "uhuh" "wow". I really disliked whoever wrote the script, this movie and the cast deserved so much better
